YouTube do you upload anything or just have a channel

I have over a thousand videos on my channel which is rather meaningless as a person could have a single video and get more views and likes especially since it may have quality versus quantity
but
I digress
I was curious as to why so many people have YouTube channels and comment on my own videos yet do not have a single upload on their own.
Most people have a camera in their phone and a pet cat or dog at least.
it has always puzzled me.
I presume they create the channels just in order to leave comments
which would make sense if there was some actual purpose in those comments
but a lot of it is sheer gibberish
I love watching those People of Reddit type text to speech videos myself as the comments are always very entertaining thought provoking etc, people actually interact and discus the topics
I don't get that calibre of viewers

Comments
It's the being able to comment is why make a channel, or so my daughter says (I don't have a channel myself)
I watch a lot of YouTube videos but I haven't tried to comment on them. I've never tried to create a channel but I do have an account. You have to log in to view anything they consider age restricted which is the only reason I created the account. I just had a look and it does have an entry for "Your Channel" (meaning my channel) under my user entry. Do you get a channel just for creating an account? I didn't know that. If I've got a channel I've no plans to upload anything.
Yes you would indeed have a channel
there you go, most probably don't realize that having an account also creates a channel. I have an account, but it was never created to upload anything, just to have an account. I subscribe to quite a few channels, but have no desire to create and share any videos.
I guess it depends on who you are subscribed to as far the quality of the comments. Most of the ones I follow are more mature minded in content posted and informative, so the comments actually have some meaning and are respectful and less argumentative than many of the others that i could be following. Some of my comments have lead to actual private discussions and trading of emails.
I have a channel of my attempts to learn animation in DAZ Studio 4.12+. There are only 2 or 3 videos and they are very short. Truth be told I'm a bit surprised at the number of views the last two videos I posted have gotten in the couple of months that they've been up. Not because it's a huge amount, just that it's more than I thought would randomly see a very short video of an attempt to learn animation.
But I have moved that activity to try & learn animation in Blender as I have to face it, there are a lot more tutorials to help me learn and Blender is more advanced with physics & animation. I have to wait on that until I finish finishing my floors though.
I'm subscribed to your channel but I rarely comment on anything on I see on YouTube. Mostly because I see so many comments that are outright mean and I don't want to get drawn into their world.
What I don't understand is they have that YouTube Studio (Beta) but when I go to look at it and it has for example a category of 'Geography' for viewers but it doesn't actually tell me the city or country of the viewers in that Geography category. OK then, so what's the point of that category?
Given the number of views I got with (practically) no effort, I could guess that someone that made something interesting might get swamped with views.
I had an account, so I could watch so-called age-restricted videos. When I went to add a comment to one I was informed I needed to create a channel (this may be automatic now, but my account was created close to 10 years ago IIRC) - so I now have a channel that will probably never see an upload.
...same here as I don't create videos (don't even have a video camera) or animation. i primarily use my account to listen to my music playlists while working.
What I find odd is the need to make weird meaningless comments
not even trolling just gibberish
and the decidingly weird questions
they are not all silly kids by any means either that's what's perplexing
I could disable comments but occasionally I actually do get something related to what I uploaded a query or suggestion etc especially if its about some software I am playing with and trying out as I mostly do.
Those uploads get the oddest comments by the way not some silly DAZ character animation where I would expect it from some.
Those I would expect it, and pretty much ignore it as the comments just make the commenters look brainless themselves in most cases. I see worse on some people who upload awesome work so not alone there.
I am not so much asking about the comments on my own channel but about the people who have a channel so they can just type gibberish on other people's channels, not as I said trolling, clever witty comments just nonsense.
I have a channel because it comes with having an account. I have an account to 'like and subscribe' so I get notifications of new vids from channels I like. I sometimes leave comments.
I toy with the idea of uploading a vid, but then I think anything I might do has been done (like a blender/armor-paint/DS tut). Plus I don't have the time right now.
I have two channels. One for my videos from various fishing expeditions into the mountains here in Scotland and one with various videos of animations from studio and Bryce and some family ones which are marked private
Now I need to ask the question
Does anyone here type meaningless comments on videos they watch?
things like
I like your shoes (video has no shoes feet or people in it, was rendered scenery)
gnfkkkkllll or other random letters
first
Also a lot of people upload "random images off the internet " set to music
translated
other people's artwork, renders and photographs used without permission
anyone ever seen theirs?
There are some sad individuals out there, I just ignore it or delete the comment. It is my channel and I will decide what is acceptable and what isn't.
My stuff can't be good enough for somebody using it
I did have someone use one of my fishing images on their blog once. I emailed the owner and said it was fine but they should have asked first and also put a reference to my site to say where it had come from. They apologised and did add a link so all was amicable
I don't even know if I have a channel. I think I must because I upload some test renders just so I can post WIP links.
I love your videos, Wendy.
In my understanding, that is how very different people are. We are all humans, but very unique ones.
If you expose your art on YouTube, you can count on many opinions or not at all.
You can choose to disable comments, if you like.
Anyone who has a GMail acct will also have an account on youtube, which results in having a channel. It's up the individual to decide what they will do in regards to youtube.
I want to make tutorials, particularly in regards to animation, I have a seperate account just for that purpose. My regular account is what I use for tutorials on everything, from Daz to other software, as well as any 3D to crafting to music making to cooking. You can see why I would have two, so the 3D one does not become a mess.
I've seen the copyright thefts, have commented and reported and contacted origial artist if posible, I always double check to see if credit is given. I sometimes comment when people are being stupid (which is a lot) to give them an awakening. Whether or not that light bulb comes on I don't know, but occassionally I get likes for my comments.
Those random are most likely bot channels being used to generate artificial activity. Once broken in, the bots are then used to sell views.
That is a plausible explanation, but still tells a lot about human nature.
is a possibility I hadn't considered
a you tube related question.
saw half a dozen daz ads in under 2 hours.
why the frog dude that can't put his arms down? tho i do like his fashion statement.
Hi,
Well making videos require a whole different set of skills, public speaking, editing, scripting, clickbait thumbnail (jk) etc. It's odd even when doing things you're familiar with, unless you have some practice with it. Of course, if a person is just uploading their own travel videos, then no worries.
Most sane person doesnt want to subject themselves to such embarassment; http://bit.ly/2MlyjQB
I ain't got a single video on Youtube and I don't know if I got an account/channel... and what makes me wonder is why
seems to be so relevant for some people (except for the fact that it seems that some people make money by it).
the bot thing helps explain some of my puzzle
also I actually have 4 channels
some of these people might have others too and keep an empty one for making lots of meaningless comments to drive traffic to their other ones maybe listed in their followed channels
I knew at least one person who liked and commented on his own videos with his other channels
one who was fond of threatening lawsuits against other animators claiming they used his motions
