I don't think DAZ's 'glamourous model types' are particularly glamorous really and those 3D models don't particularly remind me of the 'look' of the real folk that we are told are glamorous model types by the glamorous model types industry.
Anyway, I think Tasha 8 is a refined improvement over the 1st 4 to 6 ealiest Genesis 8 models, not that I'm buying anymore Genesis 8 Pro Bundles this cycle but their has been an improvement in the quality.
double post...
It worked perfectly fine for me. I added 5 items from that sale in my cart and they all rang out at $0.00. The trick might be that you have to have more than two new release items that have a price of more than $10.00 after discounting, rather than the $5.00 advertised, as that seemed to be the problem with getting generic new releses to work the other day.
Here's a render of Lilitu, with Tasha's fangs dialled in.
Here's one of Constance "out of the box" (but with her lashes length decreased). I think the blood drip prop is very cool! :)
I'm usually not a fan of darker characters, but I'm really liking Tasha's crew! :)
I realize that I'm not exactly the average user and often like to see what the user base at large thinks of a new drop.
Upon my intitial viewing of the Tasha 8 launch, I was chuffed. Vampires are right up my alley and whole body vampire skins such as
Lilitu for Tasha 8, especially so. What a great looking release I thought. So I load up the cart, got my 4 add-ons and apparently missed some of the freebie categories. I was all set to check out then I stopped by here and read the buyer reactions. To say that I was deflated by the reaction is a bit of an understatement. It really bummed me out and eventually made me second guess my initial reaction to the character and pro bundle offering. I emptied my cart and logged off having one of those, "Dang, I spend too much on this stuff," kinda moments.
So....I slept on it. Today I came back for another look. I do really like the look of this character and pro bundle offerings even though she may not be everyone's cup of tea. I loaded up my cart all over, this time stopping to note ALL of the freebie categories. So, in short the hateraid really saved me a bit of $ by ensuring that I took advantage of all the freebies.
With a %20 loyatly dscount the subtotal is $363.40. The discount is $313.67. The total out of pocket is $49.73.
My mission to own everything Daz ever released that I was even mildy interested in continues. Ha! I do take the point that as time drags on, we accumulate all the older items we ever wanted so the freebies on offer tend to appeal less and less. I was able to snag a few things I didn't own yet. A sweet Sixus 1 bundle, the old Pentonville Prision, The awesome looking Hagred HD to name a few things that appealed go into the library.
Someday. Someday!
wow .. how did you get to $50 for all that? I am always 60+ and cannot go that high for sure. If anytihng is $0, the PC+ coupons do not work. I eneded up putting enough in from the $OFF categories to just add less than $1 to the total to allow the coupon use, but it was still above $60. Some folks also saying they got the V4/M4 free items from a couple days ago to work...I can;t do thaqt either.
So the %20 loyalty discount for buying other Pro bundles previously I gather, applied to the purchase price of the bundle as well as the 4 Add-Ons. I didn't see any M4/V4 previously so I might have missed the boat on those.
Do you get a higher %age off DO's as a PA? The lowest I can get down to (Tasha 8 Pro Bundle with 20% loyalty discount plus four add-ons at $7.33 each on the sale page) is $57.55.
The M4/V4 offer is this one from the weekend. https://www.daz3d.com/02-03-free-m4-v4-content It's a bit funky and not every New Release qualifies for it, but it's still active for up to five free items per purchase.
that's where I'm at as well, and if you add any of the 10-90 off items, to use the PC+ coupon, you need to allow overage..so the totaly is in the $60s. The fact the PC+ coupons do not work if there is a free itemin the cart stops me from a lot of sales. I cannot afford to buy stuff to get free items and then have to buy more to use the coupons. In this case, the PC+ PA coupon took off $2 ...
I think I left a few cents on the vine. I had no overages for the freebies the second time around. I took out the trusty calculator and made sure to leave a few cents to spare in each category.
I'm glad you gave her a second chance. I'm quite impressed with her and haven't been this impressed with a character since Zelara (who's my personal favorite). I think the feedback one sees isn't necessarily indicative of what people on average think. But I think only Daz will really know based on the sales.
Personally, what I like and don't like about something or someone is rarely affected by what other people think of said thing or person. lol I care a lot about what other people think of my art and what I create (I want people to be happy with my products and I care very much what others think when it comes to what I make), but when it comes to what I personally like and don't like, other people's views on it usually don't influence what I like and don't like very much. As soon as I saw Tasha and her bundle and add-on characters I was all in! lol
...Then after I rendered her, I was even more excited about her as a character. :D
Actually no; no matter the fantasy genre (or scifi), the universe in question has to be believable and both hold together and be consistent. The dress-code is certainly pretty-much consistent, but is not believable. The best stories don't break one's immersion by giving WTF moments.
I like Tasha 8 because she looks quite different from the typical Daz female (which are great, but I don't need the same kinds of facial types) a group including Penny, Stephanie, Olympia, & Victoria 8---Gia is on the cusp. I hope Daz will give us at least two more women in this generation that break the mold like Tasha does, but most people want the same thing, then more of the same thing, then some more. There seem to be two main camps: Those who ask, "Why is it different?!" and those who ask, "Why is it the same?!" I'm the latter.
I put Tasha 8's morph under Gia 7's skin and got a Hispanic or light-skinned Black woman. So, those who are pegging her as just another skinny white girl should give her another look.
OT, I was wondering why someone doesn't make a breasts morph with a natural bridge between them for shirts that need it, as well as a uni-buttocks morph with an indentation instead of a cleft. Zev0's and SickleYield's fixes don't always work the way I'd like.
Thanks again for your service, Divamakeup. I always look forward to your renders to see the characters out-of-the-box and with Altern8 (which has so many options that it triggers OCD for me, and 3 hours later I know which one to use---and don't let me start futzing with the Girl 8 version or I'll never get renders done.
Awww Thank you!
And yeah, I have to agree, to me she's definitely doesn't look like "just another white girl".
I really like her, her nose especially gives her a lot of character that some of the other models don't have. I loaded up my cart in the morning and totally missed the freebies also, were they there? I looked for them.... Anyway I checked out. I went to look at something in the sale later in the day and then saw that there were free items also, so I sent a ticket in. More then 24 hours later and still no response from Daz.....
P3d morphs are gorgeous
Some people call Tasha top heavy, for her relatively large chest (even if it's not really big compared to several other figures) and her large head (supposedly, since I didn't notice anything weird about it) when compared to her butt. Well, not all butts are oversized. And of the butts that aren't oversized, not all have ideal aesthetic proportions either.
So, overall, I don't think she's a bad looking figure, and even then, there's nothing that a few morphs or mixing with other figures can't fix. And the Viollet HD character already sorts out the top-heavy/light-bottom bit, though I believe a realistic female with a "small" butt was actually missing from the G8F lineup. It's just unexpected that this lack was filled through a vampire character, which one would actually expect to be a bit more.. vampy, with hourglass figure and all. Without the Vampire skin, Tasha actually looks very normal. So extremely normal that you'd pass her on the street without taking notice.
I'm still hoping for a Lilith 8 though. And would hope that a Lilith 8 would be the femme fatale that we haven't seen yet.
Tasha 8 out of the box with the Immortal outfit.
The short version is "because that's not really possible, and those fixes are basically the best practical compromise".
The longer version is that morphs are an additive (or subtractive) process, so the end result varies dependent on the original shape. Given that there's a near infinite variety of possible body shapes you could start with once you consider all the characters and morphs out there, no single morph can account for every possible shape - the best compromise is a toolset of multiple morphs to try to allow the user to do their best to correct for a wide range of bodyshapes... which should sound somewhat familiar.
Beyond that, in some cases, you may have some luck dialling out any figure morphs that are really screwing things up via the clothes' parameters (basically turning off/down the autofollow on that morph), although you may also need to dial in things like Fit Control morphs and adjust the smoothing/collision iterations in order to try to get it to fit again afterwards.
I think Tasha is one of the best official G8 figures I've seen. I look forward to rendering her in future.
The deal is bad though. I was close to buying Tasha when I saw the select $off items were actually addons for other products I dion't have - dumped it immediately on that sour note.
After a couple of days of pondering, I removed the pro version, add-ons and offers from the cart and just bought Tasha and Viollet. The last few bundles and offers just haven't been worth it for me. This looks like a figure that I'll enjoy working with, but once again let down a little by marketing that is nowhere as good as it was previously.
Tasha: Good Night
"Yes, Father, I made sure all the Initiates are in their beds..."
Tasha 8 with Lilitu's blood effects. Thought about using Axe-crazy's blood effects, but, well... I don't remember why I went with this. I had a power outage at 93% complete on the render and had to rebuild it from scratch because I didn't hit the Save button. <silent rage>
Wheeee! A horror themed core character! Downshot is that, this late in the Generation 8 sequence, there's less likelihood we'll see a Lilith 8. Maybe a male companion to Tasha, though... First off, I'm just not seeing the Head-Too-Big argument. Her head looks decently proportioned to her body. There's been a thing since V8 that I'm finally starting to nail down that I haven't been thrilled with: the core female characters seem to have strong, defined jaws, like they're the kind of girls that grind their teeth a lot. Obviously not so much on the Thorne-based ones, but the realistic characters all seem to be heavy chewers. Maybe its just my imagination, but something just seems off about the jawlines, at least on this many characters.
Otherwise, I have no complaints about the character. An Arabella replacement with a bit more meat on her bones. Hoping we get a few more outfits and accessories, like wooden stakes, crosses, and burial clothing, to go with the theme rather than just leave her as a one-and-done.
One different complaint, though, is with the sale. The price is fine, about what I expect: just shy of 60 dollars US for an 8 Pro Bundle and a few add-ons. The freebies, though... one the selection was kind of limited. only about 30 max items in each category? And several I'd have likely already purchased? And the ones I hadn't... Okay, if I'm in the market for a Generation 8 character, why would I be incentivized by M4/V4 gear? Environments or props that old, okay. I can Iray or shader those things up and get some use out of them. But a parcel of V4 clothes and characters? The only reason I threw some of the freebies on was because otherwise I'd feel like I was leaving money on the table. There are plenty of people that love the older stuff, I get that, but I'm thinking that those people are as unlikely to be interested in buying a Gen 8 character as I am in buying a V4 character. Just seems like a so-so move if you're looking to bait in a customer who's on the fence.
Anezka!!
Tasha 8 / 50% Zephir. 'quick n dirty' render.
Looks awesome Joe! :D

this is very nice...
