Hello Daz Gurus
I was curious how to take away all of the background (ground included) so that the only thing you are left with is the figure itself? That way the figure can be transported to Photoshop for collaging.. Currently I keep getting a background color that winds up in the figure's hair. Then I'd have to spend hours brushing out all of the color trapped in the hair strands.
As always, I appreciat you all's help.

If you are using Iray when rendering, turn off Draw Dome Possible also Draw Ground, but I think that is only if you want to turn off shadows to a degree, I may remember wrong though.
uncheck 'visible in render'. Pretty sure it's in the Display section of the parameters tab.
In Iray set Draw Ground to off (unless you want ground shadows), if using a HDRi turn Drawn Dome to Off, render and save as a png.
All of the other suggestions just leave a black background which gives me the color black to contend with as puts me back at square one...
Where is this Displace section yo uare talking about? I'll try that next.
You have to have the background item you want to turn off selected in the scene tab first.
Plus, I don't know how it works in Iray. I only use 3DL.
Uhm.. What version of Daz are you using because I don't see those options.
DS 4.10.123
Note: I just opened up a scene and tossed the old MilEnvironment into it an d then selected that. So the first item in the list 'Environment' is the name of the item.
As you can see above.. I don't have those options and I'm using the same verson as you are it would appear.
Anyone else have any ideas?
Not really sure what the problem is. Here's a character with hair, saved as PNG. Imported into photoshop the background is transparent so I can change the background color as I like.
Ok, So just save as a PNG file.. Who would have thought that it would be that easy???
He, he, thanks!
Render in a separate window, there is a button to the right of the file name field where you can select file format when you save.
When you go to save your render, there is a drop down box to select file type. .PNG saves it with a transparent background as long as you don't have an object or HDRI in the background
edit: Taoz beat me to it.
Thank you!
Thank you !
