Heh, I thought you would be happy about that! I was thinking the guys at the Elvis impersonators convention just got a ton more varierty in things to wear. The creators did a good job on that one. Thanks for posting your lineups. I think Dwayne will give an interesting mix with other characters, and Brandon will look great with The Girl.

  • I didnt like him at first but love hairs and some outfits in the Pro Bundle. And the price is really good (cheapest G8 pro bundle ever).

So I just picked him up.

And wow he really add something to the gene pool.

Fantastic render. I agree, a little Dwayne can add a lot of personality to many characters.

I'm a bit confused about the Top Toon/Selected Toon Items vs the Bonus Top Toon/Toon Items Dohs categories. (NB: there's a difference between what it says on the button and the title of the page the button links to, and yes, they really called the second one "Toon Items Dohs".) There are a LOT of items on both pages; you'd expect that there would be a cleaner division between what is on each page so that you know what items to get to trigger a discount.

Never mind. Completely misread DAZ_Steve's post the first couple times.

The first pro bundle that I can say: No, not for me at all.

There is nothing in that bundle that shouts: Buy me,

Only my humble opinion of course.

@Redz, does the facial hair work well when expressions are applied? I've had problems with previously purchased G8 facial hair products not fitting properly when expressions are applied, so I thought I'd ask first this time. Thanks.

I still haven't used Morpheus so not sure about this bundle... If it had come with a large choice from a variety of free bundles that I don't already own or other freebies, I might have jumped, but unless I see some amazing renders that somehow change my mind, this is a pass. It looks like he'd be fun to play with in the gene pool, just not sure what I'd need him for considering how many morphs I already own. I wish Daz would have offered some free early G8 Male bundles that I passed on at the time, then I would have jumped too, but this offer seems very "meh" to me.

I could change my mind, but at this point the deal is not good enough for me to purchase something I don't really need. I hope they bring back the free bundles and start offering G8 ones, then I'd definitely purchase...

@DestinysGarden You know me and my Elvis suits (even wrote them into my latest book, LOL!) I can't take credit for the lineup, that's one of the promos. I can't wait to get home and play with him a bit!

@nohiznyugen Great render! Lots of personality there. I think people are going to have a lot of fun once they start mixing him into other characters. A lot like they did with Ollie.

So the sale matrix may confuse people so here is my sample cart. I do want several items in the pro bundle and here is a screenshot which might help folks understand the sale a bit better. As usual buying pro is often cheaper than buying ala carte. Dwayne is now quite inexpensive and I get the boots and textures for less.

Wow! I was waiting to see if there was any extra discount banner but those toon eye flowers are perfect product companion for the Toon Dwayne 8 Pro Bundle so I went ahead and bough it rather than pick through the pieces I was likely to use. I also bought the Toon Eye Flower Petals

Man I missed the eye petal one. Bummer. I think they are really cute.

Hi Barbult, the facial hairs have been designed to follow expressions using autofollow and rigidity groups where required. In my tests with the Daz expressions they worked very well. Should you run into difficulties let me know.

Well created a nice morph, fixed the arms to my liking.  Was going to try to save it but upon saving out the FBM, even though it was supposed to JUST save the morph info from ZBrush the resulting file saved out was the translations to resize the limbs and the base morph I worked off of Dwayne.  So I guess it's one I keep to myself.  Sorry folks.  My old brain can't keep all this info straight sometimes!

That looks very nice ramwolf. Too bad it can’t be shared. He looks good.

  • "Strange - a lot of people waits for male characters, but when such item appears - just complaints."

+1. Why would a vendor want to put the immense amount of time required to create a male product when those asking for more want something so specific that there's very little chance of pleasing them? Mixing toon head morphs at very low values can really bring personality to a figure - I've done this for years with my own character, and now I think she looks bizarre without a toon morph -  so I don't think Dwayne is completely useless to male figure renderers. I also still don't get people who are yelling for David or another Freak when you can make your own with any of the the dozens of morph sets also available here. These oddball characters are important releases specifically because you can't duplicate these results with existing morph sets.

I've got a bigger problem with this discussion though - why the need to tell everyone that you're NOT buying this? Whoop-de-frickin-doo, I'm not buying it either because I only render fantasy females, but I don't feel the need to criticize something that I have no intention of purchasing. DAZ could release a David 8/Lee 8/Jason Momoa 8 megapack and the release thread would be full of complaints that there's no Jason Momoa 7.

    Why the need?

I think everyone who comes to the forums is most certainly a terminal Daz addict, and both dread and eagerly look forward to release sales, perfectly natural for them to be disappointed if they feel they're missing the festival (if even if also a little relieved). Thats a mixed up cocktail right there of both sweet and sour

Thank you.  He does need a few JCM's for the shoulders, you can't see it but I know it's there with the arm thrust out, it's not pretty on the other side there!  lol  His pecs need some more work too as you can see but it was a rough draft.  Quite happy with the head though, sort of reminds me a little bit of Freak 3!

I got alot of Wreck It Ralph vibes from Dwayne 8, Not what I was hoping for, but I like him and the items in the bundle look real good.

Question, can the arms be dailed down?

I've been waiting for a Superhero Character bundle for the Genesis male 8 since Scott 6, DAZ, I'm still waiting, luv Henry Cavill fan girl.

The arms are really a problem. What makes them go away on the 2 add on characters?
  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,343

There is actually a dial that helps with that, which I discovered AFTER my cussing and screaming in ZBrush to normalize them again!  lol

Ram I'm looking exactly where your pointing and I'm not seeing that dial, even with "Show Hidden" on.

    Am I just missing it?

Err, so yeah I broke down and bought him because the pricing was so good and frankly the Pro bundle items appeal to me, almost all of them.

After pulling him up with Girl 8 he's obviously NOT the G8 version of Guy, which was my concern when I saw him this morning. As a standalone character he looks fun, but now Girl is still missing her male counterpart :/

female bundles are criticized as well so it isn’t just that this is a male only occurrence.

There is so little men’s content so people are disappointed when the base figures they want aren’t available or released and a niche figure is. That seems understandable to me.

Yes, they're criticized for not being a male release.   ;)

Five new male outfits were included in this release too, all of which can be purchased and used without Dwayne, so that's something as well.

Well, Redz did get my money this time, but then again, she frequently does. LOL I can always use more facial hair.

    Laurie

When I go to Redz catalog, I see "5 of 22," which includes today's facial hair product, hair from Mable and Floyd bundles that are in my wishlist, and the two historical hair products, also in my wishlist. She is definitely one of my all time favorite vendors, and I love all of her hair products. (I have several I bought from Rendo, before she became a PA here.)

I'm afraid Brandon without Dwayne isn't really a keeper. A great body, but the face is.... wrong. Click for bigger.

I wonder if the face could be improved on by dialing in the head morph of another character, or using a product like the 200 Plus morph pack…?

Also, Toon Dwyane comes with a Proportions Adjust slider under Full Body that gives him less exaggerated proportions. Less Popeye.

There is nothing about this option on the sales page! What other morphs/options does Dwayne have that aren't listed, I wonder…

I was going to comment that I'm on the fence about Dwayne, specifically because of the oversized hands/forearms. With Ollie, there are morphs specifically to adjust both the length and the overall size of the nose, and those morphs are listed on the sales page. I was hoping for similar morphs for Dwayne's forearms, but nothing like that is listed. I reqally think it could help sales if all the Dqayne-specific adjustment morphs were listed on the product page.

In case Daz is keeping track of our whys and why nots, this is again a pro bundle I'm only considering because of the two included hair products. With all the incentives to buy now, the cost of the Pro bundle isn't much more than buying the two hair products separately. That means I'm paying about $9 for the other 9 products. I could have gone with some cheaper Top Toons, but the four I chose are products I've wanted but couldn't justify at higher prices. 80-86% off works for me. LOL

A banner for an additional 20% would clinch the deal without any more thought, but so would a list of all the shape morphs on the product page, if they include a morph to dial down those Popeye arms completely, (making the hands and forearms proportionate with the rest of the body.) I like that they are available, I'd just like to remove them for the times I want to mix Dwayne with other characters.

Okay, it looks like there is a way to fix those arms included. A shame that wasn't listed on the product page! Thanks for the screernshot, @RAMWolff.

Good to know, I usually don't do alot of body shaping, so getting rid of the exaggrated arms are a must.

Anyone else having problems with his hands? Every time I try to pose them, they go all wonky. May have to reinstall.

Super quick render, not many iterations, have to work on some other things for a bit, and then I'll try to redo it:

75% Garrett for M8, 25% Dwayne. Not sure why the hands are crazy. I restarted DAZ and tried fresh, still wonky.

Aha! I know what it is. The hands go wonky when you add in the Dwayne Proportion Adjust slider. It doesn't play well with the other morphs. Take that out and his hands are fine. I guess I'll be filing a bug report.

Your most welcome.  I really wish I would have dicovered that FIRST!  lol

Here is more improvements on my little attempt to make Dwayne more of something I'm willing to work with on occasion.  Improved the pecs allot, shape of the head, rib case and that little area around where the arms and pecs meet seems improved with this pose that I've tweaked quite a bit from the Dwayne Pro package.  This mohawk I have for Genesis 8 Male is quite fun to play with.  Got lots of styling morphs.  Nothing too outrageous but could add in some morphs if I wanted to but I'm happy enough.

FYI, after some testing, that slider is specific to Boris (found it after I installed him)  and probably should have been a hidden slider. Adjusting it on any character (including Boris) breaks the hands, only evident after you attempt to pose the figure. In the A pose, it LOOKS like it's adjusting the proportions, but it's really setting up the default Dwayne shape for Boris proportions.

ugh, the feet though.  Might get it just for the hair.  The pro bundle and some plushies make it worth it.

That sounds like the same issue I'm having. I bet it's a bug.
