I am another one very excited to finally see a new dog model, I had not expected it at all. I am a bit disappointed that there is no fiber-mesh hair, but so far they have picked short haired breeds so hopefully the long haired breeds are coming, and will have proper hair. Hopefully AM will be involved in any additional hair options as that is the only way we will get catalyzer options.

I recall AM saying he was working on a dog model, but that was a long time ago (almost 2 years), so I wonder if DAZ bought out his work in progress in order to finish it, and so allowing him to concentrate on the wild animal creations he prefers.

A question for those that know more about dogs than me, what breed is the Base Dog 8? Also what breed is the puppy?

I would be curious to know what morphs and expressions come with the base dog, as I can not look at the file list since there is no readme page for base dog 8.

I just need to decide what to pick up. My favourite breed is golden retriever, but that is basically a labrador with a decent fur option.

I know this is a bit late but theBenji the puppy is a French Mastiff.

OK, thanks for that. I am not a big fan of Benji, not my taste of dog, I would prefer a somewhat cuter breed for the puppy.

Wellmaybe if we beg enough it'll happen,I can't model or I would I just play with scaleing until I think I'm close or I break the mesh ...this is DAZ Dog8 compared to LoRez Dog with the chiwawa morph (yes I know that's not the rifght spelling but sommetimes you just got to spell what you hear)

For those interested, you can use dForce to manipulate the dog's leash. It was used in the following image instead of messing with bones. Details here.

Here is another experiment with my custom LAMH preset.  This time I shortened it to feel a little more realistic on the french bulldog. Plus I wanted to compare it to the LAMH Presets for the HiveWire House Cat By Saiyaness.  No post work

Yep, that's the right sort-of-plushy texture that works for a smooth-coated beast. Complete with the inner ear hair.

Are you going to make that available? Either as a product or uploaded as a preset to AM's Furry Things site?

Thank you for your encouragement, I posted my old version back on June 27 in this thread.  This version is just that preset with the length reduced. It's very rough and I am sure there are still lots of problems with it because I am just learning how to make LAMH preset. I can post this version if there is interest having an updated version

Attached is the LAMH preset I used for the French bulldog in my latest image. It is very rough, but maybe some one could improve upon my mistakes.  Let me know if you experience any problems with it, or make any improvements. :)

  • Hi Can someone please help me? I have no idea why I'm getting this error but the dog I just bought doesn't load correctly. I don't know where to find these missing files.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the dog with no luck.  I need this for work. If anyone can direct me to an answer I would greatly appreciate it.

The blocks occur when the data files cannot be found, as described in the missing files dialogue. First thing is to check if the dsf files are in the locations in the correct data folder path as indicated above. It looks like either the data got installed incorrectly or to a Library that isn't mapped in your Content Directory.

Here is a picture of mine showing the path (on my G drive). Check yours is the same.

If you purchased this: https://www.daz3d.com/labrador-for-daz-dog-8 you must have the base dog to be able to use it, which is here: https://www.daz3d.com/daz-dog-8

check to make sure you have the base Daz Dog 8 installed.

Quite a plausible coyote, actually. At least from a distance.

Thank you everyone for your kindness and for sharing your inspirational images.

I couldn't resist trying my custom "Look at My Hair " preset on the "French Bulldog for Daz Dog 8" in DAZ Studio and Iray.  It's a little more fluffy than a real bulldog, but I liked his little beard.  I also threw in "Wolf 2.0 by AM" using "LAMH 2 Iray Catalyzer" for inspiration on what the possibilities a pro could do with Dog 8 if we are so lucky to get some dogs from AM. :)
    No post work

I agree that we need a better solution than LAMH for fur.  LAMH works great for 3Delight, but is a pain to use for Iray. LAMH 2 Iray Catalyzer makes using fur in Iray so much easier, but it still only works on AM's animals.  I like the fibermesh hair for "Benji The Puppy HD for Daz Dog 8", but it's a little too short.  Hopefully we will get some fluffy dogs soon.

Where can I find a LAMHpreset for daz dog 8?

    Tracking them down. Thanks :)

Question about the daz dog 8 ... I notice the bulldog has a cropped tail, which I need for a character, but on a lab/hound-type breed (Weimaraner). Is that sort of mixing possible with daz dog 8, and how will the LAMH preset deal with such a morph like a cropped tail?

@WillowRaven Dog 8 comes with a "Tail Dock" morph and crop it like that. /data/DAZ 3D/Dog 8/Dog 8/Morphs/DAZ 3D/Base/PBMTailDock.dsf from the File List. IDK about the LAMH presets, haven't used it for that.
