As always I wait patiently for Diva's renders to see how she looks out of the box :)
David
I have the banner for Elithia offer in the forum but when I go to my messages it isn't there, I also don't have and never had ( as I recall) a Victoria birthday coupon. I hate to dismiss the Elethia one to see if there is a Victoria one as some said its hiding behind and then loose it also as their is nothing in my exclusive offers
My first impression is a cross between a greek goddess that met up with Zelara (which I love love)..makeup.wise.but tribal at the same time. kinda of a scifi greek goddess warrior (or my imaginings to turn her into one).. the Valeria Hair is outstanding along with the braids
Got the banner. Got the Gift Card. Got the Freebies. Shopping cart locked and very loaded. I'm psyched - it is yet another GREAT deal. Thanks DAZ!
Thanks yes it is in the Newsletter section ... weird
.. but nope no Victoria Birthday one
Ellithia 8 - Out of the box. I think she looks great!
I really like her thicker/curvier shape. Her skin is really nice too, imo.
heheh
Another great model!
I disagree, she’s too elegant of stature for someone who’s a warrior goddess in my book. Plus it looks lighting plays a major role in her appearance. Some she looks 40ish, some early twenties. To some maybe versatile, to me a hindrance. (though I do love the red and black promo)
Well I figured it would be on the first page but...Really? complaining about that? Just how long should Daz wait before they put out "another very white female" I seem to remember two elderly asians, two Indians and a baby quite recently... But I agree with you about the armor, the armor is pretty much what made me decide not to get the pro bundle.
Introducing Ellithia 8 — the gracefully aging lovechild of Olympia, Alexandra, and Lilith!
Yeah, not sure about this one — for a base figure, it's not really adding anything truly unique to the Genesis 8 gene pool.
Those braids are cool though...
The general point is presumably that there is a lot of barely touched ground.
Arab, Hispanic, Slavic, Hellenic, Egyptian, Native American, etc... in a lot of cases, character names that would suggest one or other of these ethnicities instead end up as something much more generic (or, if I'm generous, someone with mix of that ethnicity). For example, Vladimir, a distinctly Slavic name, isn't particularly Slavic in appearance. (In fact, a lot of the bundle theme went more Nordic).
Although I like Ellithea, she doesn't add as much breadth to people's collection as it would be to get an entirely new choice of ethnicity (or even something less imaginative, like a new Tween Julie or Ryan, as that age band is untouched by G8 DOs).
I like her. She's almost more Lilith than Lilth 8.
I like her well enough. I just wish I could get some makeup that doesn't look like it was put on with a mortar sprayer ;). Most of it is just way too heavy, especially for daytime wear. I realize it doesn't matter when you're half-naked in a temple fighting monsters, but for more mundane scenes, it does matter ;). I think there's one makeup included that doesn't totally put me off.

That looks fantastic! Lovely render!
She looks very "vamp" here. Nicely done! :)
Here are the three pro bundle girls. From left to right - Ellithia 8, Amatista, and Lyssa. All "out of the box" except I lowered Lyssa's duel lobe reflectivity setting a tad. The intense lighting was making her a little shiny. I probably should have lowered Ellithia's just a smidge too.
Like most (all?) the other base models in the G8F lineup, the makeup is just a Diffuse overlay (which you can use on any other figure).
Just dial down the Diffuse Overlay Weight in the Surface tab (Face & Lips surfaces especially), and it should make the makeup layer less heavy.
Thanks Diva. Yah, I like the vamp look. Im also trying to simulate the same sort of film and camera action that you would see in a soap opera.
Thanks! Like you did with your lovely renders, I had to show a little more of the skin textures, which are rather nice (although I did use Fuseling/Sickleyield's Beautiful Skins product).
Of course, I did a little post-render editing as well. Pump up the contrast, added some soft focus effect. The rendered image is jut a step in the process for me.
...
So, like I said, Diffuse Overlay Weight. That's the key Surface setting for G8F base models. The makeup is an overlay map, not a standalone diffuse map for the face. Just drop the Overlay Weight, kind of like dropping the Opacity map weight. It should tame the makeup a little bit.
Here's a quick-ish render using Face MU 01, with the Diffuse Overlay Weight on the Face and Lips surfaces set to ~0.50. I can make the makeup even less "clownface", but this was just an experiment (and it's not too bad).
There's a lot of armour in market that's not too strenuously realistic, but this set... Holy cow. Not just no protection in vital areas, but what are those giant bizarre knee cops on her hips and shoulders? How does she _not_ slice her elbow open on the weird lames sticking out from the hip one? Why are there actual (dull, but actual) scythe blades poised to dig into her hip bones the first time she gets hit or bumped in any way there? Is that an ear horn over her sternum so she can whisper to her heart that she's sorry for not protecting it, as it catches every weapon coming her way? Why does she have six guide rails around her shoulders to guarantee no strike that comes at those areas accidentally glances off?
I know not everyone knows everything about ancient armour, and I know sometimes creativity trumps realism, and that's cool too... But I don't honestly recall the last time a set of armour made me scratch my head and say "Dude, what the actual f**k." with such fervor, and in as many different ways.
Yeah this one makes me wonder as well, some of us have to have at least a semblance of reality for the armor we put on our characters, I can't even look at it and say yeah it's magic which is why it reveals so much... can't do it with all the weird parts. I mean hell, if she raises both arms at the same time she will smash her own head. And if the creator reads this, I am sorry, but that design is just crazy.
And yeah I am the one who is constantly trying to get content creators to realize how chain armor hangs.
Very nice work on the makeup. I will def try
Alright, let's give this a try...
Yeah, Iron Warrior doesn't seem like a really fantastic fit for a character description. She seems a little less Athena and a little more Hera. Otherwise, the body shape is great! She could make a good stand in for Lilith with the right texture pack and clothes. Though now I kinda wish the HD morph wasn't so expensive...
My first thought looking at the makeup options was that she needs to buy herself some eyeshadow blending brushes and learn to blend! Even for the more editorial makeup options, it doesn't remotely look or behave like actual cosmetic products. But on the whole, I think she's a nice figure. And I like that she appears to hit an age appearance that is what I prefer to work with.
The Iron Warrior for G8 females is actually created by a group of artists: Daz Originals, Bluebird, Moonscape Graphics, Ravenhair, and Sade. There is a lot of people involved in it's content creation. I don't know exactly know who the brainchild is but the final outcome speaks for itself.
I am not sure what they are trying to do with this outfit, or want us to do with it. It looks fashionable though especially when another set of shaders is applied. But I wouldn't use it to defend a character from a formidable opponent or enemy.
I raised her render subd to 3 and I got some nice details from the base model. Im wondering if the HD might be a bit severe?...
I dont usually use the Daz makeup that comes with the models anymore. If I do use makeup, I use https://www.daz3d.com/ultimate-make-up-for-genesis-8-female-s . I like this package alot.
Thanks.I'll give it a try :). Pretty renders too btw :)
