Question about cars and trucks made by Polish

Hello,

There are several cars and trucks in Polish's store that I am potentially interested in buying but I would like to get some input from people who may have some or all of them. I currently own the Upper Class Car and Upper Class SUV that Polish sells here at Daz, and in both cases I have found that the steering wheel does not line up properly with the driver's seat. This makes it awkward to pose a figure in a driving pose because they have to be positioned like they are sitting to the side of the driver's seat or you have to twist the upper body so that they are grasping the wheel and sitting in the center of the driver's seat at the same time.

So my question is, is this the same with all of the cars and trucks made by Polish? Or is it just a flaw with the Upper Class Car and Upper Class SUV models?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

You can select the wheel in the parameter's tab and use the z-translation to move it to whatever sideways position you like. Some movements are locked, but can easily be unlocked in the parameter tab.

It will disconnect from the main body, though, but for most scenes, it should be okay.

EDIT: I just checked, and most of Polish's cars I own do have that same issue.

Thanks for the steering wheel tip BeeMKay. I didn't realize it was separate so I will give it a try. Also thanks for checking to see if the other vehicles are the same.

I have (almost) every vehicle Polish has made. I've had very good results working with them. The rigging and flexibility is nice and the parts are separated into material zones in such a way that they are easy to retexture if you want a color or look that he doesn't provide out of the box.

    Thanks JonnyRay,

I do like the ones that I have I just wish the seats and steering wheels lined up.

Here is a render I did with his Police car. It's just a generic sort of modern police car. As with all these 3D vehicles it's usually not the case that you are satisfied with the way a character sits in the seats or on the hood or trunk when you pose them there because there is not "physics" in DAZ Studio to compress the seats or the car's suspension.

You can see though the car looks good and renders good. I didn't edit the lighting of the car, but there are presets that turn the lights on or off.

I didn't buy the other police vehicles in that bundle as I didn't think I'd use them much, although the big Police SUV is getting to be quite a common site nowadays.

Yes, the ability to wind down winds is definately a bonus. With some vehicles the door windows are separate parts so you can at least make them invisible, but with others all the windows are one part so you either make them all invisible or make do with them all being up.

I wish the windows wound down.

    1. There IS a workaround for that.  Duplicate the car and hide the door that has the window you want to open on the original, then hide all of duplicate copy except the door that you want to open the window on.  Using the surface seletion tool, select the glass material for the duplicate door and turn cutout opacity to zero.  Or, alternatively, one could just select the window you want to roll down with the geometry tool and hide it that way.
