Using Dynamic Pillows

Doc AcmeDoc Acme Posts: 1,153

I've had this product: https://www.daz3d.com/pillows for awhile & thought I looked & played with it some, but now not sure how to use it.  I have the companion tool https://www.daz3d.com/dynamic-clothing-control but the docs all assume you have an item loaded, but that's the problem.  I have single item shapes with a .daz extension as well as .dsb which I'm assuming are materials, but how do you actually load these?

  • The .daz files should appear in your content folders like .duf files.

Whether double clicking or chosing Merge into a new empty scene, all I end up with is a Camera.  Do I need some other object first perhaps?

  • There was an issue with one of the betas where installing the beta dynamic clothing control broke it and the release version.  The fix was to uninstall/reinstall the release version of the dynamic clothing control.

Thanks RobotHeadArt.  I'll give that a shot.

Drat.  Still a no go.  Un/re installed the Pillows as swell.

Which version of DAZ Studio are you using? The .daz files didn't work in DS 4.10.xxx but they work fine for me in DS 4.11.xxx (can't remember exactly what the current release number is)

I'm using 4.12 beta with no issues.

    They're optitex.

They will dforce well though, but you'll need to manually add the dforce modifier.

Scaled the pillow up, converted the shader to Iray, and added a displacement out of curiosity. The stone is a spere with a shader added https://www.daz3d.com/iray-sequins-shader and tweaked for the effect

But how do I do that since I can't even get the item into the scene?

Well, it loads as normal via content library; I neither like nor use smart content, so no idea on that.

If you're not able to load it; uninstall it then re-install; perhaps re-download before installing again.

I tried in 4.10, 4.11 and 4.12 beta; whichever library you installed it too (I have multiple), it will be under Dynamic Clothing > Pillow Set > Heart; load as normal.

As you can see, the image shows three of my libraries and I installed it in Daz Props

Have you looked in the log file for error messages? There should be something going on.

In DAZ Studio go to Help --> About Installed Plugins, scroll down and look for Dynamic Cloth Control.  Does it have a green plug icon next to it?

No it doesn't.  Didn't know I had an SN to install so let me take care of that & report back.

    Yup. that was the problem.

Gee, wouldn't it make more sense for it to report that it's plug-in isn't registered that to just blink & do nothing?

Thanks all for help sussing this out.
