Fitting shoes on top of stockings

OK sorry if this have been asked a hundred times but I have been browsing forum and messing with this problem for two weeks now and still haven't found a solution to the problem.

If I fit any kind of stalkings on a female character and then add shoes the stalkings always poke through.

An examble could be fitting Beautiful Shoes Collection/Comfortable Shoes on top of any stalking (they all poke through) but I have seen the problem with any type of stalking/shoe/boot combination like the stalking have a thickness that makes it poke through but I have no idea how to ajust for that.

I have tryed to make the shoes fit stalking rather than character with no luck, i did manage to scale shoes to no pokethroug but then they where 2x size :)

Im hoping someone have a solution to this problem please keep in mind that though I have been messing with daz for months im still confused where to find controls.

  • Maybe try setting the collision on the shoes to the stocking and not the figure?

If you're not sure how to set collisions check the pics below.  Scene Tab, Select Shoes, Parameter Tab, General>Transform>Mesh Smoothing options.

If you dont see a mesh smoothing option then try this.  Scene Tab, Select Shoes, Click the icon i've circled, Edit, Geometry, Add Smoothing Modifier.  Once you've added that then retry the previous step in the first pic i posted.

Now have Mesh Smothing but setting collision item to stalkings make program reset to none.

    Added screen.

You seem to be altering the collision item of the stockings themselves, they should remain colliding with G8F. You need to set the collision of the shoes to the stockings.

If you click on the collision box a window should appear where you should be able to find and select the stalkings.

Or what happens if you do that?

Not really the boots are now distorted.

Collision should never need to be that high.

Have you tried hiding the feet and toes, on the tights as well as the figure.

Finding the rigtht combination of smoothing and collision iterations can be tricky.

A different approach is to add a push modifier with a low value. And it can be fine tuned with a weigth map. That can be combined with smoothing.

With a boot like that I would just hide the offending toes

I think this is the very reason why some designers made stockings without a foot-piece. I think Lilflame has a couple of those. Basically, such stockings cut off right below the ankle, so they do disappear into anklebooties and then look like regular stockings, but they simply can't clip through the rest of the shoes because there's no foot part to do any clipping. Obviously, this solution won't work with sandals or heels with open toes

Exelent point we see this all the time outfits cut when boots start etc why do you think i started this post ? some outfits don't work like that they expect we use boots from there outfit but I for one would like to mix outfits smiley I hope this makes sence

This is why I only use a product from idler168 at rendo for my stocking needs. Stocking Settings For G3F G8F is a second skin product i appply to a user created geoshell and it works perfectly and because it's applied to a geoshell, it looks like a 3d mesh in lighting and all heels fit.

A fiddlier option would be to apply a Push Modifier to the stockings (Edit>Figure>Geometry), set the Push Modifier offset to a smallish negative value in the parameters pane, then apply a Push Modifier Weight node to that (Create menu), and, using the Node Weight Map Brush tool, paint in the negative offset where you need it to tuck the stockings below the shoes.

    thanks, glossedsfm...

that's a neat trick.   i've run into a few pieces of clothing that didn't have a smoothing option and really needed it, and had no idea what to do about it.

    :)

Thanks Richards the push idea will come in handy for small corrections.

Im amazed with daz3d for many things but it seems that the smalest things seem to be where you spend 99.9 % of your time figuring things out.

I aplyed the above trying to fit boots over jeans and end up with this (screen) smiley
