how do you download the installer and keep anything from downloading anyting to your main hard drive

  Assuming you are using Install Manager, go into Setup (the gear icon in the upper right corner) and click on the Downloads tab. You should see "Download To:" right underneath the row of tabs. Click the ellipsis button "..." at the far right and navigate to the drive and folder you want to use. That's where your downloads will go.

  For installing things, click on the Installation tab. Here you can set/add/change the location of the Library where the content will go. The bottom half is a list of mapped folders that can be used. You can add a new one by clicking on the "+" at the bottom left and selecting a path like before, but for the Library folder you want to use. Make sure you select the proper "Current" shortcut from the drop-down list at the bottom, the default is set to "Recommended DAZ Studio/Poser Content Folder"

  Click accept and you're ready to go.

  You need to check the Work Offline box the first time you start DIM then do as the others have said.  You may want to use Contact Us at the bottom of the page to send DAZ a feature request to remove their new user autodownload and install function.

  The manifest files for the installed content will still be downloaded to the system drive by DIM:

  C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles

  They don't take up much space though, but if you want to move them anyway you can change the location in this file:

  C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\UserAccounts\Account.ini

  The path is stored in the "OverrideManifestDir=" key, by default it has no value but if you add a path DIM will put the files there instead of in the default location.

  Note that you must use slash instead of backslash, and DIM must be closed when changing the path otherwise it will mess up the path when it it closes.

  E.g.:  OverrideManifestDir=H:/DAZ InstallManager/ManifestFiles
