I'm going to justify my future purchases by the fact I gave up smoking - on day 6 so far. HARDEST damn thing I've ever done. Even harder than dumping a cart at daz cos i had no money LOL. Husband is still smoking tho, so each time he buys something smoking related (tobacco, filters, papers etc) I shall buy something at daz. That might make him give up quicker LOL. But payday is tomorrow DAMN IT, so I am praying to the DAZ gods that they will extend the "final catchup" just ONE MORE DAY, so I can pick up a pro bundle for $20 LOL.

    There's MY justification.

They finally cracked me...I was doing so well up until today...Then, I just had to buy a BUNCH of stuff...including that Olympia 8 Pro Bundle.  I've been planning to get the Barbarian outfit for a while.  So, I figured, "What the heck?"  It's the outfit and some hair props that I will probably use plus the rest of it.  I also bought that Leony bundle.  I really like the wet or dry hair...figured the character and outfit were worth another 6 bucks. :)

Gotta lot of good stuff...in spite of the price raise on the PC+ for a day.  I threw the drapery set in my cart as a new item, just to qualify.  But, looking at it, I think it might end up being really useful.  A lot of castle rooms, etc...could really be livened up with some fluid cloth drapes and hangings.

LOL, love hearing the decision making process and how to justify a purchase. I do the same thing and try real hard not to think "oh, shiny new toy, I NEED it!" LOL

LOL, congrats on quiting smoking! I have never even tried it, but both parents used to smoke and I saw how hard it was for them to quit.

I don't have hardly any vices anymore, don't smoke, don't do drugs, don't hardly drink anymore despite having a full bar at the apt. I fish, or play golf every so often. Hit the gun range couple of times a month, so I guess 3D is my biggest money drain, (well that and the GF, LOL)

Thanks! :) I'm struggling tho. LOL. But I'm determined. Tobacco is my only vice - that and DAz, of course. Considering how expensive tobacco/cigs are over here, I'm hoping we'll save a LOT of money .. for me to spend here heh

I'm not seeing introductory prices on today's items yet... Not that it matters, because I really shouldn't buy anything right now laugh

(Edit: they are showing in the cart, just not on the sale page yet)

Well you're already more or less over the worst part, you should start feeling better and better now for every day (stopped 3 times myself after smoking up to 40 a day, last time for good, so I know the drill).

Thanks :) I know the physical cravings disappear quickly - it's the mental ones that are harder. LOL. I'll get there.

LOL… Feels like it was all one sale, doesn't it? There were seven weeks of the PA Sale going right into five weeks of the PC+ Anniversary Sale. That's almost three solid months… No wonder @TigerAnne is going through withdrawals!

  • They said it straight forward with today's banner: "Holiday Shopping Is Easier With A Discounted Gift Card"

So true, funny how it seems.

Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Thanksgiving are usually pretty good. (At least one of the three.) Last year's Thanksgiving was really insane.

I used to dream about having cigarettes. Dreams went away after a few years though.

.It's just over six months since I quit smoking. I started at the age of fifteen, and by the time I stopped 38 years later I easily smoked more than anyone else I know. We used to get duty-free tobacco whenever my son went abroad with his Italian girlfriend to see her family, saving up for between 3-6 months worth at a time because it was so much cheaper. We estimated that 50g each would last us a week and would stretch out our stash accordingly. Or at least, my husband did. I'd always run out two or three weeks before we were due to get any more, and my husband made such a big thing of it the first time it happened that after that I would keep the last empty Italian packet when I ran out, then sneakily buy British baccy for a couple of weeks and turf it into the Italian packet so that no one would know how much I was getting through! I've had one of those 'smoking' dreams and get hit by a couple of cravings a week even now, but it's safe to say that if I can get this far then pretty much anyone can :) You'll do it, Jaki - behind you all the way :)

  • I guess they went on forever - but they never developed the intenisty of previous sales. I wasn't staying up until DAZ midnight waiting for the roll-over, hoping for glitches. I only saw one or two decent glitches the entire sale - and while there were some nice freebies - the best deals and freebies seemed far more reserved than previous years.

Part of that is a function of that I now own so much of the DAZ library, some of the great deals they did this time, I already owned everything they were giving away or deeply discounting.

I'm still in this G8F funk. I picked up Edward cheap... and I've been wanting him for a while... and I was considering Floyd too, during that deal... but G8 - the big problem for me remains that there is no Generation X support - and the idea of buying all of Cayman's and ZevO's utilities again even if there *were* Generation X support - makes it a less attractive generation to me than G3. And most of the focus on new items seemed to be G8 content - which is understandable. It just doesn't encourage me to open my wallet.

You can always use Redz method for transferring morphs from g3 to g8. It works well but does take a bit of time. Otherwise, I use a lot of g3 clothes and hair on g8. Keep an eye open for sales on g8 morphs. I picked up most of Thorne's for half price. Also, there are some good ones that are PC+.

you sound exactly like me and my husband - i'm a heavier smoker than he is, and he always makes a big deal of me finishing the tobacco before he does :eyeroll: Heh. Thanks for the support - I'm getting there hopefully. :)

over 2 years for me now.   Himself and I were both trying to give up I was down to about 8 a day when he was rushed to hospital with what was to turn into his last trip.

Losing him so suddenly could have started my smoking heavily again but instead the day of his funeral I vowed that the packet of ciggies I had was going to be my last,  and I have stuck with it so far.   As I said  two years and some months now.    I still fancy a smoke on occasion, but haven't given in so far.

Thank you, Daz, for nice discount on a Gift Card, if I buy it along with Lee 8. The only problem is I put the last of my 3D budget into a gift card, (at a lesser discount,) a couple of days ago.

The featured artists catalogues in the Fantasy promotion have dropped from the advertised 60% to 40% when you go to artist page.

And now to get the gift card we have to spend cash for Lee 8 Pro instead of using the gift card we already bought.

Overall I think this is the worst offer on a Pro bundle that we have had in a long, long time. Much as I would like Lee 8 I may have to pass on getting this bundle.

I... kind of like Lee 8. He's a good-looking bloke, but I'm really not into ninjas or samurais or East-Asian fashions. frown The i13 offer is tempting, but the three new items I actually want add up to $40, which is the same price as just buying the two sets I want. Yes, I would get a nice hair-style, a lovely Regency suit and cool accessories in addition, but meh. I bought a lot of stuff yesterday, that are in the No Regrets category, and I'd rather save up those 40 bucks to see what offers show up tomorrow.

This is becoming a thing. We've had several sales recently where a giftcard was offered, and then just a few days later a better deal was offered on a giftcard. :( (I bought my discounted giftcard 15 hours before this sale.)

On the flip side, my buy-in to get the 15% gift card was less than $12.

If you take advantage of all the side promos that require the Pro Bundle in the cart at the the same time, you're looking at close to $100, (or more,) before you add the gift card. Seems to me, that limits the face value of the GC one can afford by about $100. And you don't get any discount on the Pro Bundle. I don't think I'd take Daz up on the offer, even if I hadn't just bought a $300 GC. Now, had I not bought the GC, and adding a GC to the cart immediately discounted everything by 20%, that's an offer I'd strongly consider.
