I've successfully used earlier Dforce hairs by this PA on men, back when the PA was still making dynamic hair based on the cloth Dforce engine. Classic Long Hair, specifically, makes a solid Fabio type male long hair. I'm not sure what's involved in making the new strand based dynamic hairs attach themselves to a figure they were not designed for, and would have to experiment with the ones I already own.
I tried it on Shang and it didn't stay put after I posed him. Then, on a G8F it worked fine. That was the extent of my experimentation.
dForce hair will not work on figures other than they were created for.
If they are created for a haircap, then they will follow the haircap to whatever you can adapt it to.
Virgin doesn't use a haircap, so it's G8F specific.
But couldn't we the-o-retically pose the hair on a G8F and then move it to a G8M? Or use the Cross-Figure utility?
more likely you need her UV
just guessing
Topology is important.
Wow that sucks big time! so you're saying it's will only suit one figure, unlike poly hair that can be converted to different figures. Didn't see that coming !
Agreed * Sigh!
Hi everyone, there is a simple way how to fit dForce Virgin hair to G8 males:
1. We need a hair with sculp ( for example Toulouse Hair - it´s free)
2. Fit Toulouse Hair to G8 female
3. Fit dForce Virgin Hair to Toulouse Hair
4. Fit Toulouse Hair to G8 Male, in the pop-up dialog select G8 Female
5. Turn-off Toulouse Hair in Scene Tab
6. Hair strands are following polygon normals, if the polygon normal is changed, hair strand is changing its direction too. It happens when morphs are applied, especially extreme ones ( neck part,etc...)
Excellent!
I have a different method that ive used for all generations of genesis females and it also works pretty good with the males as well (without the extra memory of an additional hair). While I havent tried this with your new hair (dont have it yet
) I use it with you classic long hair all the time.
Autofit hair to genesis figure. At prompt select genesis 8 female as original figure. Select short hair as the type of item. Now, when putting the hair on g2f, I dont have a G8 clone so I have also selected Genesis 3 female as the original figure. After the hair is fitted, select it in the scene tree. Select the bone tool and starting with the hip bone of the hair, delete every bone until you get to the head and then the hair will be ready for simulation. In the case of some of the males there may still be a little kink around the shoulders so extra initialization time might be needed for the simulation but I havent had this problem with the older genesis females.
Your method is faster for sure.
Your work is fantastic. Im really a fan.
Ive refined my method. This should work well and have no kink resulting from the autofit (I think). I dont think it will work this way exactly for older generations. Autofit hair to G8M. Select G8F as original and short hair as object type. After autofit completes, select hair in scene tree. Select bone tool. Starting with the hair hip bone, delete all bones untile you get to the head bone. Then you will want to parent the hair to the G8M head. Then delete the Hair head bone. The hair should now simulate kink free. Ive just tried this with Lindays classic long hair, but if the new hair works like the classic long hair, I would think that this method should work as well. Pictures coming shortly
Here is Lindays classic Long hair on G8M Kingston that I applied using the steps above. I have some of Lindays other dforce hairs as well so ill try my technique on them just to make sure that this isnt a fluke.
Wow, it looks great and you´ve figured it out on your own just fine...now it seems like we should pay more attention to male haircuts, hmmmm....
Works just fine on Lindays Side Layered Messy Hair with dForce for Genesis 8 Female(s) . One thing I did notice is that after the simulation I changed Edwards expression which did slightly change the shape of the hair. This would probably happen with all Lindays dforce hair using my method. I then deleted the lower jaw bone of the hair and that fixed some of the deformtion. Im thinking that the only bone that would have to remain would be the upper face rig. Ill have to experiment with that later. Ultimately though, I think Lindays method will be faster and less fussier than mine. And if you are concerned with the extra memory costs from parenting Lindays hair to anothers scalp, you can always reduce/ remove maps, etc.
A couple more examples, renders cancelled early in the interest of time.
Lol, yah.your method is easier though. I think dforce hair for males would be really fun. Think 80's glam rock!
I try very hard not to.. But some thoughts cannot be unthought.
Well at least it can be done thanks Linday !
Thank you, Anotherusername and Linday, they look fantastic!
Youre welcome
Lol, Ahhh... such (lack of) memories.
You do realize you are testing the older type dforce hair and not the new one that is a totally different tech, right?
Yah, specifically Lindays hair. I wasnt very specific in writing all this down though. But the thread is about Lindays new Virgin hair and I do mention the two hair styles that I did use as Lindays. I said nothing about the new strand hair, cant remember what its called.
Linday's new hair is the new dforce hair, which starts as strand based, and as I understand from this thread it behaves differently from the old hairs. So things that work on old hairs that used cloth dforce may not apply to the new strand based hairs.
This confusion has come up a few times because people started calling hair products "dforce" when they used cloth dforce, then DAZ introduced the new hair with the same dforce name.
Ah, I did not know that. Thanks AlmightyQUEST. Well my method might not work then. Ill have to try it when I get the hair. My mistake FSMCDesigns.
Well anyone wanting to know how to use Lindays older dforce hair with G8M, the method I listed works.
