IDG Iray Selectable Hair Color Shader doesn't seem to work in 4.11

I know the product lists Studio 4.10 for compatable software, but that's normal. The product description specificly calls out 4.10 also, and testing shows it does not work in 4.11. So - is this product dead as soon as DAZ decides 4.11 is ready for prime time, or am I just the first to try it in the 4.11 beta?

The attached images show the issue -- no matter which hair, in 4.11 I get the basic unshaded, uncolored result.

Of course the product description call's out the current version of the release software.

Did you read the User's Guide? You can't actually believe that Destiny' Graden and Inane Glory would release a product that wouldn't work in a Beta that has been available for quite awhile.

  • I don't have the product to check specific paths, but did you check your 4.11 installation to see if there shader files themselves were installed in that location? Since it looks like you have more than one installation of Studio. What you are showing looks kind of like what I have seen if I use a shader preset, but the shader library (don't recall the terminology?) Isn't in that installation location.
  • Hmm. Just tried it in beta also. I can see the masking and tiles apply, but no colors show up, no matter what I try. Bummer, since I primarily work in beta.

Yup - tried in the beta first, then in the current release; same libraries for both. Installed with DIM to E:/s4stuff/gen5, my first mapped Studio and Poser format directory. On two systems. With the same results. (Two different installs - main system is D:/s4stuff/gen5).

And yes, I find it hard to believe also -  so I'm guessing they made an assumption on base directory in the script OR there's something hokey in the way the 4.11 beta is returning the path to the script. I just don't do defaults for directories.

  • In beta, when applying the presets, I see the colors show up in the surfaces panel, so it's "working" to some extent--the colors just aren't actually showing up in texture view/iray preview.

    Many thanks for the confirmation!

I have opened up a support ticket on this and I hope it's a fairly easy fix because it looks great in 4.10!

  • It doesn't work in 4.11 due to a bug on NVIDIA's side with the gradient brick I used. Sending you a PM namffuak.

Thanks - I'll keep the product and await a fix.

Gang, if you're running 4.10, this is easy to use and fun to play with!

  • Great to hear that there will be a fix! Thanks.

    I'm on 4.11 also. Can I also get a PM if it's a fix?

  • I didn't PM him a fix, just basically the info that I posted here. An update will go through the channels. Thanks all for your support.

  • I don't like to necro a thread but has this been fixed in 4.12?
