Not a complaint, but my cell phone carrier whom i have been with for almost 10 years now, have upgraded my data plan from 2.5gb a month to 10gb a month! At no extra charge to me. So that's pretty awesome, even though I don't ever use that much data. But still. Good times.
Kinda cool isn't it! They did it to me a few months ago.
I was suspicious of their offer but after some phone calls decided that there really wasn't any hidden agenda or costs except that they didn't want me to jump ship to another carrier.
Yes, I can say I was pretty excited. I guess loyalty pays off eventually.
Major Complaint: It looks like Florence may be inbound.
...saw that but I don't work with animation as it requires too much horsepower for the rendering (particularly in Iray).
I do have DZFire's The Flock: Butterflies as well as Noggin's old Flutterby collection.
Noggin's also included a couple animation cycles but they were python based for Poser.
...I gave up on my service. 55$ a month for unlimited everything (and they called that a "senior's rate", they obviously don't live on Social Security). In a usual month, I maybe get 10 - 12 calls a and call out about half that many times as well as use maybe about 1.5 G of Data to check bus/tram arrivals, sports scores, and emails as well as order E-Tickets from the transit service. Texting is a frustrating exercise in futility for me which I could actually do without. Looks as if I'm going to have to pay cash fares on the bus/tram and guess when the bus will arrive for a while until I can find a plan that better fits my budget.
Unfortunately the phone I have is locked to the specific carrier so even if I can get a low cost one for say 25$ a month that suits my needs, I have to buy another phone that will cost 100$ or more. No multi year contracts for the Kid here, that's for sure.
...I've been keeping track. Stay safe. Not so much wind, but as I understand, a lot of rain.
I have never paid more than 50.00 for a cell phone, course they aren't the newest most up to date ones but I only use them for the phone ,GPS, an occasional text and taking pictures........look around...
...'plaint: Felt like I was being carpet bombed by emails today. Finally got through all of them only about 30 min ago since waking up this morning. Seems I'd finish reading and/or responding to one when I saw that five or had more popped up after going back to the inbox. Usually Fridays are the lightest weekday apparently not today (176 so far) and it wasn't the end of the month or quarter when every cause and candidate needs you to get those donations in by midnight to close their books.
Making me reconsider continuing to be a "concerned citizen".
Is Florence a meanie?
I'm with Virgin Mobile, my plan is only $35 a month, 38.75 with sales tax. And I have never paid more than $80 for a smartphone. Most Pre-paid carriers are just as good as the Post-paid ones, and their phones often go on sale. Shop around.
I wish. It is down to a tropical storm right now but it is predicted to redevelop into a major hurricane before it hits the coast.

Oh, y'all talkin' about cell phone service?
I thought you were talking about Internet service, like DSL or fiber or cable ... Yeah, I guess the numbers were a tip off. (*blush*). I was talking about my DSL service data rate that got upped from something like 10Mb/sec to 100Mb/sec for free, they gave me a new modem and wired me up with a second phone line to distribute the bandwidth over, without any extra charges. Which was damn decent of them. I don't actually reach 100Mb/sec rates but do routinely get 60Mb/sec which is more than adequate for streaming NetFlix and YouTube shows.
I don't really use my cell phone for anything except a rare call if I'm out in the car. I've got a $10 Android phone that I bought from TracFone and I pay about $7/month for TracFone call time. And I've had a Gigabyte of TracFone data service for a year that I've never used.
I never use up all my talk minutes and they keep on adding up. Someday I should call somebody and talk for a week or so.
....the trick with that is making sure the carrier you go with actually uses that particular model. Some phones (like mind) are specifically dedicated to the carrier.
....just checked them and my phone is not compatible even though they sell the same brand. Also even if I could get it unlocked, I fear the battery may be going south as I just had if off the charger for about an hour or two and it drained 56% with no active apps or open tabs (and supposedly no connection as the service was cut off two days ago).
Need to head out though I found the location of a Virgin dealer pretty close by so I'll go over there tomorrow. There is another service that was recommended to me for people like myself who are on a fixed income but it is literally on the other side of the metro area, a 2 - 3 hour multi bus transit trip away.
If your service was cut off 2 days ago and battery is draining it is probably cause it is searching for a signal because of no connection.......
I've used Metro Pc no contract with them and now use Cricket again no contract oh yeah and I bought the phone from them each time .....(does that make sense?)

Two words: Consumer Cellular. They even give a 20% discount for AARP members. I pay a little less than you...for two phone numbers (Diane's and mine). Unlimited talk, unlimited text, and 3 Gigs of data (more than I'll ever actually use, because mostly I'm at home and use the WiFi for data, web and stuff). They recently (within the past 6 months or so) doubled the data and eliminated limits on the talk and text. And with Norton's WiFi Privacy, a virtual VPN, I can use anyone's free WiFi without worries, wherever I go. It encrypts your connection and data, nobody can spy on you and steal your info. If your phone has a SIM card, you may be able to replace it and use the phone on their service. Diane's phone was given to her by a friend and that's what we did.

...yeah but their only office in town is the one which I mentioned is a 3 connection 2 - 3 hour bus trip across the metro area. I like having an outlet a little closer to home than that should I run into difficulties.
Not an AARP member as based on what I've seen on their site, they seem tailored more towards affluent retirees who have nice phat retirement accounts, not people like myself who are eking it out month to month on Social Security. They even supported what I consider regressive policies by both federal and state administrations.
Very tired of having services for us "po folk" always being difficult to get to. it's just like after I was laid off from my job, the Workforce office I needed to go to for workshops and referrals was way out on the far east end of town (there used to be an office in the city centre that they closed which I could have biked to rather than spending bus/tram fare and over an hour to get to). If they really wanted people to get a job, they would have made such services more centralised and convenient.
....thanks, didn't realise that. Went into settings and urned off all connections on my end including data. Will see what happens tomorrow.
Yeah old school here. My old "dumb" flip phone will hold a charge for three weeks before I have to recharge it.
...yeah spent the latter part of the evening at the pub watching the "Triple D". Gotta love "Flavourtown".
Some people go to the local hangout to watch sports, I do so to watch foodie shows so I can "steal" new techniques and recipes. Great lady bartender there always has it on the telly on Fridays

Mistara, where are you? It's unheard of to not hear from you in a week.

Misty, where are you?

Does anyone frequent some of her other threads? I thought she had one or two.

OMG it's a mistara-ry.
...yeah, looked around on other forums and threads she usually frequents and haven't seen anything recently posted. Also checked on DA and last posting there was August 28th.
...'nother phone 'plaint: Went to the site for my present phone service to discover they tacked an additional 20.42$ onto my bill on top of the 20$ reactivation fee, so now I'm looking at almost 96$. Unfortunately they don't have support chat like other comm companies do, so the only way to contact their customer service is by phone and since my service was shut off, that is pretty much moot. So I now have to go to one of that company's offices (which is in the opposite direction of the Virgin Mobile one I was going to go to) to get this all straightened out, close my account and get possibly get the phone I paid for unlocked (that is probably why when I put the device ID number in on the Virgin site to see if I could switch it, over it came up negative).
What a pain in the bum this is becoming.
Well you might try to get a better deal out of your company if you tell them you are going to switch carriers ,I wasn't able to get my Metro phone unlocked when I switched to Cricket which was why I had to get the new phone from Cricket ,I think that they think it will keep you from switching ,that extra charge sucks big time and a reactivation fee too ,I forgot to pay my bill once for a week and wasn't charged a reactivation fee and if they has tried I'd tell them no way there are too many better choices out there ,oh and you might just go to the Virgin Mobile store and explain the situation if you are trying to keep the same number ,it is still being held by your ex company ... and they could deal with the switching
