Daz3D gives some love to Hexagon - not just Studio
The advertising bots placed an ad for Hexagon in my feed instead of the usual half-naked Vicky. Probably old hat for many of you, but new for me. I merely report the change in the ads that I see, I am refraining from speculating about any possible broader meaning. .
- Note that I am currently traveling away from home, so the change in ads could be related to the change in my location. (I just speculated, didn't I).

I've been seeing a few more ads like this about Hexagon being a free download in the past few weeks. It's a nice change from the regular ads I see with the latest female figures. Once in a while I actually see an ad featuring a male figure which is especially nice to see.
Nice starter modeler for new users who don't want to mess with blender interface. I use silo and Lightwave myself, but you can't beat free. If daz updates Hex to work better it is a great modeler that is being neglected.
Still version 2.5 which has been around forever.
Well it was updated recently, among others to 64 bit.
Greetings,
@Taoz - Not for the Mac, as far as I can tell. I'd like that a lot if it were...

No, looks like you're right, but it appears that they're working in it.
....actually the Blender 2.8 Beta finally offers a UI that is pointer device driven and has a cleaner tab structure with Icon based menus. Takes a lot of the keyboarding and scripting drudgery out. Still it is a more complex programme than HExagon, but I find it much easier to grasp now that I am not required to deal with and memorise hot key combinations.
Yeah, I think the "Blender interface is horrible" concern is for most people pretty much invalid now that 2.8 is ready. And I think it will be out next week or so, no longer beta.
I really don't care what people use, but my advice for those who want to do modelling and texturing, and open up a whole new world of very well done features that you probably didn't even know it has available, is to spend some time and try 2.8. It's pretty amazing. The UV mapping is vastly improved IMO, the compositing is excellent, the physics simulations are insane, it's even got a Marvelous Designer-type of cloth sim plugin (which I meant to try out this weekend but haven't gotten to it yet...), and the list goes on and on. And this thing is continuously being developed by a big team of software devs, and there are tons of well done plugins.
Again, it's up to you what you use, but for a free piece of software Blender is incredible, IMO.
I've been using 2.8 beta and I love it....night and day compared to older versions of Blender!
...yeah the UI improvements in the 2.8 beta turned this long time Blender "avoider" and critic into an "adopter".
