an aide told me fasting raises blood pressure. could that be true?
supposed to fast for the a1c test. i'm afraid to
Complaint : Checked the traps .....got a mouse ....... it was a young one .......now I have a stuffed up head and a headache from crying ......
Not sure if this thread actually has anything to do with cats, but my cat has an extensive vocabulary including some that sound English like “Wow”, “meh” and a singsong expression that sounds like someone when they say “I dunno” when they don’t actually say the words... Sometimes he will look me in the eyes and talk for several minutes, like he’s really trying to communicate something important and we are both frustrated that I don’t understand Cat...
.."cat talk" and pics are purrfectly welcome here.
One of mine can definitely ask for Meeouiilk, even though she knows she shouldn't really have it, and she only uises that particular sound when I have replaced the bottle of milk in the fridge without offering her any.
never what sort of aide was it that told you that. Misty you really need to listen to the experts, the doctor and such like and stop relying on what other people tell you or looking things up on the internet.
Fasting can actually lower the blood pressure. And remember I lived for almost 30 years with someone with a high blood pressure problem and still I only say can, not will, because although I knew what he was going throuhg I am not qualified to give absolutes.
What can push the blood pressure up is strtessing yourself out about the tests, or other things. Himself's GP used to think it quite funny when she was testing his blood pressure to ask him questions about his mother. As Mum was a very stressful person to live with sometimes if she started talking about her she could see the BP going up.
it was one of the 'safety' aides watching me who told me.
doctors, lawyers, no idea what my rights actually are, can't go by what law&order shows
and now i'm terrified of hospitals, nurses, doctors (except my retina specialist dr). , subways, underground tunnels, , and giant ferris wheels.
Check with the place where you're having your labs pulled, but for my a1c, the fast is only between midnight until morning on the day I have the bloodwork pulled (i.e. an 8 hr period). I'm also supposed to stay well hydrated and take all meds normally. This is not the same as an extended dietary fast of a longer period. Don't be afraid to ask questions of your health care team so that you always understand exactly what you should do. Your quality of care depends on it. Be well Misty.
(Looks around, panicking) Where?!
I think I need to use my real mouse for blender.
in your sock drawer ... mebbe
Where is my mouse?
in your sock drawer ... mebbe
And following on from what Tjohn said, if you are tending to be worried about attending hospitals, the doctors and the nurses, then that is increasing your stress level when you do go for tests, so for heavens sake be honest with the people doing your test and tell them that recent events have made you afraid of hospitals etc.
Nope it was in my purse.
On the subject of ferrets, for those who know: Are they a complete no-no to keep along with cats? I feel like I've heard that they don't get along too well. A part of me would like to have a naughty little ferret running about, but if I have to choose just one, it will be a cat or two (or three).
My last two cats were pretty talkative, but they didn't have more than a couple of words each. Princess on the Pea had a "mrrah?" sound, which meant that she wanted something, and a "mrrow," which was more of a social thing. Big Paws could only say MEEEEEEAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOW!?! in various degrees of despair. He was a very dramatic cat.
I like cats. Dogs not so much. I've had cats. Wonderful indoor cats. But never again. Been there done that, I'm over the furry pet thing. As recently as just two weeks ago a well meaning friend threatened to bring me a cat. I soundly and immediately quashed that idea. The last cat I had was a stray that I let sleep under my porch during one fall and winter. I put food and water out for it every morning and even tried to make a better, warmer, and more sheltered place out on the porch for it to curl up into. It even had electric heat but the cat never used it preferring to sleep under the porch. It survived the winter and was taken away when the neighors moved out of the other apartment. Meh. I now have pet rocks. Very accomodating, undemanding and well trained.
Faceplant morning.
lol. remembers of Garfield face planting lasagna.
Not allowed to do anything in my room, because I was trying to sort through my cables but still have to keep the room looking perfect.
I coil up my cables and put them individually into clear zip-lock plastic bags. When thrown into a drawer they're still easy to find and extract. I used everything from small snack bags, to sandwich bags, to large freezer bags. Very convenient.
Haven't stopped in the thread for a while. Wow, Misty, sending you positive karmic vibes and hoping you get the care you need without the stress and anything else you don't need. Same for everyone.
I have enough fears without having to be afraid of the medical profession.
Non-complaint. I will be having a toast at the corner of 7th and Indiana, NW. Today (December 5th) is the aniversary of the repeal of prohibition, and there is still a temperance fountain (monuments built by advocates of the Temperance movement) in DC, across from a sports bar. Just an appreciation of history, not a political statement, so please don't make it one. Aside on appreciation of history, my neighborhood was burned by the Brits during the War of 1812 and had a "celebration" of the bicentennal of the event. Um, we can have a "commemoration," but we shouldn't call it a "celebration" unless we are marketing to tourists in the UK and Canada.
In any case, if you partake, Cheers!
Complaint: Well just got back from taking the dog to the groomer and getting my hair cut ,tried to put the carrier down in the yard to let her out and my legs went numb and I fell over , over the carrier and on my face ,if that wasn't bad enough didn't have the strenght to get up ,had to butt walk closer to the fence to pull myself up ....... now I can't stop shaking
That's terrible! Should you call 911 rather than posting here about it? Doesn't sound like something to ignore.
Dana
To me anyway it's not an emergency ,yeah I'm shaken but no broken bones ,no bruses ,no scrapes ,did bend my glasses but fixed them, dented my pride ,squished the dog abit but she forgave me ,but yes if it happens again I'm going to the doctor. It probably means I should be useing my cane all the time ,not just when I'm away from home ......
My biggest problem used to be taking the rubbish to the wheelie bin. Have you ever tried climbing 4 fairly steep steps to the 2nd level of a garden and then trotting up the sloping path to the back gate with a black bag full of all sorts in one hand and a walking stick in the other. It can be fun living in an area with hills/mountains.
Luckily when they gave me a new wheelie bin they delivered it to the front of the house and not the back lane. It doesn't look so nice outside the front, but I am not the only person who has opted to have theirs outside the front door rather than in the back lane.
It was dreadful last year with all the snow.
Can't do steps any more have a ramp at the back door ,at the front steps I actually made uneven steps with some cap stones so I can do those as long as I have the railing to hang on to .......
