Nor for me. At least not the last two.

Rats. They're animated gifs, which the forums keep rejecting, so I tried linking them from Onedrive. I've never used Imgur before, so let's see if this works.

That's some dedicated headbanging. Is she in the audience in the next picture? laugh

    She could be!

Playing around with these characters gave me a funny idea, so I now present to you...

CHOOSE-YOUR-OWN RENDER - Batgirl and Harley Quinn

    Which one is the truth?

  • WinterMoonWinterMoon Posts: 1,893

I kind of ship it, but... I think the second version is in character for Harley.

  • GordigGordig Posts: 9,107

You're not wrong. Speaking of Harley, I made my first foray into explicit content as part of a planned series about why having sex with the Joker would be awful. I can't link to it on the forums, or really even describe it beyond that, but for anyone who's interested, it's on my DeviantArt.

@Gordig I love the expression on the punched BatGirl's face excellent !! Oh and I sent you a PM

  • GordigGordig Posts: 9,107

Those Batgirl renders flipped a switch in my brain, and I've been rendering nothing but superhero-themed porn for the last few weeks. I thought I'd switch things up by rendering something I could post here, so here is default Michael 8, who I think makes a pretty compelling Gambit. I'm still working on a scene for him, but I've at least mostly finished kitbashing his outfit, so consider this a sneak preview.

    Pick a Card

I still haven't made my way through all the dForce threads, so my attempts to use dForce outside the box have been erratic and somewhat slapdick. The coat from Mid-Victorian Men's outfit ended up taking dForce better than I was expecting, sparing me from having to do a lot of manual posing to contort it around his legs. The buttons fell off and hung around wherever they felt comfortable, but they were easy enough to hide. I'd like to do more with his card, but for now a quick bloom filter will suffice.

Gambit's always been one of my favorite X-Men, but man, nothing about his outfit makes sense.

I'm like woefully unknowlegable about X-Men (and Marvel and DC) but isn't superheroes' and -villains' terrible fashion sense part of what makes them so compelling? laughWhen you have sooopah powahhs you don't need to worry about anyone judging your taste, because you can smite them if they get rude. But they'll probably just think it's cool when it's YOU doing it. I mean, everyone mocks Alien Guy's hair, but Wolverine totally owns it.

It's cool to see you're back to posting!

Gambit's outfit is arguably less ridiculous than many of his teammates in terms of sheer aesthetics. What really throws me about it is that so much of it seems to be made for a very specific purpose that I'm not aware of, and possibly has never really been addressed. He's got that weird cowl that only covers the back of his head up to his hairline, he has some sort of armored tubular structure around his shoulders, he's got the gloves that don't cover his first two fingers (that one actually makes SOME sense given his power, but why wear gloves at all if that's the case?). Look at someone like Cyclops or Wolverine from that same area, and sure, their costumes are hideous and kind of goofy looking, but they make sense.

Also, it's nice to know I was missed. Have some more!

I wanted to put something together for the New User challenge, which for this month is atmosphere. I knew what a slog it would be, because I render Iray CPU-only, and still don't fully understand how some of the light controls work. There's not much to this scene yet, and I don't know how much more I want to add, but my focus for now is just getting the whole atmosphere thing down.

    Alive?

And then, because it amused me, I did the same scene but with Muppets.

    Alive? (alternate)

Also, I just realized that I never posted my first entry for the monthly freebie challenge, "Monster Mash". It took me a while to find inspiration for it. Initially, I just started loading every freebie monster into an empty scene to figure out what would move me. @JoeQuick's Faces of Fantasy mummy face reminded me of the Superman villain Bizarro, so I threw some diamond skin and crazy hair on him, and suddenly I had my idea. I present the rally for monster rights:

I'm working on a second scene for the same contest, but nobody else has posted an entry yet, so I'm about to become my only competition.

    The Ritz

I really struggled with the lighting on this one, and in the end I think a lot of that came down to not really understanding what the textures looked like. Once I finally settled on the lighting I had in the scene and made a sufficiently large render, I saw that it looked basically okay as it was. I'm not completely sold on the posing/framing, but maybe a lighting change that created more shadow would help anchor them to the scene better.

    The Ritz (alternate)

Because I guess this is what I do now, here's an alternate version of this scene with different clothing. I like this a lot better because the clothing both stands out more from the background and shows the shape of the Bride's figure better, so that you have a clearer picture of what's actually happening in the scene.

    Adventuring Party

This scene is made up almost entirely of things I bought during the PC+ sale, and sprung from the idea of assembling the least impressive adventuring party possible. The anchor is my recurring character Bort the Present, center, who is perpetually in over his head. To his right are Sir Baldric, doughy semi-retired knight, and Suzie, sorceror's apprentice....'s niece. To his left, Jamora, aspiring spearmaiden and Fabricio the Very Mighty. It's my first scene with Terradome 3, and I used it basically out of the box, but will play around with it more. Maybe there's a more realistic grass texture within Terradome, maybe I should have just dropped some of Erock's grass to anchor them to the scene better, maybe a lot of things. For now, here it is.

    Hands Full

My other favorite X-Man (X-Person?), doing what she does best: wrecking stuff. Again, most of the items in this were acquired during the recent sales, and this is my first scene with TerraLuna, which is very easy and satisfying to use. I tried to put some TerraDome atmosphere in there, but wasn't satisfied with how it turned out and didn't feel like putting in the work to get it where I wanted just now. I just now realized that PX Rooftop does have seperate material zones, so I could have swapped in a better brick texture, but that is a problem for another day.

    Edited for profanity

I'm rooting for them. They're pretty much perfect underdog heroes. Fabricio doesn't lift, I think?

He gets a little testy when people ask whether he can actually swing that axe.

    Hands Full 2

Did some re-texturing, since PX Rooftop clearly wasn't meant to be rendered so close up. Unfortunately, the corrugated metal wall behind her is just part of a bigger texture rather than its own surface/mesh, so that will just have to stay the way it is, but the bricks, rooftop and metal texture on whatever that structure in the middle of the scene is look a lot better to me. I also retextured the katana to be shinier, and shrank the texture on her boots, although I may re-enlarge them slightly.

    Holla

I picked up both Eden and Monique 7 as part of the PC+ sale, and coincidentally had bought Quince shortly before the sale started, so I thought I'd throw all my black characters into a scene together for the Black is Beautiful thread.

    Sentinel

I had fun putting this all together, even though I'm not particularly thrilled with how it all turned out. The thing I struggle with the most is that I want to put everything into the picture, so I often end up losing the focus. I may re-render this scene in sectors, so that each character gets their own render. That would also hopefully let me use bloom filter like I tried to do in this scene, before there were too many light sources for that to work out.
