I just checked my account and the last time I spent money here was almost 2 years ago, can't believe it has been that long. After 3DUniverse also started releasing genesis stuff only, I stopped buying here completely. Yes.... I still buy poser content, but my money is spent elsewhere, I'm still a V4/M4 user and only use figures that work natively in Poser. I'm getting roughly $20-$50 worth of content each month, with some exceptions, for my last project I got over $500 content for V4/M4, my biggest order ever, but nothing was spent here and never will be spent here. Most of the items in that order have similar versions here in the store, but after some of the recent moves DAZ made I have no desire at all to spent money here anymore.

Yep! Enough of us stop spending money here, DAZ'll go out of business. Boo-hoo, small business's crash all the time, why should anybody care? Certainly none of us should bother saying why we're not buying anymore, its not like anybody at DAZ is paying attention. And no reason to be disturbing someone's morning coffee, that's just inconsiderate. :shut:

I've read a good chunk of the posts in this thread, and all of the posts since it was resurrected. So somebody at DAZ is paying attention.

I was into 3D art in 2005-2007, and am now back after a hiatus. Back then, I spent a lot at DAZ, Renderosity, and Content Paradise.

Today, CP is a ghost town. On the rare occasion I buy something there, it also seems to take forever to download.

I think of DAZ as the high quality store, and Renderosity as more of the common bazaar. Not to say there isn't a lot of great, high quality stuff at Renderosity but I think the quality bar is a bit lower there. Which is OK - I like the diversity. I think DAZ is often "if we have something similar, we don't want more" while Renderosity seems to let more related products. For example, if you go searching for space backgrounds at Renderosity there's a ton, while at DAZ there may be only a few.

If I buy something at DAZ, it's generally as a centerpiece.

Honestly I wish there was a fourth or fifth place that was like DAZ/Renderosity/CP. There are other sites, but I'm a hobbyist and I'm not going to spend $100 on a spaceship model, and other sites seem to be less Poser/DS focused and more 3DS/OBJ/WAV focused.

I'm getting a bit burned out on the ladies wear and the female figure and clothing focus that the market has had since the release of Gen2 female.

I love these figures, and own much of the new content. But my focus is still on men's stuff... And the constant wave of estrogen is beginning to tire me out.

I hope that g2 male is released soon to balance stuff out.

I used to think that, but the last few orders I made at DAZ and the recent ones at Rendo made me change my mind. The last few orders I made here, I returned, the quality just wasn't good enough, especially not for a centerpiece at all. The recent V4/M4 items I got at Rendo (quite a lot) surpased everything I did have in my runtimes from DAZ. It was high quality and still lot's of extra's coming with it. I don't think of Rendo as a bazaar anymore, although there are items there that could be better, but so are here. I do think they both offer the same quality these days.

I think DAZ is often “if we have something similar, we don’t want more” while Renderosity seems to let more related products.

Have you ever looked at the dresses and fantasy stuff here :-) Same old over and over again. DAZ has little variety.

Oh there's also RuntimeDNA. I forgot about them because I never seem to find anything there to buy.

They absolutely are after I posted my 1st thought they contacted me claiming I was a good customer and asked for my opinions and concerns. I do well selling custom renders since I work for a living I re invested alot of it into content (It's nice not to have to shell out of pocket:) To give you an idea I just added 15 more custom renders to my commish project gallery on D/A I am closing in on 900 so I have invested quite bit and like many to attempt to have it made obsolete so quick was a tad upsetting. I am just happy they are paying attention,,

I use DAZ not Poser which is why I am less enthusiastic about Rendo. If I am spending money, I want it to work out of the box on DAZ without tweaking. I just bought an item at Rendo that was so unique that I had to have it. It works 90% on DAZ. I should have known better.

Yeah, I hear you about the stuff not working so well in daz. Sometimes it is a crap-shoot. I've bought items at rendo that worked great, and other items not so much. I am often tempted by content, since I go through dry spells here at DAZ where there is nothing in my chosen genre.

I would shop at rendo more if they would tone down the girly ads which pop up no matter what section I am in. I prefer a less in your face presentation.

There are more sites and you just have to regularly check for sales specials normally around holidays. Xurge3D is now making outfits for Genesis WOOHOO! Link: Xurge3D Genesis and they now and again have 10% discount vouchers and a big sale around Chrissy time.

Also if you prepared to walk on the wild side there is Renderotica (sorry no links from me kiddies as its adults only). They have a few sales now and again. I confess I have purchased some interesting things from there but truly I haven't use them yet. I just don't have that type of imagination. And Davorama who sells great sci-fi sets here has more over there with "optional" adult attachments. LOL.

I get many spaceship models from the internet for free (legally). However most are in LWO or 3DS format which Daz Studio doesn't read so I convert them in Poser to PP2 so I can use in DS. Or you can use Blender to convert them to OBJ format (& fix the UVs which always converts bad). Yes I have Poser but just to fix content to use in DS. Mattymanx at deviantArt has many StarTrek spaceships models already converted for Poser & DS for free Link: deviantArt mattymanx.

You just have to use Google search and you find more and be patient. I think I have at least 50 sites bookmarked, with many in Japan having assorted free content. I love their anime/manga fan content which is sadly missing (or very little of) from Daz market or other stores. I'm a big fan of the old Aiko 3 and still use her.

I love Xurge3d. Great stuff there, for M4, v5, and Genesis.

I too am always on the hunt for scifi stuff, although I'm only interested in content with licensing for commercial use, and avoid content which is obviously trademarked.

Whenever I go to Rendo I hope that maybe I'll find some cool male item that's new but I only ever see stuff for V4 and hairstyles that might be cool but the promos that are presented for them look really sketchy. I have bought a few hair styles and two lovely m4 characters from Rendo, and some of Sickleyield's stuff (he/she has a lot more stuff over there than here >_>) Although the materials for the 2 characters I purchased require some tweaking (or else some parts of the skin look shiny.)

Also I'm always weary of purchasing from other sites because DAZ has DIM which is amazing. And I'm too lazy to unzip folders.

My feelings about DAZ are really kind of wonky right now.

The last...., well I guess the last two years here were terrible. I'm surprised they survived what happened to their store. And the way Genesis 2 Female / V6 were introduced, at least looking at it as a customer, has to be the worst release of anything I've ever seen. No attempt to built up a hype, no explanation what the new figure was or what it was for or what was wrong with the still relatively new Genesis, the incredibly crappy 'bonus items' that came with the pro bundle, the little amount of content (not to even touch on it's quality...) - not to mention that Genesis 2 is now stuck at an awkward spot between Genesis and V4 and Dawn and I'm getting nightmares about what that might mean for it's future content.

Not to mention the figure. Looking at V6's arms made my eyes hurt the first time I did load her into a scene. But I think my heart skipped a beat when I opened Reality and saw that her surfaces no longer have numbers according to the maps they use. No way that this decision was made in a sober state.

Unfortunately things are not that easy. As for the figure, now that Dawn has been released, I am starting to understand that, for the time being, Genesis 2 Female / V6 is the best figure in the room - at least imho. And for all her faults...I like the figure. I think she looks great. She's only a few fixes away from looking completely awesome. Her mapping is still a giant bummer - but on the other hand, DAZ is starting to use normal maps more, which is nice. I want more content for her and I am willing to buy it. Especially if it's not as bad as what we've seen so far (mostly seen, I guess, there is some great stuff, of course).

And DAZ, the company...they're doing a bit better. Not great, the store still has problems, they still seem to have given up on building any kind of hype towards their figures...but the last few changes to the store made things better. They have started to appear back on the forums again, which is nice. And while to good old days of vouchers seem to have passed for good - there have been quite a few nice coupons recently that always seem to make me buy stuff.

There have been a great many letdowns with DAZ in the recent past, but for the first time in months I am getting the impression that they are making an effort to make things better again.

I'm always looking for mens stuff as well. I have bought as few great skins at renderosity and use those quite often, but I've also gotten a few duds which don't look that great in daz. It is tough to spend that kind of money without knowing how it will look. Recently I found a nice men's accessory pack at content paradise, where I usually find very little. I really like dim too.

I would say that Renderotica is a very underestimated site. Sure there's some really bad stuff over there and some stuff with no use outside pornography. But there's also some genuinely great and useful stuff that you won't find anywhere else. I'm wondering where they are heading with their new site :D

Yep I agree. I have a lot of Lilflames more daring outfits from there. Not sure how I'll use them yet. I'm about as kinky as a straight edged ruler. LOL. And Davo's sci-fi sets are awesome even without the "optional" adult attachments, unless your Aliens are medical officers that have probing other life forms as part of their job description.
