Lots of bodysuits- does anybody besides me think how impractical they are?

First, I'm not sying bodysuits aren't good-looking. I bought a lot of them.

But did you ever wear one? Highly impractical, if you have to go to the restroom. You would have to strip down, kind of. A zipper in front doesn't help much ... Not even for men, half the time.

In my sci-fi universe, there's a flap that is seamless. Fabrics have also advanced and zippers and buttons are stylistic choices, not only a matter of function.

This vendor seems to specialize in Body Suits. They  are all rather similar, but I am jealous of anyone that collects them all and does Sci-Fi or superhero and uses them all.

They make a true cohesive fashion look. I want then all.

I don't even suggest we (2018) know what material they are made from - stuff that breathes? Elastic polymers.......velcro-like seams...who knows.

Since most bodysuits are made for women and there is no matching male suit I tend to pass anyway. I need clothing for both genders so that the look and feel of my characters is consistent.

I usually avoid the plunging neckline and round circles around the breasts.

Long as the neck is squarish, I'm good.

the one look I’m not fond of is making the bodysuit look like the woman is wearing a lingerie and garters. The accent materials and textures being made to emphasize a sexy lingerie look even if it is a full body suit.

In the future women will still go to the bathroom in pairs, they'll have to help each other out of these outfits.

    genesis 2 bodysuit

And my runner up for "man, that's a lot of work to go to the bathroom" is

    Genesis 3 bodysuit

I guess if the crotch unbuttons at the bottom like some swimsuits do, it would be a lot easier. The undergarment doesn't seem to be attached down there.

Interesting topic/thread about going to the bathroom in a body suite. Back in the 80s one piece suites and teddy style jumpers were the rage and going out clubbing and drinking wearing one of those outfits was a mistake,  properly why the style was short lived. , In all the sci fi sets that daz and other 3d stores sell, I don;t think I seen a bathrooms set in a spaceship. or space station.

BTW , have you ever notice that Sci-fi movies don't ever have any bathroom scenes, like most horny teeny bobber movies do .. its properly because its so hard to go #1 or 2 in those super sexy tight sci-fi outfis..

In a fantasy world, bathroom trips are unheard of!  Heck, even in DC comics, the heros/heroines never ever put rescuing (while in their costume) on hold because they had to pee...nope...never seen it.

  • Oso3DOso3D Posts: 15,085

At least in DC TV shows it's referenced!

There's a bit in Arrow where Dinah Drake (who becomes the second Black Canary) is talking about a stakeout, where she has to pee REALLY bad and just as she's going to the target shows up and she has to go after them, and how hard that is. (I think she ended up tripping or something)

  • This has been a real-worl issue, when body-suit style ski-suits were popular.

  • grinch2901grinch2901 Posts: 1,247

It's not so much a DAZ issue but in the realworld I've bought men's pants that meet a new trend where the fly is really short, ending well above the approprate area for comfortable, uh, use.  Of course I don't think about that when I try them on or buy them but the first time I have to ... ahem .. see a man about a horse ... I realize that it's going to be more challenging than I'd expected. So ladies, gender equality in impractical bathroom fashion is starting to work it's way into society!

does anyone besides me think 99% of them could just be boots and a HD morph

given need LIE because genesis 3 and 8 stupidly IMO don't have separate surfaces for the head and hands from the torso

(latter could at least have a glove texture but back of head being part of the torso rules out any second skins))

A superhero once told me they all take anti-pee pills and that they taste horrible but it comes with the territory.

There used to be an old cartoon called the Mighty Heroes. They were all ridiculous (Rope Man, Cuckoo Man, for example). One of them was Diaper Man. He looked like a baby in a diaper with a cape, but had a gravelly voice and was the leader. His weapon was his baby bottle which he would hold by the rubber nipple and swing around.   As I said, riduclous.  Surprisingly this was made in the mid 60s and they only made 20 episodes (according to wikipedia) yet it ran regularly in reruns on late 1970s UHF channel cartoon afternoons which is where I saw it.

Bottom line, Diaper Man was already ahead of the curve on your idea.

If you are looking at an art piece, or reading a comic and wondering how the character goes to the bathroom, I think that it is a disservice to those mediums UNLESS, the artists intention was to draw your attention the that aspect. I understand that there seems to be two camps here: The realists, and the fantasiers.

To the realists: Perhaps people in the future are genetically no longer needing to use a bathroom or maybe their food no longer creates waste.

To the fantasiers: It's fantasy :)

Or, in some cases, it's a plot point.  In the a book I just read, the question "when was the last time you went to the bathroom?" causes the computer generated NPCs in a full immersion online fantasy game to become so discomboobulated by the fact that they've never actually gone (and yet know that they're supposed to) that it forces them into becoming self-aware A.I.s.

One of my favorite stories is that on the set of the movie Underworld, everyone was told not to comment on how star Kate Beckinsale smelled while wearing her form-fitting latex outfit, as apparently the odor was most accurately described as a sweaty condom.  Then again, if it's the fashion, a lot of people will put up with an odd odor.  Leather jackets and other clothing items have a rather distinctive smell, after all, as do a lot of vinyls and, back when they were popular, certain furs.

We often got snow on Halloween when I was a kid. I remember wearing clothes, a full snowsuit, and a Halloween costume over the snowsuit. A body suit looks like a breeze! lol

Redundant geometry is one of the things that inspired me to learn to model My own suits/clothing.
There is an older  product ,in the store ,for genesis 2 male that has 13 bloody conformers!!.....13!!, to present roughly the same amount of surface detail as this suit ( pictured below)

I recently created this  for the main Character in my movie
    after his ***spoiler Alert***.......

.....Restoration to full mobility from a parapalegic state.
this suit is based on the white"future foundation suits" worn by the Fantastic four in the latter years in the Comics
it is ONE conformer with surface detail modeled in thus much less resource intensive when posing or doing animation test renders

Is that the same thing as these?

    https://www.daz3d.com/no-suit-morphs-for-genesis-3-female-s

No Suit for Genesis 2 Female(s)

When is a suit not a suit?

    When it is a No-Suit!

Create an instant bodysuit for the Genesis 2 Female(s), premiere 3D models, with these "No Suit" morphs.

Ears and nose can instantly be hidden under a mask.

    Fingers turn to gloves.

    Feet turn into socks.

Create the hero of your choice with this set!

I agree, the only ones I can think of right off are the one's below for G3F & G3M.  I'm not sure that I can see these as military uniforms (in a realistic sense) because they are so tight fit.

Being retired Navy, there are one piece uniforms in use but they are looser fitting.  Flight suits are one example and the coveralls for submarine crews (underway) are another.

When wearing a one piece swimsuit, women have to go topless when using the restroom.  Yet we still have them.   So bodysuits impractical?  No.

Future bodysuits typically contain advanced waste recycling systems. You can wear one for an entire cross country motorcycle race and come out properly hydrated and smelling fresh as a daisy.

The good ones recycle nutrients so you don't even feel hungry, clear your fatigue poisons, preform medical procedures, and have relaxing massage functions.

Did you ever read "Gulliver's Travels"? Or the original Six-Million Dollar Man book "Cyborg"?

2001 had the legendary "zero gravity toilet" instructions. https://www.ee.ryerson.ca/~elf/aso/zeroGtoilet.html

And Star Trek gave us the phrase "to boldy go where no man has gone before", later extended to "where no one has gone before".

Superman could only pee in a special Kryptonian toilet. If he used an earth one, it would be like a water-jet cutter.

The original Green Lantern's ring had "power over everything, except that which is yellow".

Most of the body suits I have I can also put on the boys (and have quite a few times). I tend to shy away from those with peek-a-boo holes ;). Nearly all of them are scifi.

    He hee...

I used to own a bodysuit back in the day.  Long, sleeves, hood, loose fit, zipper from the neckline to the groin.  And yes, I had to take half of it off to go to the bathroom.  But I had a 'bitty waist back then and really looked good in it, so I'll say the inconvenience was worth it.

This is the best kind of superhero discussion.

I'm extremely tired of Infinity War and the unholy Disney/Marvel alliance.
