(Bunches of post-render stuff in GIMP. I've been experimenting with the paint effects because of the Battletech PC game...)

Nice render. He looks very Sami, OK well he reminds me of a Sami.

    Thanks!

He wasn't intended as Sami. I just liked the outfit (Southern Noble, in the Edward 8 bundle).
The colors do make me think of Finland, though.

Can you tell me what hair is used in the Floyd Promos? The same as for Percy HD for Floyd 8 . I can't find it...

Is it the bald/combover? That comes as an option in https://www.daz3d.com/vintage-male-hair-for-genesis-3-and-8-males which is also in the pro bundle.

    Thank you!!!

    Motor scooter grandpa....

Kind of reminds me of the actor who was on Law and Order and played the lawyer, Sam Waterston.

That is just too cute!  heart

4 bundles to get the discount banner, eh?  Oh well, there's always another sale.

Percy, dialed to about 50%, with a touch of George 8 tossed in.

I used Floyd in a couple renders recently, too. In the portrait image, I ported Ivan 7 to G8M and used 100% Floyd HD Head and 100% Ivan 7 Head. The result reminds me a lot of my step father, although it is far from an accurate likeness. In the gardening image, I used Old Chap skin and a Genesis 3 Female outfit. I didn't like the look of the overalls released with Floyd, so I didn't buy them. I added A Touch of Dirt to the overalls and boots to grunge them up a little.

    "Who you callin' 'limber', sonny?"

I've gotta say, as brilliant as Floyd is, he's the kind of character I'd mostly use in really specific circumstances.  A new version of Scott 6 would probably have been more my speed.  Still, brilliantly detailed character!

Heh — all he needs is a long white beard and an eyepatch, and I'd say that was the spitting (kicking, headbutting, kneeing, etc.) image of Cohen the Barbarian as seen in the early Discworld books.

Great new male pro pack, thanks DAZ!

I guess you have to be into the superhero thing to like Scott.  Only reason I got the Scott Pro Bundle was because I had everything else and he was free, so I got him.  That was a couple months ago and I haven't even downloaded him. Same with some kids Tween somethings girl and boy.  Hadn't downloaded them either, but hey, they were free.

As he is, I'd also need special circumstances to use Floyd but  Floyd (and Ollie) can be morphed and mixed with other guys to make entirely new characters.

Hah!  You know, I was thinking the same thing when I was setting the shot up...

"I said: What is it that a man may call the greatest things in life?"

The warriors leaned closer.  This should be worth hearing.

The guest thought long and hard and then said with deliberation: "Hot water, good dentishtry, and shoft lavatory paper."

I'm officially a senior citizen. I'd like to make my art reflect my age. That means many senior citizen characters. This hasn't been easy in the past. I really appreciate characters like Floyd and Ollie. I'm happy to see so many supporting products like Good Guys.

I still need to evaluate the projected benefits of the various options. The Pro bundles often offer a lot. The question is whether I'd use everything in the pro pack. Another concern is whether there are individual wardrobes for a cast of characters. I don't want all the men wearing the same shirts or coveralls. I want my characters to have a nice wardrobe consisting of shorts, jeans, button-down shirts, t-shirts, etc.

Then, when all is said and done, I need to see if my 27 " iMac can handle the scenes I wish to create.

I'm with you Ron.  I'd like to see ppl that reflect my age too.  I like all the new ones...Ollie, Edie and Floyd.  They're so versatile.

Do you still have your website?  I used to go there ALL the time.

sapat, thank you for your understanding and support. I gave up my web site and domain a few years ago. I felt lonely because I wasn't active in the forums at the time. I'm thinking of starting a new web site, but it would need to have a new domain name. Some guy bought my old one and wants to sell it to make a profit.

I just joined the PC Club and got a great price on the Floyd Pro bundle. I have to do some disc shuffling before I can start making art again. I'm not sure whether my DAZ3D hard drive died. I do have a backup disc.

I run an iMac and have managed some fairly complex scenes on it. Not touched Iray yet, though.

  • Ron KnightsRon Knights Posts: 2,071

    I want to run iRay.

I apologize for distracting from this thread. It was a spur of the moment thing. Right after I posted here, I went and bought the Floyd Pro bundle. I can try to steer my part of the conversation over to the other thread.

What a fantastic piece of work.  Not just the merging of the characters, but also the expression.  This is a really impressive character portrait.

This is such a versatile base and the add-on characters are great as well.  Here's the Monty character and skin with a few extra morphs and a pass through Altern8.

Reminds me allot of an older Burt Reynolds!

Yeah, I don't want to go O.T. either, but I would love to see you have another site.  I was like a superfan of you and your content.

sapat, it's funny, I just never got a lot of feedback. Maybe that's because I wasn't in the forums for almost 20 years. That is a long story best forgotten. A year or two ago, I got re-admitted into the DAZ forum. Now I feel a part of the artistic community again.

I got into doing genealogy, tracing my family history. Ancestry's servers were down, and I got bored. I decided to check out DAZ again. I saw Floyd, and realized I finally had the old guy character I'd been looking for. If I put up a new web site, it will likely deal with DAZ Art and Genealogy!

Well, I'm glad I 'ran' into you again.  I too do a lot of geneaology and have been at it for about 20 years.  Dead ended on a few folks, but it's fun to find new ones and new branches.  I used to have my own domain and had a lot of my family history info and pics on there, but I found ppl were stealing my images and posting them on Ancestry and other places.  So I removed everything and dumped the site.  All my work and ppl just steal it.  They don't care.  So yeah, I'd be happy if you had a combined site.  I'd be visiting again!

I've been working, seriously on my genealogy for a few months. I use Family Tree Maker (FTM) 2017 for the Mac. FTM allows me to save all my info to my computer, and generally makes all my work easier. My trees are public. My documents come from the Ancestry hints. I'm not worried about anyone seeing or using them.

Oh, now I'm fiddling with Floyd 8 and having a bunch of problems.

Thank you very much, Dim Reaper. I was very pleased with the result, in large part because of the resemblance to my step father. He pased away several years ago, so it was kind of nostalgic for me to see him appear in my Daz viewport unexpectedly. I created that expression with Expression Mixer. It is very handy for generating unique expressions. You can randomize repeatedly until you see something you like.

Here finally is my first test render on my new Windows computer with NVIDIA. This would have taken at least 10 hours on my other CPU computers but took me only 10 minutes for a larger version of this.

Just Floyd out of the box with a combo of added expressions. He definitely looks like Walter Mathau!

I like that his cane doesn't slow him down! Still livin' life to the max!

Thank you! I'm glad it looks joyful... if there's something I like to aim for in my images, it's a sense of joy.
(Silver already had the idea with the Party Monster outfit, but since I don't have the outfit, I made my own party for Floyd. (G3M Attitude shirt, G8M Cool Style Pants & Necklace, a couple primitive toroids for glow stick bracelets))

I'm impressed by Floyd and I wasn't sure I'd like him at all. The face holds expressions well, the skin details are great. Even after running him through a proces in GIMP, he still looks good and you get a sense of the detail work in the underlying figure.

I am somewhat looking forward to a possible older Genesis 8 female base model now... I'm not sure I would have said that prior to messing around with Floyd.

We have Edie and her add ons Dorothea and Grandmother. We have Alexandra for middle age. There is already a lot that can be done with them. Here is a gallery link to my image of Dorothea/Grandmother having fun like your Floyd.
