There seems to be a lot of threads floating around complaining about sales,

    actual sales

it’s really adding nothing to the discussions

I have been repeatedly told to post in here

  • Do you never see the banner carousel at the top of the page when you click on "shop"?

Yes, I see that alright, and usually I have no trouble when I click on the tab on these selections to get to the main ad page and scroll down. Having no trouble cliking on the new ad today to get the details for that sale either. But for some reason I could not get anywhere clicking on those flash sale tabs yesterday. Too bad as some sounded interesting to me. Sounds like the problem was unique to me though as no one else seems to be mentioning having any trouble (and might explain why you and anyone else can't seem to grasp what my problem even *is*; evidently through no fault of your own). Oh well... too fricking late now. Still wish i knew what the problem was so I know what to do if it happens again. Has happened once or twice before a few months ago; but fortunately no other times i am aware of.

You're not the only one having mentioned that, actually. There was no special link setup behind yesterday's banners, they simply redirected you to the main store page and you had to filler the products by vendor yourself.

Links to filter the products more easily were provided by users in the "Flash sale alert" and "There's always another sale" threads.

This was happening for everyone - those flash sales just contained a link to the main shop page, so if you were already on that page then it would appear to do nothing. (If you hover your cursor over the banner notices then you'll see which ones lead to another page and which just lead back to the main shop page.)

Keep in touch with this thread, where people were helpfully posting links to the lists of products actually available in those sales - it's a really useful thread for anyone who shops here, by the way: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/333926/remember-there-s-always-another-sale-report-sales-errors-here#latest

I don't care if I miss a flash sale or not. I'm mostly not gonna spend money on 90% of the new stuff anyway. I live in the US -CST in Texas which is 2 hr ahead of Salt Lake,, so it's not a matter of time really, it's just a matter of meh...lack of interest, moving on. And as many have said, we have stuff to do in our lives, and I don't set an alarm on my phone to check Daz every 4 hours so that I don't miss a sale (at least I don't).. Life trumps Daz all day every day for many of us. The 'other' store has an outright countdown on the product page of hours, minutes and seconds to let you decide for maybe a day or two (or even more if you caught it at the beginning of the sale). That to me makes a whole lot more sense.

I know precisely how you feel.  I used to get excited for new DAZ products until they started making the majority of them apparently Iray only, and i can't seem to get Iray to work at all well most times, and when it does work it seems to take half of forever before it reaches a point where I can save the render I am working on. That and most new products these these seem to focus on women and (miostly seoteric-looking) woman's props; which for the most part I couldn't give a rat's derriere about. My enthusiam had already waned when they went from the original Genesis (with no specific geneder settings) to Genesis 2 9and beyond0 where most clothes, hair styles, morphs or what-not fit only one render; forcing you to buy essentially the same prop twice if you wanted to use the product on either/both. I don't know about you, but i felt cheated when they did that. Also I don't see sufficient differences between one generation of genesis and the next to make new generations even remotely worthwhile - let alone repeat props for them. Most times I still just use the original genesis because of its greater utility/versatility and ignore most of the more recent ones unless there is a specific prop i want to use that won't fit on the original model.

End of rant. Sorry about that. devil

A countdown clock would be great, I've been caught a few times filling up my cart, flicking back and forth checking on item requirements when all of a sudden the prices revert when i go to check out

Yup - last night, went to check out... One minute after midnight.  Oops.  Sale no longer valid, dump the cart, and wish either that I had simply avoided looking at the sale in the first place and gone to bed, or been less greedy with what I was trying to justify stuffing into my cart and just checked out with one or two things.

If you get the promo emails, you can see from the time stamp approximately when the 4 hours begins.

I have to admit, that I'm a technological dinosaur, who checks his email about once a week, as there's usually nothing important send to me as email... so an email notification would be of no use for me (and mayhaps some other dinosaurs, too)

A timer on the shop page should (!) be easy to implement, I'd say. Other shops have managed to implement it.

A timer on the shop page should (!) be easy to implement, I'd say. Other shops have managed to implement it.

So you don't check your email, but you'd remember to check the Daz Store every 4 hours?

A timer requires coding. I'm against that (for more work for the worker reasons). Maybe they put in the fine print...when...

Or maybe not, if the person that does the fine print (created when the sale is developed) isn't the same person who launches the actual sale.

I'm sure a huge chunk of the sales configuration and settings/qualifiers are not done in real time.

    ----------

The next, best level is a Daz Store APP that sends you every-dang-update-all-day SPAM notices - right to your phone.

Unless you're still using a land line.

    lol

    -------------

I would LOVE a timer, but a timer might make everyone procrastinate and WAIT until the last possible minute.

And right before it expires you'd have people complaining that the cart-swapping takes too long and Daz should hold the sale once you put anything from the sale in your basket.

You know, until you're done shopping. And we still have the issue of WHEN to start these sales.

I mean, a  supermarket has a circular...ads in the paper, commercials on TV..Daz does all of this already with the news letters, banners and nightly sales start.
A flash-flash sale is the equivalent of the Store Manager making a bunch of items on an end-cap go on sale. The sale ends when stock runs out or the manager takes the sign down.

You don't put those in the circular - and those sales are for the customers IN the Store. If you weren't shopping right then, you miss out.

    --------------

I wish Daz would buy out his browser extension and make it part of Daz to get notices and let us choose which ones to get.

If you're that hardcore that every 4-hour Flash sale is important, you gotta meet them half way and do something on your end.

I dunno, make a second and REAL email that you do check often.

And only use that for important contacts and let the other stay loaded with junk.

To be honest, that exists, but so few of you were interested in it, it hasn't left the alpha stage. I use it. It's great for notifications on the go.

I would get it, but I don't know how I'd feel if, I was suddenly woken up by a notice that there's a flash sale. Then I'd snooze the app and forget and miss all the important updates.

It would need a lot of customizing to NOT tell me there's a sale at the normal Daz midnight, but let me know about everything else.

The items changing in the Flash section is almost spam now- since it's rarely anything I ever want, but today, luckily, it has a hair item I've been wanting.

    -----------

For me, this is a habit. I check it at Daz midnight or just after, follow all of the browser notifications and pop in often....

Even for stuff I know I'm not buying, I like to see the promos and read the descriptions.
