A dynamic hair system, an AI denoiser that can greatly cut down iray render times, dforce seems to be faster. Fewer crashes IME. Probably some other stuff i don't use.

Thanks. Now I have to figure out where to find these things in there.

But the rtx speed improvements are still not released, correct?

AFAIK NVidia has not yet released a version of Iray taking advantage of RTX cores, so no, DS still doesn't use them.

Will it handle the older files that are in .daz format?

IIRC the problem with .daz files were solved in one of the latest betas.

Okay, good to know! Thank you!

The Iray viewport is literally over 10 times slower in updating in 4.11, on my system (GTX 1070). So I've reverted back to 4.10.

Check what version of the driver you use, It may be too old for the version of Iray in 4.11

Hmmm. Not updating until I hear more about the iray viewport issue.

  • AnotherUserNameAnotherUserName Posts: 2,727

Has anyone spent anytime in the scene tree to see if all of those issues have been cleaned up?

Have you guys updated your graphics driver after updating to 4.11? The Iray viewport is now faster for me.

I am also seeing a vastly slower iray viewport rendering.

I updated my Nvidia drivers to the recommended one before installing Studio.

I do, however, have a ridiculously old graphics card, so may not be a good example of typical behaviour.

    GeForce GT730 :(

Studio has never been fast for me, of course, but in 4.10 it was definitely faster to see an iray preview.

Is 4.11 and automatic update? If not how do I update? Can I have both versions 4.10 and 4.11 on my system?

How about the DAZ install manager, worked like a charm for me.....and remember, newest NVIDIA drivers please!

Ok so I update the graphics card and things will be fine.

It's been a while since I had a newer version Daz installed when I already had an older version on it, will it remove the items I have installed or will it merge..been way too long since I have had to ask and not sure about today's versions and if they do that.

A couple of things to check:

1- If you're using the Iray draw style it is a lot slower with the headlamp on than with the headlamp off.  Check your headlamp setting and see if that helps.

2- For normal viewport check that your display optimization in Edit->Preferences->Interface->Display Optimization and set this value to be "Best"  So long as you have a good video card this should work fine.  If you have a really old card you may need to do "Better" or "None"

3- In that same section you can turn off Backface Lighting.  I would do this one last, a it can make infinitely thin things look odd in the viewport, but it's something to try.

2 and 3 made all the difference for me. Back to full speed now, thanks Steve.

I wounldn't say that; I've dual Quadro RTX 4000's.  Only thing I did was to NOT auto install via DIM so I could update the main app first then the balance of the 4 new items.  I did nothing else (already had the latest nVidia drivers), loaded in a previous scene & did an Iray render with just the defualts.  I rendered so quickly that I rechecked the settings.  They were at the defauts. I'm seeing at least a 5X increase.

I suspect will need to learn tweeking the tone mapping as I am seeing more fireflys than from 4.10.

That's a little alarming. I have a GeForce GTX745. I guess I'll try finding the driver update for it and mess with Daz 4.11 afterwards.

Can anyone find graphmate and keymate in the new DAZ 4.11 version? I don't see it in 4.11 but I do see it in 4.10 under windows > Panes (tabs).

Dforce seems to simulate faster, thats a big plus.

I use DIM to install updates for DS. It will show that an update is available. Be sure to install DS before installing the updated plugins. As far as I know, you can't have the older version installed at the same time as the new version. You can choose not to update DS 4.10 and install the beta of 4.11 instead because they can be installed at the same time. The beta will be updated more often though since it is their testing ground.

Yes, I have my graphmate and keymate in 4.11.

Where or how do you find your graphmate and keymate in 4.11?

I have them docked on my workspace but otherwise, the same way. Windows > panes. Maybe you need to re-install them? I was told that after a new version add-ons have to be re-installed. Ive never had to re-install them myself, so I dont know.

I have all three of these suggestions checked and my auxilary viewport is so slow that I havent even seen it activate yet. It is effectively useless. Device manager said that my drivers were up to date, but im downloading the latest off of nvidea to see if that helps. 1070ti.

Which Plug-ins will need to be updated for 4.11?

I downloaded the application from the store page and it looks like the default resources and scene builder are all ones I already have installed. 3rd-party plug-ins will probably need to be downloaded from my own content library.

It might be reasonable to put a sticky at the head of the thread to list what is known to need an update.

Some basic instructions on how to update would really have been nice, as I didn't find any and just winged it.

I don't know if I should now be updating plugins or what though.
