    Thanks for the inspiration! Wow... the days of the Oscilloscope! I remember getting my hands on one when I was in college. A Bell and Howell. Damn that was a  L O N G  time ago!!!

    Speaking of Oscilloscopes, they were used so much in ancient Sci Fi that one often thought that the sound of the Theremin actually came from the oscilloscope, since they were often used at the same time in those old flicks

    ha yes we had cathod ray oscilliscoppes at UNI, we also had one computer avilbale to about four hundred students - it was in a big brick shed - you had to line up outside with your stack of computer cards that held your code.

    When you finally got to run your code the computer would spit out the card where you screwed up - you would then get to line up for 20 mins again with our new adjusted code -

    Oh Man... to which I'm certain I am allergic! LOL

    I began my days of digital art writing code in basic to plot my colors. I could do that thanks to our new 8 color monitor! Yeah... 5.5" Floppy Disc that really flopped! By the time I got my first actual PC (I was really late in that endeavor - 1997) I had to upgrade my hard drive to 1 GB to install the software for my new HP Printer! Windows 95! Yeah!!!!

    I still have my Apple ][ from around 1979. It had an ALF music synthesizer expansion card installed that could play 9 voice user programed music and store it on a 5.25 " floppy. Also had a MIDI interface card connected to a Yamaha DX7.

    Fun times!

    pleasure - I think anything goos is deeper than we think - needs more exploring for sure - you coul ddrop a fresnesll in there on the edges for example

    great alien skin - that poor mini will be having a an existential crisis - who am I what colour am I really :)

    Try something simple that your computer can handle - don't forget a shader tip/trick ! ( You still have nearly a couple of weeks)

    Fortran - eeek, was the first computer language I learnt at Uni, don't remember how to use it though !

    Anything Grooves is quite easy to use but can give some great results.
    This little series covers the different results obtained by various shaders.

    1. Insert a Plane into your scene
    2. Apply chosen shader to plane
    3. Click on Insert
    4. Click on Anything Grooves
    5. Choose an object, I use Plane
    6. I left the High value at 0.01m
    7. I adjusted the U Samples & V Samples to 512
    8. Quad Split - choose an options
    9. Enter X-Y-Z values
    10. Click on the double arrow head option, click on chosen shader that you applied in Step 2
    11. Click on the Assemble Room Icon
    12. Make sure you have Anything Grooves Selected
    13. In your Motion tab, adjust Size "Z" value
    14. Staying with Anything Grooves
    15. In your Motion tab, adjust Size "Z" value
    16. Apply your chosen shader to your Anything Grooves

    1. I inserted one of my Bryce terrains that had been saved with a Terrain shader
    2. Insert a plane, to act as a water plane for the Terrain
    3. Adjust Overall Scale
    4. Adjust position so covering the same area as the Terrain
    5. Staying clicked on Plane in your Instances Tab
    6. Rename as Water Plane
    7. In your Shader collection, find a Water Shader and apply it to the Water Plane
    8. Double click on your Terrain Shader to open it
    9. Click on Global Shader - Color
    10. Scroll down to Texture Map
    11. Locate your PBR map - I am using a Granite Rock Face map

    12. Do a test render to see that it's okay
    13. In your Distribution Grass - Shader Color
    14. Scroll down to Texture Map
    15. Locate your PBR map - I am using a Mixed Moss map
    16. Do a test render - ooops scale is out
    17. Adjust shader values
    18. Do a test render - that looks better

    19. Staying in the Assemble Room
    20. Click on Water Plane
    21. Double click on your Water shader to open
    22. In the Color slot
    23. Scroll down to Terrain Tools
    24. Click on Surf
    25. Adjust size, I made it 0.5m
    26. Select All but the listed
    27. Enter name of your Water Plane from your Instances tab
    28. Click on Inv Radial
    29. In the Noise slot
    30. Scroll down to Natural Functions
    31. Click on Cellular
    32. Adjust scale, I made it 8
    33. Do a test render to make sure you have a Surf line running along your shore
    34. Click on Terrain in your Instances tab
    35. Double click on your Terrain shader in your Shaders tab to open it

    36. Add a Terrain Layer by clicking on the "+" icon
    37. In the extra Terrain Layer name box enter Beach
    38. In the Shader slot, scroll down and click on Color
    39. Click in the Color box
    40. In the Color Picker choose a sand color
    41. In the Distribution slot
    42. Scroll down to Terrain Tools Normal Shader
    43. In the Shader slot
    44. Scroll down to Operators
    45. Pick Multiply
    46. In Source 1 slot
    47. Scroll down to Terrain Tools
    48. Click on Beach
    49. Adjust size, I made it 0.5m
    50. Enter name of your Water Plane from your Instances tab
    51. Click on Linear
    52. In Noise slot
    53. Scroll down to Natural Functions
    54. Click on Cellular
    55. Tick Fractal box & adjust Scale
    56. In Source 2 slot
    57. Scroll down to Environment Functions
    58. Click on Slope
    59. Adjust Slope, I made it 66%
    60. Adjust Blend & Wiggle
    61. Do a test render to make sure you have a beach running along your shoreline except for cliff patches
    62. Might need a little post work

    wow great to see those two in action - anything grooves and terrain tools - I had a play at the latter initially and had no joy, thanks for the tuts again :)

    Hi there!, i have not much time lately, but i really wanted to join this challenge, so i make this... 

    There's not much i can contribute about knowledge in this forum, almost every trick i have learned for carrara, comes from here, or the user manual hahahaa

    Anyway, i will explain my scene, sorry if it is too basic:

    The hologram figures i make them using a simple cube modified in the modeling room, Then i use extrusion for al the facets, and created a new material group for the extruded squares.  Then i make that squares invisible, and give the rest of the figure an emisive material (in octane render). I think in carrara native renderer you can make the same with glow effect. 

    For the outfit, i used a very amazing outfit by AerySoul called iVe  (NLA), that already have very nice glowing maps that can ve converted to emisive in octane render.
