Yeah, I feel the same. That really has not helped things with me.
Also...DAZ Original characters are not what they used to be. They've not become worse or anything, but I no longer feel they represent the absolute top of character creation, so I sideline them more and more in favor of characters from Kayleyss, bluejaunte, Saiyaness, RareStone and of course Raiya. Again, the DAZ characters are good quality, but I don't feel they hold quite the importance they used to. So I am getting less and less willing to buy them at a premium price.
Also there's the issue with variety. I think it is really great that DAZ is offering now characters of all ages and no longer people only between 18 and 30. But I feel like it has really come at the cost of different body types and to a lesser degree ethnicities. There's notable exceptions, of course, Latonya for example is really a standout character. But the majority of characters look like very slight variations on the same mid-twenty, slender white supermodel or that same slender white supermodel in various later life-stages. There is variation but almost exclusively in the age department. That is good, but I really feel my library is getting pretty saturated in that section by now.
Elithia is the best example. She seems to be the counterpart to Elios, but he's Thor and she's, like....Mrs. Robinson? Yeah I get they're both god-themed, but wasn't that Olympia's thing? And why not go for something more along the lines of Ophelia 7? That would have been a slightly more fitting counterpart.
In the end, if I need a volouptous goth, I go with Lilith 7, if I need a buff character I go with Rune 7, Ophelia 7, Gia 7 or Karen 7 and if I need someone a little less slender I go with Bethany 7 or Olympia 7. After 2 years of Genesis 8 that is a little disheartening. And when PA's offer characters of similar or better quality, well, there's even less reason to go for the DAZ Original.
They gave me this one randomly :) I never felt the need to change it.
I understand that, frequent buyers probably already have all Gen 7 pro bundles. However giving credit to buy old products go in the opposite direction. It is hard to me to found an interesting product that would motivate me to buy the new bundle.
In my opinion the exclusive extra discount over the new bundle used to work better. But I can't say if the numbers are at my side.
With the extra discounts it's mildly tempting, but I just don't see anything in her bundle I'd have any use for. Plus even withe $70 daz originals bonus, being limited to select Daz Originals makes it a lot less compelling. I usually use these sales to pick up an extra two pro bundles to round out my collection, but that's not an option here. And I've already got Olympia 8. I suppose Elithia will just have to come to my collection as an add-on for some other sale in the future.
Maybe it's because after a week from launch, you rarely (extremely rarely) ever see a character based on that figure - I think there was a couple of characters you needed Nix/Zelara for a while back, but other than that there's not a lot.
It's a good thing in some respects, reducing the dependancy on having a previous character, but the Original loses some of it's 'majesty' (for want of a better word).
Will this one be up less than two weeks like Elios 8? Wanted to get that bundle but that one ended way too early. I see a few newer items are in the free stuff, but between what is there, that feeling that these are similar characters being sold elsewhere, and being miffed about Elios, I'll pass.

As I always bought much at DAZ (a bit crazy, I know), ther isn't much left, neither in the Genesis 2 blowout sale nor in the sale with the Ellithia bundle, to entice me.
And the bundle itself ... boring.
Elithia: She's like Olympia, but with a lisp. Not seeing a great reason to buy this one, but then I'm still a Genesis 3 guy really.
I have a banner offering me $60 of Daz Originals if I buy the Pro bundle, but that's replacing the $40 worth that I'd get anyway - so it's only a $20 incentive really. Think I'll pass.
Nice looking woman (and all the characters based on her, really, it's probably one of the strongest releases yet in that sense) and the hairstyles are inventive. The clothes...eh. Good thing I have No-Suit and Vyktoria's second skin body suits for modesty underlayers. With the additional coupons in play, it's a deal I could maybe go for, if I can bring myself to face all the back conversion stuff involved.
Elithia is an older goddess..but nothing about her screams warrior and her eyebrows look misaligned on base and over plucked. Not really Seeing a need for this specific niche. We have older and we have goddess and we have female warrior ad nauseum.
In fact, I automatically assumed she was an Ophelia 7/Brenna type figure and could barely contain my excitement. Quite disappointed when I couldn’t tell from Olympia.
Well they are useful in combat if you take them off and smack somebody with them :P
I think I'd be more tempted if the bonus wasn't DO items, which I've managed to collect quite a few of in the past month or so due to it being the bonus for every sale.
Like Olympia. But older. I think that is the variation that people aren't seeing.
Olympia is a warrior/goddess figure in her (late) twenties/thirties.
Ellithia strikes me more as a warrior/goddess figure in her (late) fourties/fifties, maybe well preserved somewhere into her sixties.
Put the two next to each other, and Ellithia would be passable as Olympia's mother.
Mind you, a PA can turn a figure into almost anything he or she wants, But for the base figure, we're now seeing combinations of figuretype and figureage. Yes, I know some people are waiting for more ethnic diversity as well, and I think DAZ IS working on that, but also has to tread carefully there, since they don't want to release any blatant stereotypes. That could give all kinds of annoying lawsuits and stuff. When was the last time you saw an Indian Hairdress in the Daz store? (I think there actually used to be one!) Exact same reason, they'd get their butts sued into oblivion if they did, even if they got it perfectly right..
So, the only other option they have to bridge the time to the moment they release Genesis9 (in a far and distant future, earliest would be next year), would be to come up with new and somehow distinct variations to existing models. This aged variation to Olympia is one of them. Must say, I do actually like the model for what it is.
Nobody is going to sue DAZ for releasing figures that are "blatant stereotypes," and several of the non-white core characters already run afoul of Don't Do This 101 guidelines in their packaging and marketing. There are plenty of PA products that do the same. Generally the only "punishment" companies get for this kind of thing is people telling them what not to do, asking them to do better, or getting frustrated with them, which is invariably treated as unreasonable and an incredible burden (leading many people to not bother, which is the point).

I'm buying just the hair, cuz it can be used for regular ppl too. Also, I'm dying to know where all her jewelry (and the dress if possible) came from. I hate when they don't mention it.
She kind of looks like someone I already have when she's in her default skin, and I don't care for those bright lacquered lips where the color isn't blended and comes right to the edge of the lipline. I know it's the look they're going for and maybe it fits her, but it looks like they're pasted on from one of those 'peel and stick' books I had as a kid. And to me, her skin looks too smooth. Anywho...

Looks like Shirley hair from outoftouch to me, available in the DAZ store. You might get a good price right now as a new OoT/Raiya bundle just came out.
Yeah the hairline looks similar, thank you very much. It just looked fuller in those promos, maybe they were using multiple copies or something.
Very lovely character. Price point good on the pro bundle at $37 with some add ons and my Victoria birthday coupon. Picked up the Big Cats 2 for free, which I thought I had when I bought the dforce hair for the cats but didn't. Got some other freebies too so I'm happy

Absolutely agree, Sayaness Xochil feels much more like a Base Character for me, you can use her to make a lot of "aztec woman" variations. She's definitely on my wishlist.
I like the character. She kind of straddles the line between "leading lady" and "character actress" and could go either way. Someone was listening, and we got a couple of bare-faced promos, thank goodness. Since the makeup is almost predictably ugly.
Really like the hairs. As usual I have nothing much to say about the pose sets. A couple could be useful, but I'm not likely to buy a bundle for the pose sets.
Very annoyed about the clothing. I do concede that Mada's set reminds me of that lovely neglige that she did for Monique 6, but the others range from 'stupid beond belief' to 'would be nice if it could lose the totally unconvincing and physicly impossible shoulder pieces.
I'd like to see a contest to show a way to keep the capes and lose those ungainly shoulder pieces.

Just a note that people should check their Messages > Exclusive Offers section to see if they have more than one offer in there. There are multiple banners active today -- and if you have the VICTORIA-BIRTHDAY banner, its content may have changed for the last day of its offer. (I really wish Daz would think of a different way to handle this. Overlaying banners is not the best way to work.)
