I found a bunch of stuff that hasn't been on sale the whole time I've had them wishlisted.
And I LIKE flat sales rather than 'incentivized' sales; I don't like feeling like I'm wrestling with someone over what to get. No, it's right there, on sale.
I just bought a bunch of stuff at another site where EVERYTHING is 50 % off..... No marketing games... It's a shame Daz didn't do the same
If I had a new release that was put on 50% sale I'd be pulling out a knife.
50% of something is still better that 0% of nothing
If the store were 80% off, I'm pretty certain most customers would not be complaining, unless it's actually broken and not working as intended.
Sure, at any given time, someone could be complaining, but I think what matters is what (substance of complaint)/who (is it a substantial number of people), etc.
I mean, here, the lead-off Thanksgiving sale is the most expensive Gen8 pro bundle release promo thus far, followed by a day of 50% off non-new content, etc. when some normal sales hold 60% off PA catalogues. "Underwhelming" and "boring" are perfect words to describe this sale, even if 50% off can be good for certain catalogues that do not otherwise normally go on sale, and even if we appreciate the fact that our wallets need a break.
That said, I do think the PC/PA sale this year really exceeded expectations, and was one of the best sales in years.
this my first black friday and was at least 70% off but as doint know when items am looking for will be back in sale ore better , but what would been good is 1 or 3 cupon with little bit exstra off the 50% at woould seem better
so i would have goten more items and streched paying for 1 more item kinda thing
and all the sale stuff been on for past months ,yes this some what laking ......... but not all items have that 50% off some still full price ,i have like 400 in wishlist and seem to keep adding
Despite what the forum would have you believe, people actually do buy new releases, even when the discounts are "only" 30%.
Which is awesome, because that's what keeps us PAs creating content in the first place. If everything was at deep discount, all the time, even for new stuff, then the complaints would be "where's all the content? why isn't there anything new?" because hardly any PAs would be able to afford continue producing content in that environment.
It's a balance. PAs need to have their time investments compensated, and customers need to know that what they buy is a good value, either because they scored a nice discount or because the product itself was that enjoyable.
That only applies to the people right on the knife edge, who wouldn’t pay at 30% but would at 50%.
Because at 50% I lose money on all the folks who would buy it regardless.
50% off new releases is typical throughout the March and PA sales months
40% is typical. 50% is unusual.
That's how I'm looking at it. I really could have waited on things. I certainly didn't need to buy anymore rightnow. But heck, I'll take advantage of the sale. Took a good number of things out of my wishlist.
Agreed. I see this as a chance to focus on stuff that rarely goes on sale because the PA involved is not very prolific or has retired. X-Morphs, which is I think either the only or almost the only product from the creator, is sitting in my cart for instance. And if you're comfortable converting poser dynamics to dforce, and maybe getting them to work on figures they're not meant for, check out the late Draagonstorm's store here for some optitex dynamics that she collaborated in converting to poser.
That reminds me, need to see if there's any 3Dream/Mairy or Valea hairstyles I haven't bought yet...

It pays to be picky. I've been waiting for a discount on one item for quite a while so I took this opportunity to grab it at 50% off. On the other hand, I also want Mabel 8 and she has been sitting at 50% discount quite often in the recent past, so I'll wait until she is on sale at a further discount (or make do with Edie and Grandmother which I already have). I'm not a PC+ member because my buying is sporadic (so I never take full advantage of the PC coupons, etc.) and I generally don't like most of what is on offer at PC+ prices - too much fantasy stuff which holds no interest for me and even the clothes that look interesting turn out to be lacking in morphs or versatility.
Indeed, it's tough if you're selling new and it is heavily discounted.
...good point. None of thse ridiculous Point games, BOGOs, "Buy this to get to get a discount on that" or anything like that for once. Just a straight 50% off like the old MM used to be (and if you still have your PC coupons they will work).
...my only real complaint, am totally tapped out form the PC+ sale and am too broke to buy anything more, even at any of the other the stores' Black Friday sales (and I found a nicely detailed OBJ model of a Tupolev 114-D "Rossya" in authentic era Aeroflot livery at one of the Pro stores discounted to 26$. [most aircraft models there are 90$ - 200$]...arrrgh-ski).

It's only underwhelming becuase of the two sales we just came off of. Frankly enough places are vying for my money right now it's a releif not to jump on anything here. It's not like I didn't spend my rear end off here recently...
I always like these for things like Filter Forge that is cheaper than even their website! So yes rare items/vendors get purchased by me now.
I use ATIs Browser extension and have the Favs marked as Need or Rare so I can shop a short list and prioritize whatever budget I have. The no buy-in really helps!
So trua, been looking at apps and plugins that never go on sale and noticed Blacksmith 7 pro for half price at rendo and in the cart it went along with a couple of tannenbuam german outfits that hardly ever go on sale and are kinda expensive. Here I have the LAMH 2 Iray Catalyzer and INFINITO 1.1.0.1 in the cart which I have been wanting to try
I too got a few big ticket items (for me) off my wishlist today. Amazing skins for the Minotaur 6 HD. know it's old but I have the whole Minataur 6 bundle which I like, and wanted it. since it can be used on humans too.. Knights Pavillion which is cool on it's own, but there are so many separate things you can use in other scenes, and Clothing Converter for G3M to G8M. I have tons of G3M clothes and barely anyt for G8M, so I thought give G8M some hand me downs.
Bought Grace on fast grab cus sh'e so cute.
Not buying Lee or the bundles, but got the Samuri Bun and Hot Shot Outfit
And finally the dforce Master Cloth Simulation Presets.since it's 50% off. Bought a few other things too.
Since I'm letting my PC membership lapse on Nov 25th, thought I might as well go out with a bang. Spent too much over the last 10 yr. Me and esp my cc need time off. I'm deleting the link from my menu bar too, so I'm dead serious. That's a big step for me.
Went in on the Samurai robe. That THING! - will be used for everyone. Dirty/dingy for the peasants and farmers, regal shaders for the emperor and normal plain for common ronin and such. That's a wonderful addition to the library. I'm also all over the internet doing the Black Friday thing. I got some cheapo greebles and a ton of post-work software. Slowly gearing up for next year.
