OK, this is almost a bit spooky. (The Kids 4.)

First things first: During the recent PC+ sale, I made two attempts to buy The Kids 4. Both purchases were cancelled and refunded by PayPal, because there was apparently "a risk" attached to the transaction, they claimed. Turns out, I wasn't the only one who had experienced that exact problem with The Kids. So yeah. A forum moderator suggested we should contact Customer Support, and I sent them a ticket. Then I mostly forgot about the whole thing.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, and I dig around in DS looking for Victoria 4. In the "Daz People" screen, The Kids 4 are looking back at me, smiling all innocently. surprise I even managed to load them into the viewport, they're definitely there! But how? And when? And BTW, I haven't paid for them, because the purchase was refunded. I checked my content library on my account page, and they're not listed there, but they're most definitely in my Studio. So I suppose I ought to say "thank you," to whomever put them there, but it's all very ~~mysterious.~~

I had the same issue; I coantacted support, they suggested purchasing a gift card in the amount of the cancelled order and, once done, give them the translation/gift card number, which they applied to the original invoice. It was a PayPal glitch, but like you I had the items without having paid for them. The gift card transaction evened us out. wink

  • O.T., but

I've found if you attempt to convert Kids4 skin to Iray they often come out looking like grey Zombie children.

No, according to my product library, I haven't. *scratches head* Since wsterdan had the same thing happen, I guess this must have been a surprise gift from Daz. In that case, Thank You! smiley

@TigerAnne I had the exact same issue and mentioned you in my ticket, which is still open-I was searching the forums for other users with the same issue.  After a discussion with Paypal they told me that there was something in the transaction that violated banking laws.. but they did not elaborate what exactly that was stating I would have to talk to another area.. after being on hold for 20 minutes I gave up.

I wish I'd had glowing eyes as a kid, would have made reading in the dark so much easier;)

Regarding spookiness, I've often told my daughter that the scariest thing in the world is a little girl in a fancy dress. Proof: how many scary movies feature a little girl ghost that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand on end. At first she argued but then she saw that trope in a couple of shows and she now agrees.

  • I've never bought them either but have them like forever think they were part of the freebie content included with studio, look up in your product library The Kids 4 Base, and  Millenium Kids there's a young teens one and preschoolers one or just type in kids. Some of the older stuff are bundled in several bundles too often repeated sometimes with slight variations which you gotta watch out for you don't buy something twice or more

I have the Kids 4++ Pro Bundle which is really excellent for clothing although I haven't used the Kids 4 at all, even though they are the best 5 year olds as 3D models, I don't try to copy Normal Rockwell pictures so much. Maybe for the latest DAZ Render contest I will use them. I think I got them for buying Carrera Pro on sale for like $8 or something like that. Also an excellent Genesis V5/M5 Pro Content Bundle included with Carrera Pro too.

That was just the person at Paypal either not wanting to deal with you anymore, or not knowing at all what they were talking about.  I guarantee there was nothing in a standard transaction with Daz that violates banking laws.  I had a similar issue a while ago with Paypal, along with quite a few people here.  Paypal told me there was something in the transaction that triggered the autofilters and cancelled the transaction.  In discussing it here on the forums, it appears to have been https://www.daz3d.com/yamaki-rapture-poses that did it, as that was the only common link with everyone that had the issue.  I assume it was the name Rapture (which has been tied to illegal activities, both drug and adult oriented in nature) hitting with a very high number of hits suddenly (it was release day for that pose set).  But that's just conjecture from talking with multiple affected people.  More than likely this issue is something related.  I expect that first issue I had is the reason Amazon Pay suddenly became an option not long after.

No, I think it’s the word Yamaki. Every time l had something in my cart with the word Yamaki in it, PayPal declined it.  I have no idea what that means in Japanese or if there’s some problem with an entity named Yamaki in Japan or something but I’d keep everything with that name in a separate cart and pay with store credit...

Interesting, I already had all of the other Yamakai prodcuts, so I only had the new pose set in my cart when I ran into the issue, so I never considered it being something else.  My transaction was cancelled after it had already cleared Daz, so I worked with customer service to get it resolved rather than trying multiple times.  I am not a fan of Paypal and how arbitrarly so many of their policies and decisions are, so I was very glad to see Amazon Pay show up.

  • I have several Yamaki products 13 of the 24, cars, trucks,  bikes, poses,  and textures and I use paypal

No, it doesn't. Neither The Kids themselves, their ++morphs, TK4 Complete or Pro Bundle show up as purchased. They don't even seem to show up as installed in DIM, which is why I can't understand how they ended up in the Studio. Edit: On closer inspection, yes they're listed as installed. Howevz, I don't seem to have any way of re-downloading them, when the time comes to install DS on a new computer.

I hope there isn't a popular... adult movie of the illegal kind titled "The Kids 4." Not that I'm travelling to the US any time soon, and Norwegian police hasn't contacted me, but I would hate it if even some faceless banking system thought I'd wanted to purchase a CP. sad

  • The Kids 4 ha ha. I think I got it free with one of the versions of Daz. At the time someone from DAZ in a thread claimed it was the last child figure ever planned and to never expect another one. I thought and think the product was awful. But free is free.

I think they look like the kind of little dolls my friends and me had way too much fun playing out tragic dramas with, when we were young and... innocent? Maybe that's why I like them, they make me nostalgic for being a horrible child.

  • Yep just looked the order up, got the kids 4 and david base both for free on april 15 2010.

Yep, I got them too on april 20th 2010.

  • They do look dollish. I won't say it is as bad as I made it sound. The disappointment at the time came from the fact the product in my opinion was a step backwards in quality and then to be told it was the end of the road because of the lack of a market for child figures was a bummer. The kids 4 never received much in the way of product support. There was little you could do with it. I think i bought the skater outfit but that is where it ended because I was mainly using Poser anyway.
