    You're right, there isn't. But at the start the narrator describes the history of the world as the Gelfling believe it to be. And that does conflict with the movie. It takes a few episodes to understand that there isn't any conflict after all.

    Also, after watching the whole season and then watching the "making of" video, I think I'll withdraw my objection to the fact they used puppets. The CGI bit they tried to use at first didn't look at all right for the Dark Crystal we would have expected. And the extent to which they pushed puppetry based movie making is really impressive.
