Well, humph.  I installed the latest driver (418.81) for my Nvidia RTX 2080, and now DS 4.11 beta falls back to CPU rendering. It works to render a scene with just a single cube, but any other prop or figure causes errors like

1.4 IRAY rend error: CUDA device 0 (GeForce RTX 2080): an illegal instruction was encountered (while launcing CUDA renderer in core_renderer_wf.cpp:437)

I hope an update beta will be along soon, since I have no idea how to back out of the driver update.

You should be able to download and install the previous driver, and not update it

This is affecting not just the beta for me but the official release with my GTX 1080 and my RTX 2080. It is CPU only rendering with the 418.81 driver. I will have to go back to the 417.71 driver.

Sure, I could select all the devices to render with, CPU, GTX 1080, and the RTX 2080, but when it came time to render it droppred to CPU only and I didn't even have CPU selected. I only select GPUs to render with. I downgraded to 417.71 and all is working fine again.

Same issue here with the 418.81 and RTX280Ti and GTX1080Ti :(

Downloading 417.71 as I'm writing this...

  • Could the folks who have issues with the latest NVIDIA driver in Iray please give more details about the issue, e.g. scene contents, when does the error message appear, etc? If a scene is larger than your GPU RAM, then it will fall back to the CPU.

    My build is:

AMD 2700X, 32 GBs of RAM, GTX 1080, RTX 2080, 8 GBs of VRAM in each video card.

The scene includes 1 Genesis 3 Female character, hair, t-shirt, short pants, and sandals, and an HDRI for lighting. It takes up 3.5 GBs of memory.

No issues rendering with driver 417.71.

No GPU renderng with driver 418.81, fall back is CPU rendering.

  • For now I'd suggest reverting to 417.71 and wait for the next release after 418.81. Sometimes NVIDIA releases a fix pretty quick if needed.

  • DAZ relies on NVIDIA for updates. Once they have received it, the update needs to be tested internally before rolling it out in a Public Beta release. No doubt these posts have been seen and being investigated.

    @DoctorJellybean

Reason why new drivers 418.81 are falling back to CPU is that they are enabling support for RTX, and for acceleration using RT and Tensor cores in OptiX SDK 6.0 which was released today.

Those driver changes seem not to be compatible with DAZ Studio outdated Iray and OptiX version.

At this point we can only hope DAZ will post a new beta soon.

Fyi updates/changes to SDKs have nothing directly to do with end-user driver updates. The problems people are having are almost certainly the result of a bug. Nothing more.

Anyone else has issues with 3DL scripted renderer in DS 11 beta?

    Like what?

It simply won't render, as it only throws up the render window (My setting is render to separate window) with no rendering dialogue, it works fine with DS 10 though, thanks for the response!

  • Is there a release schedule anywhere for 4.11?

I'd love to know this as well as it's been over a year so far! Though I hope that they fix the 3DL scripted renderer first...

To the best of my knowledge DAZ has never published either a release schedule or a list of upcoming features for Studio from the time they turned loose the first version.

Fyi Daz low-key routinely publishes insider only updates on Daz Studio's development process as part of its official changelog - just scroll down to the section entitled Private Build Channel. As of this post, the most recent entry there is already up to version 4.11.0.290 (54 incremental updates past the current publicly available Beta version.) So if you're looking for hints on when to expect new things, you could do worse than keep an eye on that page...

OptiX SDK release notes specifically say that 418.81 driver is REQUIRED to enable new RTX functionality in OptiX 6.0

Which would have no bearing on whether or not non-RTX enabled tasks previously known to function (like rendering in Iray using Turing GPUs without RTCores active) would continue to do so. Unless the driver's new code inadvertently introduced a bug affecting pre-existing functionality. Which by far seems the most likely explanation in this case.

ok one problem with the beta that i noticed so far with the RTX 2080

Antialiasing seems to be turned off

lots of jaggies in the pictures.

how do i turn AA back on?

have tried changing the forced AA in the nivida controlpanel but it has no effect

I wait for full RTX support on DAZ before buying one ! Hope that the price will drop a little before the release !

  • Has anyone benchmarked something like a single RTX 2060 vs dual GTX 1060 with the same hardware?

  • Ladies and Gentlemen,

Please let me know what can I do to have the latest beta - I assume it is called "private beta" - available to download.

This will only make me very happy.

I am not sure it is a solid reason to you but, for me, it is everything I wish.

    Best regards,

    marius.

well if they fix the only problem right now the lack of Antialiasing there is no need ot wait.

its pretty much perfect already and the quality you get in the renders with the 2080 is amazing.

not to meantion the speed in both render times and when working in Daz

i huge step up from my 1050

    Edit: one question

is this a fan made forum?

where the hell is the staff that can answer questions?

The question remains: HOW DO I TURN ANTIALIASING BACK ON ?

or is it a driver issue?

im using the nvidia beta drivers from Nov last year because thats the only ones that works and uses the RTX 2080 for rendering.

    the jaggies destroys the pictures.

come up with an soluton to fix this problem!

    Hello,

Since yesterday the denoiser don't work on my Beta 4.11, before I've never had any problems.  Do somebody knows a reason why ?

I didn't change anything , so I reinstalled the Beta but always the same problem.

Thanks if someone has an idea

( Sorry for my English, it's not my mother tongue....)
