Premire Artist Festival Thoughts and Questions...

CybersoxCybersox Posts: 9,578

Looks like a really slow start overall, and, as expected, it's way too dependent on buy this and get this schemes rather than actually promoting the work of individual artist.  That said, the one thing that really bothers me in the way this this initial offering is being rolled out is the use of multiple coupons with no given expiration dates on top of an additional purple bar offer for purchasers of Diego that's short-dated to expire on Tuesday. Given that the text at the top of the sale page reads  ("Daily Promotional Deals"), am I correct in interpreting that as to say that both the 2019 Fest and Thanks JW coupons are only good for today?

We're trying to minimize threads on the PA sale, keep as much info in one place, especially any problems. Please post your queries to https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/333926/remember-there-s-always-another-sale-report-sales-errors-here#latest

I love days that I am happy to wishlist items. Although, as one is Mousso's character, I know I'll be getting it. Woe is my credit balance!

My regret is that I blew my budget on the Diego 8 Pro Bundle, that I liked but not really the price, so I gotta sit out a bit and skip the deals until my wallet recovers.

    Agreed.

I was interested in the blender set but I don’t own fluidos so I’ll pass. Nothing else but the flare catches my eye.

I was really excited when I saw "1920s teen room," but... with all due respect to the creator, who has made tons of excellent sets, it doesn't really look anything like what I've seen on Downton Abbey and Poirot. x)

Yes I pictured something more iron beds with bed knobs, heavy chest of drawers maybe a wash stand and a very skinny wardrobe

And that motor bike looks a lot later model than those of the 1920s

Not to mention, it was some time later before Teen becamse a recognised thing.

I have a some really nice stuff from Tesla Corp, and will no doubt get some more... Plus (just looked), some I didn't know I had. :)

I like what it's offering (other than the bed), just not the title, so not a biggy. :)

This one here looks sort of similar to the one in the set. And this mighty steed just cracks me up.

No. No, it doesn't. Look at both the seat configuration and the fork angle. The one in the 1920's room is a much later configuration.

As someone not familiar with the PA festival - are the participating PAs selected randomly? Will the PAs rotate every day or after a certain period?

In the past it's changed every day.  The real big question I have right now is whether each day's offer will stay up for more than one day, as the literal verbiage in the ad suggests otherwise.  Unfortunately, for the last few years it's been clear that clarity and making sure that promotions actually work the way they're advertised is not one of the current DAZ marketing department's strong suits.  (see the current mess with the JW coupon.)

Oh, right. It has that longer seat instead of the bicycle-style one. That does look more 50s, or thereabouts. Going by the pictures that came up when I googled for "30s motorbikes," some models had the angled fork, but none of the 20s models seem to have had it.

Thank you that's useful to know. I hope the issues with coupons will be fixed.

the current day is good other than the new items not really anything i need..BUT ... it is possible to get more than one HD free item in separate transactions, so a good time to get a couple needed ones at basically very low pricing ... Right now I have aq $10 new item in cart along with a G8 HD item... so $10 for both .. it ends up being an 82% discount for both, which is rare for HD product

I agree...the one in the set screamed 60's or '70s to me when I first laid eyes on it. LOL  Don't get me wrong, it's a nice bike...but struck me as out of place with the rest of the set. *shrug*

Unfortunately for me the only HD addon I'm interested in currently is the Nix HD addon and it's not included in the offer :(

I guess we're looking at the 1920s room all wrong. It's not supposed to be the bedroom of any typical 13-18-year-old, it's the home of one very specific kid who rents a one-room flat, has a penchant for drawing maps, and owns a secret prototype motorbike. Hey, I like that idea!

I bought the room, it caught my eye instantly but I waited until this morning to get it and the glow jewelry (from FastGrab). I chose the Teen HD add-on for G2M since I still probably use G2M most of all. The room is perfect to show off my renderer, and I could see it as a sort of home base for a Goonies/Stranger Things/Stand by Me etc. group set ~100 years ago. I don't see a lot of stuff any more that catches my eye on here, but the room was too cool to pass up.

Why would a teen store a motorbike in their (huge) bedroom anyway? Who's mom is going to allow bringing that dirty gasoline-filled thing into the house? surprise

  • If the rest of the PA festival is anything like this first day's offerings, it seems like new releases are going to be the best deals, with random sprinklings of good deals on older products. The main deal on featured artists and other older items without additional coupons doesn't seem like a more-than-usual deal.

  • barbultbarbult Posts: 26,586

I thought the 20% off only 4 items was a little strange. The free HD item counted as one of the four, so what happened is that I ended up NOT buying one of the new releases I was interested in.

  • WinterMoonWinterMoon Posts: 2,016

I picked up some items from Fast Grab instead. x) It's only the first day, and this festival lasts a month (or more). I don't expect to find offers I can't pass up every day.

Seriously?  I hadn't realized that the free item counted against the total if you were buying new items, but I was looking at using the coupon for older content since you can't use it at the same time as the JW coupon.  Who in the heck does DAZ have coordinatiing all this stuff these days, a glue-sniffing moose?

I didn't even let my kids bring their bicycles in the house. LOL.

Yes, the free item counted as one of the 4. I originally had 2 of today's new releases, 2 "special items" and 1 free HD. Result: coupon invalid. I removed one new release and the coupon worked. I purchased soon after the sale began, so it is possible that rules have been updated, but I don't know. I didn't bother to post in the "sale problems" thread. I figured it was like the long-standing problem of using a PC+ coupon with a free item in the cart. That problem has never been fixed. We are just told not to do that. I figured this was more of the same. "Free" means you lose out on other coupon benefits, so, not as "Free" as one would hope.
