I bought this car.

with its materials

I cannot apply the materials of the bodywork except those in the upholstery of the seats. If I try to apply them the car turns white and the initial red base is opaque. Even the chrome looks like plastic. Can anyone explain why? thank you

Here's what I mean. If I apply any material it becomes so

If they are procedural 3Delight shaders they will only show when rendered with the 3Delight engine not in the viewport or with iray

its old predating DS4 so certainly 3Delight and Poser matts

They aren't procedural - at least not all of them. Not sure how you made it all gray as I have this car and it shows with the red texture map (tho it looks pretty crappy in Iray, granted). You can use the chrome (nickel) in the iray uber shader for the bumpers and other chrome bits, and if you have RSSY's 3DL to Iray converter, this should help quite a bit. If not, you'll have to tweak each material by hand.

The image was after only 5 minutes of material tweaking.

Thanks for the reply. As you can see in 3Delight, rendering is like this

Hmm...how did you install it? I'd uninstall and reinstall before I tried anything else.

Thank you. I saw that I was able to manually modify the body and the chromatic objects. I think I will buy the product you recommended. occhiolino

But the problem of the flames on the textures I purchased remains. They do not apply

Those are customshaders so will not show textures in the viewport. I just rendered it and it works fine for me. Did you add a skydome? If you just render the car with a transparent background there will be no reflections, so it will look weird. Did you use the camera headlight? This is what it would look like if you have turned it off? Or if you have a light loaded but turned off light visibility.

With a skydome and a distant light:

With visibility off for the dome and light:

    ...a little more serious attempt:

Yes, the idea was to do it with the transparent background because I have one of my own to put on. So if I don't add the sky it doesn't work?

My idea is this. I did a test by replacing the materials manually. I wanted to add a background of mine purchased on dephositphoto

That looks fantastic, Sven!  Is that standard 3Delight, or the Awe shaders in action?

Well that's in 3DL, it will work but will look kind of dull as there is nothing to reflect. However, you can add a dome and make it invisible while still producing raytraced reflections, you need to apply the OmUberSurface and turn on Fantom.

It sems you got it worked out then;) Happy rendering!

    Tks, aweSurface;)

  • I have the same issue and cant follow your suggestions. How do you make it look good then, what would be the  procedure?

So what did you try, and what rendering engine are you using?

Works even in Bryce Imortal Elegance and 1936 AM Sedan. Backdrop is a Garage Open HDRI from the Practical Bryce 7.1 Pro - Volume 1.
