Very interested (as I said for Sanjay, South Asian is a common ethnicity in the UK, so pretty useful for British artists), but definitely waiting; Daz's seeming insistence on picking a selection of DO items for the offer that are not currently under any discount but then running artist sales or Pro Bundle discounts a week later on strongly disincentivises rush buying new characters.
Her base figure looks decent. Her facial features look a bit stretched. Like the perspective camera is on too much, and her features are too, big for her face. Outfits are kinda average. The deal is of course better than Sanjay's.
Well, my 2 cents: A very nice addition to the DAZ family.
I especially like her body proportions.
I rendered her straight out of the box, the only additions are zoro_d's bending morphs and his peach fuzz.

Yes it was noticed that any item with an extra discount wasn't included and/or any extra discounts were quickly removed. It definitely limits the real value of the deal. Most if not all of the items have been sale at 72% (Including PC+ discount) or more. So that $90 only buys about $25 worth of merchandise ifthey were at their sale prices.
And since I have already purchased the items I already wanted at their sale prices the current selection of items to choose for free is not a great incentive. That said I like the Kala 8 bundle and will probably get it anyway.
Pre-purchase thoughts:
-The long, angular female face is something that Bollywood producers seem to be into because at any given point there's like three or four starlets with faces like that. Kala is an attractive example of the type, although I feel like some of the promo images don't suit her, and it definitely looks like she doesn't take facial expressions as well as Sanjay.
-Bundle thoughts: the Dforce Bollywood Bride outfit is the only one I feel strongly about, but the Betty Fashion outfit is cute and believable as something a trendy South Asian woman might wear, and the Raeni outfit is at least a recognizable riff on a particular style of Bollywood dance wear. It plunges lower in front than I would like but I can probably find something to cover the cleavage up with. (It's common in Indian films, although not universal, to pair a top like that with a dupatta or scarf draped so that the ends hang over the back and shoulder-blades, and the body of the scarf hangs over the cleavage). The characters in the bundle aren't all that unique at a morph level, but they are attractive, and the skins are interesting attempts to come up with someone lighter skinned than Kala. Hair and poses-as with Sanjay, I feel like these are very appealing and among the stronger points of the bundle.
-Addons: this was a problem with the Sanjay bundle, because I only liked one of the addon characters, didn't particularly care for most of the texture addons, and the coolest of the addon outfits was expensive (probably worth it to judge by all the detailing, but expensive). I feel like we have a much better selection of options with Kala. What's specifically in my cart for addons is the Amara outfit (so pretty), the Bollywood Bride textures and Raeni textures (so Arien!), and the pose set by Andrey Pestrykov (very well thought out). Of the addon characters, I like Iole, Lakhi, Reva and Elina, but they cost slightly more than what I have in my cart right now, and back-converting the character skins for Sanjay's supporting characters to G3M was so tedious that I don't really want to add more work in that department this time around.
-deals: right now I have ~$271 worth of stuff in the cart, including weekly PC freebie, for ~$98, which is pretty good. In Sanjay's case, some of the Daz Originals in the Free Stuff category went on sale a day or two after Sanjay's debut, allowing buyers to maximize the value of their $XX's worth of free DOs. It looks like they are trying to prevent that from happening again, but I'm going to wait a day or two just to make sure.
I agree she looks good, but I won't be getting her immediately, because I can't think of a use for her in what I do with DAZ Studio. Maybe another time though.
I totally agree. It would be nice if the other pro bundles were lower in cost so I had a little extra left of the $90. I am missing about half a dozen of them. Finally got Lee 8 with Sanjay. I also wish the HD had been included as it was with Sanjay. That being said with Kala, four add-ons and Gia 8 the total in my cart is $13 less than with Sanjay. And I spent the same in add-ons with Kala as I did with Sanjay. Still thinking on it as it is a lot of money especially in $CAD
I'm actually rather irritated that Aakash didn't show up in today's sales. Why is DAZ double punishing Mousso fans when we already know she exists?
The one thing I forgot to mention is that you can get the boosted discounts on Kala and her addons by buying the base character+4 addons, essentially allowing you to build the equivalent of an alternate starter bundle in terms of price (albeit a starter bundle with no hair and different clothing, character and pose options, because there is no discount for buying the individual bundle components in this manner). In terms of discount per items bought, it's not as good a deal as Pro Bundle+4 addons+$XX worth of free DOs, but if you're not in a position to spend the $$ needed for the Pro Bundle deal, it's worth thinking about. I don't recall whether Sanjay had this option.
As for Kala herself - her face seems a bit off for the body they've given her... or maybe that should be that the body they've stuck on a her head seems closer to a stock DAZ 20 something bikini model type while the head actually is a pretty good generic ethnic morph of a woman in her thirties or early forties. It's nothing that can't be fixed with body morphs, but some of the promotional renders look more like photoshops than real people. And some of the other promo images, as noted above, are just bad. Either this was a real rush job or whoever did them really didn't care for the character.
Contents of pro bundle - C. The outfits are okay but, except for the Saturday Night Dress outfit, not things I can imagine using often, and the Rana HD character looks way too similar to Kala herself (though her body/head match is better.) The add-on items aren't bad, at least. This is a bundle I will probably get, but I'll most likely may wait to see what the next few days bring before committing.
That's been the deal on most of the more recent Genesis 8 Pro Bundles.
I applaud this move. I believe Sanjay's deal only applied to the pro bundle. Though you could get the free Sanjay HD with just the base Sanjay. Still, it is a shame that Sanjay got such a strict deal.
Speaking of HD, Kala's HD has several underbust lines that might be troublesome if you wish to alter her bust shape. Since public users cannot edit a HD morph, there is no way to get around this. Also, I don't see how she would have the upper lines in this location, her bust doesn't seem to be the type IMO. I know it can happen, but the problem with doing it here in 3D is that end users cannot alter this in any way thanks to Daz policy on HD morphs.
Reduction surgery? Thanks for the heads up on this, the QC at DAZ has been in the toilet lately and I can't imagine this being a quick fix.
Has anyone gotten a blue/orange/purple bar offer for Kala 8 for anything besides just extra free products? I usually get one for an extra % off but this time they just upped the freebies...
Nope, just more freebies, which TBH, I've been picking the DO's clean for months. There just isn't much more that I want that I haven't already got. ;)

Extra free products was all I got for her and Sanjay; in both cases about $10 up from the base amount. Higher total amount of free stuff for Kala because higher base amount of free stuff, offset by the lack of stacking discounts on potential free stuff. If you own Cynderblue's Hei Long outfit (I picked it up for practically nothing in another sale), the texture set for it is one of the only discounted items in the potential free stuff category, and looks like it has some nice variants for the outer robe, which is IMO the most useful and kitbash-friendly part of the outfit: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-heilong-outfit-textures
The other "cheap" items tend to be RDNA imports for Generation 4 or non-Daz toon figures.
Ok, so now I am at the tail end of being burnt from the last sale. They had $70 credit of free stuff to pick from and the Starter setd were running approximately $62, which I had adopted Sanjay early, the next week the Pro sets went for $37, and eventually got down to $29. So now I am gun shy at trying to get the best deal for my money, especially since I injured my back and have been out of work since October. This release has some great characters but we didn't get any of the great action sets like Sanjay had.
Applause for Daz.
Yeah, and almost all of it was 1/3rd the price yesterday. But on the bright side, at least it's a large selection to work through this time, as opposed to those cases where the selection is so small that regular buyers find it hard to find anything at all.

Well, in my case anyway, I got a $90 dollar banner and I have very nearly ALL the DO G8 characters (the majority were pro bundles). ;) I think I could count on one hand the ones I haven't got yet.

Ditto here. Got the $90 dollar banner and own all of the G8 Pro Bundles except Ollie (which I bought in pieces) and the babies, which I don't believe are actually considered PBs. That's 40 G8 Pro Bundles...
Well I've only bought 4 Genesis 8 Pro Bundles (Lucas, Edie, Toon Dwayne 8, The Girl 8) and got offered at first $30 then $40 free DOs if I bought the Sanjay 8 Pro Bundle and for this Kala 8 Pro Bundle i'm being offered $50 off DO products if you are trying to figure out the minimum DO Genesis 8 Pro Bundles you need to buy to get the $90 discount of DOs.
I liked the get "earlier generation Pro bundle(s)" offers better although $50 is excellent if say Mabel 8 Pro Bundle or Floyd 8 Pro Bundle or something like that were on sale concurrently.
I owned three G8 Pro Bundles at the time of Sanjay's release (Ollie, Alexandra, Sydney, had picked up the base characters for Victoria, Edward, Bridget, and possibly Michael as well), and at the time of Kala's release owned four G8 Pro Bundles counting Sanjay. Got the same deal in both cases: a $10 bump from the base amount of free stuff ($30 to $40 for Sanjay and $40 to $50 for Kala).
