I wasn’t free it’s been pulled from the store so shows as free due to the limitations of the store software

I see that all the time when the sales are in the process of changing over...I keep putting them in my cart hoping one will actually go through, but so far, no luck. :D

How many YEARS have DAZ been doing this? By now, one would think they'd know how to make a Web store work properly (and how to make a search function work properly).

They’re not the one developing the software, they use an existing e-commerce solution.

No excuse! They have been aware of the problems for years, one would presume. Yet nothing is done, forums are flooded with complaints. Truely unbelievable how they can get away with it. Personally I've lost faith in the DAZ store, and now spend a fraction of what I used to.

Daz doesn’t need to develop the software themselves; they just need to make better choices about which software they use.

It happens every single night and we all know these new products aren't going to be free, what is the big deal? Sheesh.

Being a web designer for a living, I understand that you can have the best website, content, or servers in the world, but you CANNOT control The Internet, or how data propagates through it. Sort of like if I am driving my car when suddenly traffic comes to a standstill, so I fire off a mean, nasty, angry letter to my car manufacturer.  To what end? No car manufacturer can control current local traffic and it is misplaced emotion to blame them.

If you've been around the DAZ Store long enough you know to expect the 'free' or 'undefined' prices at change-over and that it takes a little time for the sales to kick in properly. <shrug>  Things don't always go as we hoped and we all handle disappointment in different ways. The beauty of the situation is that we all have the freedom to shop elsewhere.  As for me, I'll be sitting here at 2:03 a.m. local time pressing F5 repeatedly until the new items post in my browser. I've never felt put-out or cheated by this (well, except for that one time, but I'm over it now).

This particular weirdness isn't the normal store change over though, it's what happens when an item gets removed. Hopefully this is just a weird coincidence that multiple items got removed recently and not a trend.

There was one instance of 'product removal' last year that affected me directly. I was there at the changeover and put the item in my cart only to have it disappear from the store for a period of time. I believe in that case it was as simple as there were real-world labels (trademarked/copyrighted) on makeup models. I am curious what the 'issue' was with The Botanical Space Lab though.  Just a store glitch, or..?

We don't know since they usually don't tell us why items get removed. It's usually just speculation unless the vendor says what happened elsewhere.

But you can't buy the same things there, DAZ has sort of a monopoly in that respect.

Being a former programmer of several commercial websites, I know updates can take time to propagate across the internet.

However.. When my software created a NEW page with special deals, that page would only load with the prices set at the moment of release for the products on that page. If the new prices were set before that page was created, then the new page would show those new prices. But if the client decided to open up the new page, then go for coffee and maybe breakfast, and then finally decide to update the prices, then yes, it would show the wrong prices, simply because the server didn't even get the correct prices yet. And that has NOTHING to do with latency or ISPs keeping copies of heavily visited websites. It could only ever be the result of the client doing his daily update in the wrong order, as well as taking his sweet time for it. It's that, or the software for the web store used by DAZ is rather crappy..

Let me make an analogy to a brick and mortar store, since my lady friend owns two.
If a customer has an idea to improve the layout of her store to make shopping easier, she will listen to them. If it's something that she can't change because the building is leased, she communicates with the landlord and asks for the building to be changed/modified.
Sometimes the building can't be changed, (load bearing walls), sometimes it can (partition walls, new fixtures, better lighting).
    But she appreciates suggestions.
DAZ may not be able to change the software, but they can pressure the people who can.
This is why I prefer the brick and mortar, the personal touch. And it's why DAZ Customer service is so highly regarded.
But the website needs to be fixed, someone can fix it, and they should do so.
The solution is not to tell a customer "If you don't like it, shop somewhere else" unless said customer gets way out of bounds.

I actually didn't notice the store does that with new releases until recently (just started staying up to check out the new releases and deals).  I was so confused that first day.  Whenever I see "free," I always figure it's just the new releases getting into the system.  And if it's actually something for free, I'll see it under the freebie section (which I keep bookmarked).

If by freebie section you mean The DAZ Free item block you see in the scrolling banner (i.e. this section: https://www.daz3d.com/free-3d-models), you should be aware that those are only the items DAZ puts up as available for 2 weeks. There are also a lot of other freebies available in the store. A better practice to see all the store freebies is to sort the store by price low to high.

Oh, I do that as well.  Normally, I'll learn about any other free items in the store through the weekly email.

In layman's terms, if Daz were to edit the main sales page that lists the missing product, that sale page would go 404 for several hours, meaning that NO one would see that page and that would have a direct effect on the day's sales.

The "BIG DEAL" is they SAY they are free but they are NOT. How would you like to see a gas station advertise free gas and then find out when you go in to get it it is not free at all?!!

I agree. DAZ does not seem to care. Well, my spending has dropped by a large margine and I think it will continue to do so. Even the quality of many of the products are no longer what they once were and the prices continue to climb.
