I assumed when the banner headline says '50% OFF our entire store' that everything in the store would sell for at least 50% of it's normal maximum price
however when I add
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-my-guy-jeans-and-shirt-for-genesis-8-male
https://www.daz3d.com/casual-styles-textures-for-dforce-my-guy-jeans-and-shirt
to my cart there is no 50% discount applied, they are still full price
I reloaded the cart page several times to give it the chance to apply the discounts
I bought the Kaylee Pro bundle yesterday, not that the banner promo says we need to own it
I'm wondering what other hurdle I have not jumped to qualify

New items don’t seem to be discounted.
These are both new items.
The promo says: "DISCOUNT EXCLUDES NEW RELEASES, PC+ ITEMS, MEMBERSHIPS AND GIFT CARDS."
Yeah, those items were released June 14 I think, and they just went off intro pricing. Mid August will be when they are eligible to be included in storewide promotions, and I think it a safe bet that there will be some sort of sale.
Well, "entire store" is not accurate then, is it?
It's like the fine print in some contract that says "We don't actually mean what we said, here is what we really mean".
Probably the Banner should have said '50% OFF SOME items
whatever, I'm sure I will find something else in the store to spend my money on :)
The Large Print Giveth
And the Small Print Taketh Away
But look at bundles - a number are in the 60% or more range off.
The promo in the slide show stated "50% off the ENTIRE store." That should mean EVERYTHING in the store. I think there's a glitch. I have two things in my cart (Penny and Buster), and they're not new items. Maybe "newish," but not new releases. Maybe I'll keep my items in the cart for a while before checking out in case this is a glitch.
Nah, they're just redefining "entire". Thanks, Clinton.
I, for one, was happy to see another sale because there were things I had a current "need" for.
I got Male-M3dia's G8M packsge, perhaps for the HD Anatomical Elements morphs. (Ooops! Did I say that out loud?) Support male content, so on and so forth. Maybe some of you can buy the clothing, though.
I also got something that I probably could have gotten under previous banners (Emma and Jordi's G8F morphing package), but I hadn't seen a need until I started some other work lately.
More Daz marketing games. These games are the reason why I buy very little from Daz any more and do most of my shopping at other stores.
Well, it IS the entire store. All of the artists from the store are included. New items are almost always treated differently.
Yes, Ati, but the front page of the SHOP banner has NO qualifications to it, not even a star (which is a warning that we're not telling you everything here), which would mean to any casual visitor that EVERYTHING is 50% off. Someone could start shopping from that front page, without clicking the banner, expecting to get that 50% off their "entire" purchase, and that would be perfectly reasonable for them to assume. Yes, it says details inside. A buyer would have no reasonable expectation that "entire" doesn't actually mean "the whole thing" which is after all the defination of "entire". I don't post much (obviously), but I am a long time customer, and a platinum clubber, and I've bought quite a bit this year. But, games like this are a turnoff for sure, and lead to mistrust. They're just not a good idea. They can anger customers, and that's counterproductive for everyone. So, I would just hope the copywriters would be more careful. I'm sure it's not an evil intention.
My concern is for DAZ because it could lose sales for them. When it says "entire store," that means "everything." When you see that your cart didn't give you 50% off on the purchases, most people will remove the items from their cart and decide not to buy. That's lost sales, which is unfortunate for both DAZ and the customers.
Just my 2 cents; a banner is just something to catch your attention. the banner says "get details here"
And on the details page it says 50% OFF* - yep the star to go to the execeptions. Nothing new here, And nothing out of the ordinary compared with other online stores that I'm familiair with.
A banner that has ALL the info on it wouldn't be a banner anymore
I saw the banner that said the whole store was on sale (didn't read the fine print), stuck a couple of new releases I wanted in my cart, hit checkout and saw they weren't discounted. My reaction was "Oh, new releases must not count, as usual. oh well, what else do I want?" Anyone that's been through more than one or two sales here should know by now that new releases never count for storewide sales.
My last post, don't want to seem to be hogging things.
If we want to see a nation full of scheming business people (not saying that DAZ is intentionally scheming here, just that there are SO many), we should just all shut up when things are advertised that are not correct, and assume that everyone is lying in some way. That's not what I want, even if we're close to that, already. If no one speaks up about apparent deception, then companies will assume it's perfectly OK and everyone will do it.
I'm sure that DAZ doesn't intend that, it's just sloppy, and as I and others say, and as people are interpreting the bald statement, it makes people mad. So, the reason I commented is for their own good. EVERYONE appreciates it when people say what they mean. "Details here" can't be a cover to contradict what is plainly said in a sales banner. Entire means ENTIRE.
"Naive" is a slur to honest.
Its unfair to pas to put their new items at 50 percent, and unfair to those who just bought them. There will be a lot of returns otherwise as people take stuff back to get the price reduction. Its a mistake but, its corrected in the copy.
And actually, the first time I saw the banner I thought the ‘details here’ was about the ‘more great holiday deals’ and I was disappointed by THAT too since there’s not really much to speak of there.
I wouldn't want to buy an artist, not even at 50% off... :D
Most people who have been here longer than a few months, know that these sales always exclude new items to be fair with everyone who bought those items on day 1.
The thing that bothers me is that it's not clear if it's one day only, I have better things to do on July 4 than online shop...
me too... dishes, laundry, mow the lawn, clean the house. bed
Misleading headline aside, I thought this was a great sale for clearing out some older stubborn items from one's wishlist.
There are some PA's who never seem to go on sale, so I was delighted when I found that the 50% discount applied to them. This was a very handy type of sale for me, anyway.
Well since a couple of items on my wish list JUST managed to qualify, I'm not complaining. As the saying goes: There will always be another sale! Count on it.

Using "Many items in the sale" instead of "Entire shop on sale" would be a proper non-marketing way of staying with the truth. To be honest, always expecting that the marketing talk is in reality some kind of hype has been with me for about twenty years already. So even though I'm a bit buggered by stuff like this - marketing hype - I got used to it. Doesn't build trust in the companies thinking they need to use it, though..
It is hard to build any trust in a company that plays games with their marketing.
I've been here actively for four years, and Daz DOES NOT screw their customers. They will bend over backwards to make something good for you if your claim is even halfway legitimate. "Entire Store 50% Off" has NEVER meant "including New items" (or PC+ or Gift Cards) unless it was explicitly stated. No asterisk was needed because everyone who shops here frequently knows this. Of course, if you're relatively new to this, then there are several practices that might be odd to you, but the wording of the banner is not an innovation or an attempt at deception by any means, unless you just don't know any better (which is my point).
For the whole store to be on sale it requires that every vendor agrees on putting their store on sale. What if some don't?
