Pix Tilwig - no wings?

radiaradia Posts: 128

I got Pix Tilwig for Edie 8 recently as part of Edie's bundle and was just trying her out. In the promo pictures there are lots with wings, and in the included poses there are some flying poses which wouldn't be much use without wings, and which also show wings in their thumbnails.

The 'Additional Products used in Promo Images' lists some outfits, hair etc. but nothing with wings, so I assumed the wings came as part of Tilwig, but I can't see them anywhere.

Am I missing something or is she wingless?

Ah - thanks. Good to have those options.

It's a pity that (presumably because they're not in the Daz store) the product outline doesn't highlight that they're a separate product and not included. As it stands, their prominence in the promo photos - and the inclusion of flying poses - make it easy to assume that wings are part of the product.

i agree is misleading.  in these cases, they should prominently display    "Not included"

    "batteries not included"

Normally they would be listed under What's Included and Features if they were included.

I see that, but the other characteristics of the product outline make it easy not to notice or appreciate the implications of that.

My initial instinct was to think of wings as a fundamental part of a pixie's anatomy (can't believe I'm getting technical about the shape of a pixie! smiley), so not seeing them in the list of what's included/features didn't raise any flags on first read through. A bit like not seeing hands mentioned in the features, but still assuming they're part of the product, especially since wings featured so prominently in the promo, complete with airborne poses ('Tilwig poses') that don't make sense without wings.

So it was only when I started using the product and found no wings that the significance of their absence from the promo text became clear. Even then, I was unsure (hence this thread to ask was I simply overlooking them) because the thumbnails for the flying poses within the product also show the wings in full colour. Normally if a pose shows a prop (like a chair) to give context to the pose, the prop is just a neutral grey, making it clear that it's not part of the character.

Not a huge deal, but could have been clearer and a note in the outline might help others in future.

    You're welcome!

In the meantime, I've picked up some free - and very pretty -  G2 Fluttery Wings courtesy of the FREE-DAZ-MAY offer (thank you Daz!) so if I can get those to work on her it's all good.

A character is a set with morphs and materials for a base human figure. That base figure has hands, so unless the character includes something like a special morph for the hands you won’t see them mentioned as they're not specific to the character. Wings, hair, clothes or accessories are not part of the base figure, so if they were included in the product they would be listed in "what's included" as they would be specific to that product.

Additional items used in promo pics are not always listed, for various reasons: sometimes they're not available here (because they're from another store, older products not available anymore, future products not yet released, or e en custom items not for sale...), sometimes there are so many promo pics and products used that the artist can't list them all, sometimes the vendor is not the one who created the promo pics and has no idea what products were used in them, sometimes they used bits and pieces from a dozen outfits to achieve that look...

If you're looking for promo items in particular then posting in the forums is a good option as there will usually be someone who can recognise them if they're part of a commercial product.

Yes, and us old timers know this. It would still be helpful, as it is often done on another site, to specify that some items are not included.

Thanks for the explanations. I'll know to check more thoroughly in future. And Taoz did kindly provide a link to the wings used on Renderosity above. Just providing the novice's perspective.

Anyway, Tilwig is happy enough with her new G2 Fluttery Wingssmiley
