Did a test render, and as usual I'm not really happy with the included materials (but I expected that) - but with some work I got him to a look that I like much much more.
Pretty solid character.
Also, great to see Daz add an older male character that's not white.
Hm... not really getting the vibes from him, he could be any old man from europe /north america but nothing specifically asian. He looks like my grandpa playing chinese man with a glue on beard, but then I had the feeling already with Lee8 so, I probably opt out of this despite me wnating a partner for Mrs Chow
I don’t have a lot of use for martial arts or fantasy warrior garb so I may just pick the contemporary outfits. The deal is not very enticing.
Unfortunately one of the contemporary outfits (On Vacation) has a pretty glaring error. Look at the shirt buttons.

he's a great figure - i'm usually not into rendering guys past their.. i guess 30's, and even less mature figures, but they need an elder/sensei/boss, and he's the ideal G8 complement to G3 wise sensei... but i'll have to wait until the end of the month to get him *sigh*. anyways, wishlist with defcon prority!
also many items in the pro bundle are amazing - tho no use for me (yet) cuz dForce doesn't work on my machine. i've been waiting years for cool Asian themed wardrobe items more in the hanfu/robe-ish style than ninja leggins with leg straps, and now a flurry of them have come out recently.. but all with dForce (understandably, i'm not complaining about the better realism, just cursing at my old laptop and my chronical lack of $$). speaking of outfits, i havent seen any Korean traditional clothing items yet like different hanboks and this Joseon hat(s) type(s) you see in pretty much every period drama...
wait, does it mean than without the HD addon, he looks so.. ehh.. unwrinkled? wrinkles are quite a must for the realism of such a figure... and first i'd have to buy the HD on top, and with my old system i tend to even switch down the high division of normal figures (without HD addon) already (with scene optimizer ususally) to sub 1 otherwise rendering goes too slow or crashes my scene...

hmmm ... great discounts varies by person ... it was said by someone that this is the lowest bundle they've had for awile ... but I got Chow for like $29 ... this is at 45 for me .. even with the 10% off. suppose if i buy the GC fisrt ..then it would knock another 10% off. even with the 4 related, it only brings it down to 31. BUT ..there are 13 items instead of usual 11.
Only negative I see is that the HD add is not the 70% off deal like the last couple of bundle releases were. My Woo does not need a Hair Salon, but maybe he could be the stylist, I suppose. With that huge katana
nvermind ,,, i put a bunch of stuff in my cart and its now $26 ... really, its only $2 an item in the bundle.... yeah, awesome..plus I haven't looked at the FREE $60 worth of DO items yet...
There will be normal maps in the base, which will give much the same effect for non-close-ups.
with 4 addons Mr Woo Pro comes down to $26.78 :) just gotta decide which 4 items I want probably sleep on but the HD for sure, maybe the trench coat those promos make me think Constantine or Castiel. As for Mr Woo well Mortal Kombat, Big Trouble In Little China, Master Roshi - Dragonball,
My first thought when I saw Mr Woo bundle was that you could probably create a great Master Roshi from it ;)
ah thank you a lot Richard for this info - i hadn't realized normal maps could be so efficient! i thought NM were only a good addition/feature especially for close-ups. i should really revise the bases (of DS use) somehow. ^^

Hopefully there's a typo/bad wording on the bundle offer, though:
Some of the bundles offered are more than $60. If that wording is correct, some of the bundles won't work by definition.
:) AND that add on texture for the Showdown outfit would look good for Goku and some of the others and lately been a lot of other stuff released work well for Dragonball renders. Digi-Mig and DarkSeal did do Goku, Vageta and add ons but they are older poser stuff but with some playing could recreate G8 versions to go with Mr Woo and Mrs Chow makes a wicked creepy lady did her as a Gorgon
Don't worry, this is the same as the Mrs Chow offer (or was it Bridget maybe) - if you put in more than $60 then you are only charged the difference.
ETA: At least that's what my cart is showing - I recommend that you look really closely at the cart total to be certain before hitting the buy button!
I would very much like to support Mr Woo, but I start to think that the people with the "where's the male content" argument have a point when a lot of the major releases seem to get much more awkward or underwhelming offers.
While the discounts on Mr Woo's core bundle are slightly higher if you fill up on clothing textures or the like, Mr Woo's freebies are much more awkward and less generous than Mrs Chow's release; it's all bundles with awkwardly large prices and no extra discounts, making it really quite hard to shoehorn a combination you're happy with into your cart, and if you do go over, you're paying full price for anything not covered by the limit. (Whereas with Mrs Chow, it was cheaper items that were mostly at generous discounts anyway, making building a cart much easier).
This kind of offer often leaves me wondering if I want the Pro Bundle at all, and then I'll just get the core character, which then means I've not got the same breadth of clothing and hair for my males, which discourages me from using them as much in renders, and then I have less reason to buy more male characters in future. I've got the Pro Bundles for about two thirds of the Daz G8F characters, but very few for the G8Ms (and one of those was only because the early G8 Pro Bundles came up as part of an offer on Eva 8's release and I already had all the G8F ones that were offered).
The wording is weird indeed. What they mean is that if you have more than 60$ of qualifying products they'll reduce the total by 60$ and you pay the difference, so those products won't appear as "free" in the cart, just cheaper.
I agree, that it is hard to find bundled daz originals worth the cost or under 60. I tend to own the male counterparts of most bundles so, paying again for what I've bought a while ago is limiting. I would like more alacarte daz originals.. Heck why not any daz original? I don't get the limitations put on this. It punishes people with more content.
It is really hard for me to find a good option in the bundled daz originals. I am definitely leaning towards getting the pro bundle. Mostly because most of the offerings are really good but there is part of me that keeps wanting to support the creation of male content with my wallet.
Pretty much everything I said about Mrs Chow still applies: good character, cool bundle (I particularly like the Goldtassel hair, and Jedi Wise Master robes), generous deal that I can't take advantage of right now. Good job and good luck, Daz! Hope he does well for you.
the $60 is a side show ... its gravy. the Woo bundlke is real cheap plus you can buy a GC at 10% off to save another 10% ... without that GC, I added my PC+ coupon and it brought WOO Pro Bundle down to $23 ... can't really beat that. Well, you can, but 23 is a real low price.
It doesn't say they won't work, it says they won't be free. Which is true. They aren't free, they just get the $60 deducted, and you have to pay the remaining amount.
Yes. I think the issue was that people complained they weren't getting their free items because the residue is spread over all of the items, rather than some being free and the last taking all of the excess, so the phrasing is intended to head that off.

I think you mean Fu Manchu, not Charlie Chan. Charlie Chan was always portrayed wearing a business suit and a bowler or panama hat, and had a short moustache with a tiny "soul patch" beard.
