Models not labeled for use in Carrara

Is there a reason models available on DAZ are not labeled for use in Carrara?

because many duf files have issues

most if not all Poser content works fine

for many duf props for instance

one is UV wrap x needs to be unticked

saving it loaded as a Carrara scene uncompressed and finding and replacing all instances of ABoo 23 with ABoo 3 in notepad and saving as all files ANSI can fix that

for Genesis 3 and 8 the rigging and typos in the character file crashes Carrara so you need to use Mistylaraprincess's carraractors available at Renderosity

DAZ 3D sadly are no longer supporting Carrara

    Thanks for the explanation.

This is the first I have heard that DAZ 3D is no longer supporting Carrara. So this means no new versions or updates leaving it to a slow death?

free g8 blended weight presets here  https://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/?uid=504968

    beta versions.

g8f full body morphs like victoria 8 distort mesh on 3 of her toenail beds.
    7 toes work fine.
    g8m works fine.

lost many a weekend trying to figure out those g8f 3 toenail beds

the last carraraupdate lists general rigging, but it didnt come thru.

if you need help prepping a duf item for carrara, this is a running threadsmiley

For props and sets, the biggest issue is usually that the shaders need to be adjusted.  For the vast majority, just have to adjust once and save the shader preset. After that, have a one-click solution going forward.  On the other hand, for a giant complex set like Jack Tomlin, this one time conversion can be a pain.  But for a lot of typical duf content, it is only what would have to be adjusted anyway (intensity of the bump/normal maps, convert shininess to highlight, that sort of thing).

For content using advanced rigging (beyond genesis 1&2), the issues are more complex.  As Wendy said, there are solutions for Genesis 3&8 figures by Mistylaraprincess at that other site that rhymes with monstrosity.  But as other new figures come out, Daz is not attempting to assure Carrara compatibility as things stand now.

EDIT: note that one of the creative plugin gurus (Philemo) has released a free solution to convert pbr shaders from DUF to Carrara.  The shader issue is less of a problem with that free plugin.  Thanks, Philemo!

Environments in general will load, with the shader caveats mentioned above. One major exception is that instances are not supported. The set will load, but instances will be treated as nulls.

BTW, most of my sets come with Carrara native versions.

Even more frustrating, Daz does not always list Carrara among the compatible software even if the vendor includes Carrara materials.  For example, look at the program list for Kelly Lodge by Faveral (Studio and Poser) then look at the list of materials.  Kelly Lodge includes presets specific to Carrara.

This is a good example of the OP's complaint.
