Add multiple dents on a figure?

How does one add multiple dents on a figure?

So far I can only add one dent on my figure by adding smoothing modifier from Edit>Figure>Geometry>Add Smoothing Modifier.

As you can see in the picture attached below, the smaller cone can dent the figure but the bigger one is not denting at all. How can I dent the figure with both cones at the same time?

Also, I came up with this post https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/4523521/#Comment_4523521 but the instructions are not that clear and I can't get it to work. I am kinda rookie, please help.

Thanks : )

You could export as obj with just the 2 cones visible, and the re-import them as a single obj, You can then collide against this. Obviously you could also do this with multiple cones.

    1. Zero all morphs and poses on your character (you might need to hide the eye lashes depending on the character)
    2. Create the dent you want to make from one of the cones.
    3. Export your figure as a .obj file (at base resolution)
    4. Import new .obj file as a morph target (edit - figure - morph loader pro) and name it whatever you want.
    5. Apply morph to see effect.

    6. Repeat steps 1-5 as needed for more dents.

Did you add the Smoothing Modifier to the figure or the cones?

I added the smooth modifier to the figure, cuz when I added it to the cone, it did the opposite of what I want.

Try making instances, not duplicates, of the small cone and see if they cause dents.

Thanks, I will try. But is there any way if anyone can explain this post by RGcincy properly? https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/4523521/#Comment_4523521 cuz it looks like a better method. But it's just that I can't even figure step 1. How does one apply a dynamic modifier and a dForce weight node to it? Which option do I have to choose to apply dynamic modifier? pls see the attach file below.

    Thanks a lot.

I just tried that, it's a good way but I can't move cones one by one, it just moves all the cones, this is kinda slow way. Can you help with the stuff I mentioned just above, It would be a big help to me. That post looks quite good if one knows how to do stuff in DS, I am just a rookie. I can't find anything like that anywhere else.

    Thanks :)

But don't we have to select the cone in the mesh smoothing tab in the Parameters tab? I can only select one prop in the poped up window after clicking on "Collision Item". Pls see the attached image.

    Sorry for my bad English.

I was thinking that an Instance has the attributes of the original and I wondered if they might also pick up the Smoothing Modifier too.

How about putting all the cones in a group, then making the group the collision item for the figure?

I tried that, creating a group doesn't work either, not even for a single cone dents.

  • I would suggest the easiest way to make controllable dents is with the Dform tool and a weight map, which will give you control over the placement, depth and size of the dents.

Yeah, I had already found a post https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/4523521/#Comment_4523521 but I can't figure out stuff, I'll keep trying it until it works!!

    Thanks a lot.

For the dynamic modifier you look under windows->simulation settings. Then right click on the top part that says simulation settings with the figure selected and choose dforce->dynamic surface.

for the weight node you look under Create->New dforce weight node.

the rest is under tools. i did find this post helpful as explantion:

Yeah, I figured it out, took me like 2 hours but worth it.

But hey, thanks a lot, this post will help others :)
