Anyone use Corel Painter on their renders?

Managed (finally!) to get Painter installed and I can forsee many hours of both fun and frustration ahead, not necessarily in that order. Bit of a learning curve but hey, I eventually got Daz Studio figured out enough to use it after a decade of Poser so not that bad. Paintshop Pro 2020 seems to have a few new things but for the love of me I do not know where it has put or is trying to put my plugins. So far the folders I've found for those are empty. Pic To Paint is nowhere in sight. I tried to get it, PSP says it's in my library, wherever that is and I should just install it. So I click the green Install button and ... nothing happens. Is that a Windows 10 only thing? I tried searching for info but all I've seen on google are videos of how to use it, not how to get it in the first place -- except "Buy PSP 2020" which is what I've already done -- and complaints in Corel user forums about it not working right, but those have different issues than mine. As in they already have it in their plugins folder but it crashed or whatever. Can somebody here who's got this thing point me in the right direction?

Please keep the discussion on the software, not the purchase method.

    Did I mention that? o.O??

I have my PicToPainting plugin installed in my PSP 2019, I migrated my settings over to 2020 so it could find my extras.

Refer screenshots for locations, if you only have 2020 it should be in the equivalent 2020 folder.

My plugin folder for both the 32 and 64 bit versions of PSP 2020 has nothing in it but the description.txt file. Corel wanted to install to my C Drive but I wouldn't let it. Did I maybe break something?

Probably not. I also have only Description.txt in the plugin folder of PSP 2020, but it works fine for me.

I have also migrated from PSP 2019, so the plugin exists in thats version plugin folder.

For simplicity, I keep all my Corel software on C: drive.

Sounds like it's not installed. You can try the Corel Support for help, have used it in the past and found it to helpful. Click on the link that pops up.

Just created an auto VanGogh layer in Painter, mixed it with original render from Daz Studio and flatten the image in PaintShop Ultimate.

Then has applied Pic To Painting effect.

    Looks good, nice colors!

Thanks a lot, Taoz. It is a real fun experimenting with Pic to Painting.

In my C:\Program Files\Corel\Plugins folder I have only the Particle Shop and GRFX Corel plugins. Still hunting, if I can't find it anywhere else I'll have to call Corel support and see if they know where it put the darned thing. Or why it didn't.

Corel Painter 2019.  Curious as to what it's like to use and what others have got out of it. Love to get some inspiration because I'm grabbing it while it's still on offer for 25 dollars laugh

Yes, I have bought it in Corel bundle at HumbleBundle, but the license for Corel Painter 2019 is valid for 1 year only.

One can upgrade it to the full version, but at the not so low additional cost.

I am not complaining though, because I also got full version of Corel PaintShop Ultimate 2020 and the other nice programs, as well.

One also support some charities, so it is definitely a good deal for me.

There is Painter Essentials.  There is a new version just released and I'm very very tempted.  I gave up on Paint Shop Pro for the most part.  The only thing I used in that program was their tiling script but there are other ways to tile images these days.  One thing I HATE about Corel is they have these desktop popups that are quite annoying asking you if you want to buy Particles or other things I don't want nor need.

OK, I was wrong and got Painter 2019 for a $25.00 but the other program that was to be included "Gravit" keeps taking me to a deak link page.  I have no idea what that program does but I have Painter 2019 now.... I guess that's OK but after installing it I immediately got a pop up from Corel asking me if I wanted Painter Essentials 2020.... Grrrrrrrrrrrr

I think, that it is a part of the deals/programs from Corel.

I have bought my first version of PSP directly from Corel and I got also such offers from them.

Crescent kindly provided the link to Corel forum about how to fix it:

    https://painterfactory.com/painter_product_discussion/f/got-a-question-technical-issue-bug-report-for-the-painter-team/26282/brush-pack-promotions-how-to-turn-off

but it was for the other product.

I still prefer to pay less for the permanent, life time license, though.

Ah, thank you.  Hopefully that works for all their programs.  I hate being spammed on my own PC!  Not cool!

Question about Painter 2019.... anyone know how to properly use the clone brush?  In Photoshop you just hit Ctrl and select the area you want to clone and run the brush over a new area and that replaces the old with the new but in Painter the same operation does not do that at all!  LOL  It's painting ... I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but that's not what I wanted!

Huh? I didn't have to subscribe to anything, just paid the $25 and that was it. Other than a ticky box for the newsletter, which is free.

Still, for me is the easiest tool to use is Pic to Painting in PaintShop Pro 2020 Ultimate.

Below are the example of how different presets looks alike applied to DS render of Morganna.

I am waiting on Corel tech support to help me get this plugin since I am unable to download any of the free content that shows in PSP 2020's Get More area. Been all day yesterday with them and they still haven't figured out why this is so.  My internet, firewall and antivirus are all cooperating but PaintShop Pro is not. Green download & install buttons do absolutely zip, zilch, nada. Frustrating as all Hades, but I will persevere. frown
