Rex comes with Anagenesis materials - what does this mean?

I've snatched Rex while he's in Fast Grab. I see that he comes with 3Delight materials, IRAY materials, and Anagenesis materials. What does latter mean?

    Good question.  It obviously means that those presets were created using Dimension-Z's anagenesis shaders, but whether it's Anagenesis 1 or 2, and whether it requires the original product to use them or not is a bit of a mystery.

    Sorry Matt, I still don't understand...

    Are those materials created using Anagenesis, or are they created to be used with Anagenesis?

    I did an IRAY test render using the Anagenesis materials (I don't own either Anagenesis product) and the result looks better than the non-Anagenesis IRAY materials. Which makes me wonder, why even include the non-Anagenesis IRAY materials?

    Of course I'll ultimately just go with what looks best to me... but I'm still curious how the materials are meant to be used.

    They should be stand-alone; just use the character.

    They have the Anagenesis 2 shaders are ready to render out of the box... There are a few other products that include the Anagenesis 2 merchant resources such as https://www.daz3d.com/lie-tattoo-presets-2-for-genesis-3-and-8-male/

    N.G.S. Anagenessis for Genesis 3 required for use with N.G.S. Anagenessis Presets

    If you're using the tattoos on that character, using Anagenessis presets then yes.  If you're using the Iray presets, then no.

    If you're using the tattoos on that character, using Anagenessis presets then yes.  If you're using the Iray presets, then no.

    In particular, if you have a character with the Anagenesis 2 settings, use the Anagenesis 2 tattoo, and if not, use the regular tattoo...  If you have been follwing Dimension-Z's DeviantArt page, Anagenesis 3 is going to be epic!

    Where did you see mention about Anagenesis?

    Gypsyangel has included NGS options for most, if not all of her  newer G3 as well as her G8 characters. At least all her G3-G8 men I have purchased have the option since the release of Anagenessis. It does not say it in the description but Rex definitely comes with the options. I understood it that Hylas saw the options inside DS.

    So L'Adair tells me over in a different thread that Anagenessis is a merchant resource. So I guess Rex' Anagenessis options were created using Anagenessis but can be used without that product.

    I kinda wonder why the standard IRAY materials were even included since the Anagenessis materials look significantly better.

    I literally lol-ed when I read that! With all the crazy politics going on now, I burst into laughter thinking that now Iraq and 3Delight were divided! Hope it doesn’t get banned because of 3Delight politics lol wink laugh
