    Is it back up?

Yes, it is back up.  Sorry for the late reply.

The weather report says that rain will fall for the next four days.  It has already rain for two days in a row.

We had two days of rain and the occasional monthly shower so far this year, Olive tree is producing fruit the size of peas and our front garden has turned to dust going to have to dig some organic compost into it before spring. That is my long complaint. Short complaint: stuck in a freezing theatrette for five hours today, body and mind is numb :)

Has anyone else been affected by Time Warner(Spectrum)'s upgrade? So far the good outweighs the bad but I'm not sure how to feel.

Bad - Have to use a cable box to watch TV now. There's still no competitor to Spectrum in my city.

Good - Internet was upgraded from 30 to 100 mb/s, no price increase so far. Cable box has DVR and on demand streaming.

I guess the cable boxes enable them to encrypt their signal to prevent piracy. It's just that when a company starts handing out lots of free stuff, I feel like a lamb being fattened up before the slaughter. Also, I don't really watch TV, the cable is included with my condo fees so I pay whether I want to or not.

Complaint:  Tomorrow starts credit card crunch time.  I just got an insurance denial for dental services last month no, and from now until  the end of the month I have two doctors appointments(GP and Cardiologist), a dentist bill coming due and another dentist appointment to replace a loose filling.frown   And it's a 5 week month (i.e. 5 weeks between Social Security deposits on the 3rd Wednesday of the month) instead of 4.  Stretching my weekly budget over an extra week, means no mini-adventures during this period. sad

Non-Complaint:  Ah, but the next two periods after that (June & July) are 4 week months and are during the height of the Chautauqua season, so a couple concerts there will have to be my mid-summer mini-adventures. yes

Some people seem to think that if I am on a computer I must be doing nothing.  That annoys me so much.

    What is Chautaugua season?

"qua"...  "Q" not "G"... "Chau-tau-qua"; pronounced [Shaw-TAW-kwah]    Chautauqua Institution is a 144 year old non-profit education center and summer resort.  It is a village on the western shore of Lake Chautauqua in the Town of Chautauqua in Chautauqua County, New York.  For nine weeks in the summer the institution hosts famous lecturers, prominent musicians, artists, actors, journalists, and educators to exchange knowlege amongst themselves and with the attending public.  The campus grounds is a well kept Victorian style village that also contains an opera house, a 5000 seat open-air covered amphitheater, several lecture halls, a couple of stage theaters, a bookstore, a long village park & fountain, several demoninations of churches, boating facilities, a musical bell tower, a bookstore dedicated to the arts, several restaurants, a large Victorian style hotel (it's the largest wooden building in the eastern US), many large but appropriately styled buildings of short-term rental apartments, and almost all the old houses in the village are Bed & Breakfast lodging usually rented by the week.  Motor vehicles are restricted to certain streets.  Most people either walk or ride bicycle around the hills of the village.

The "Chautauqua season" is the 9 weeks in the summer when admission is by gate pass ($84/day, or residence) only.  At other times of the year entry is permitted without charge but the village is comparatively empty then.

This link http://chq.org/season points to information about the current 2018 summer season.  It is one of the most confusing web calenders I think I've ever encountered, but it does work if you're patient.   Click the link then mouse over the tab "2018 Season" then select "Monthy Calendar of Events".  You can limit what's shown on the calendar by typing things like "symphony" or "opera" or "lecture" into the "Search Events" field.  A lot happens on each day so it takes some time to weed out what you're interested in.  Symphonies in the amphitheater are usually on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday evenings at 8:15PM

I love going to symphonies so when I say the "Chautauqua season" I mean specifically the list of the summer's symphony performances, but there's a lot more going on than just symphonies.  Many people live on the grounds for a week at a time because each week has a different theme.  But living on the grounds more than a few days can get very expensive.  Fortunately, it's only a 24 mile drive for me.  Gate pass entry price for an evening performance is only $45 or sometimes just $25, but even coupled with a $9 parking charge the cost is still relatively cheap for an evening at the symphony, a relaxing walk through a different era, and an ice cream sundae in the park.  By comparison, it costs me about $120 to attend a symphony in Buffalo (70 miles) when I factor in parking, gasoline, food & drink and the panic attack caused by driving on Buffalo's freeways & city streets.

I've talked about Chautauqua several times in this forum already in the last couple weeks so I'll try not to repeat too much more here.

This link shows lots of photos of the Chautauqua grounds. https://www.google.com/search?q=images+chautauqua+institution&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj3oszPko7bAhWlrFkKHTgbDboQsAQIUg

Here's the Wikipedia article about "Chautauqua Institution" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chautauqua_Institution.

Map below shows the extent and close nature of the institute. (Note: The blue areas in the center are where most of the performance venues are located)

This link: http://www.post-gazette.com/ae/music/2017/01/17/Chautauqua-Institution-Symphony-Orchestra-musicians-agree-to-a-new-contract-four-years-pay-increases-strike/stories/201701170117 shows an aerial photo of the south end of Chautauqua Institution looking west. The large white roofed object in the center is the old amphitheater, that was completely replaced with a brand new but very similar, although slightly larger and considerably better, version in 2017.  Many people listen to the symphonies in the open-air amphitheater simply by sitting on the porches of the houses in the surrounding streets.  The large black roofed object at 7:00 relative to the amphitheater is the Athenaeum Hotel (click on the little camera icon in the lower right corner for a better photo)

I hate it when I try to get comfy in a public setting and cannot.  For example this morning I sat down and got my computer out to write.  I got everything set up with my half full cup of ice coffee next to me.  At that exact moment, my bladder decided to complain that it needs attention right away.  I was (and am) in a food court.  I cannot leave my computer and stuff when I go visit the lady's room, so I had to quickly pack everything up and run to the nearest lady's room without either spilling the coffee or droping an electronic like my computer or iPad, or spilling my coffee onto my electronic device.   I made it in time but it was stressful.

that is stressful.  lucky there was no queue for the ladies.  thats the worst.  some medications have diuretic side effects.

i've resisted medications my whole life, complaint - now 'm on 2 forever pills.  had no choice tho, sugar was in 600s, after they explained how bad that was, had to cave. my kidneys still good, started in time.

going to carotid test  today. it shouldnt hurt.

Is it true that Arizona heat is different from NC heat?  NC is humid and hot, but Arizona is hot with no humidity?  Is it true Wisconsin does not have the humidity nor the heat?  I never lived there long but cannot remember a thing. I think Washington (state) is cold and humid!

What does humidity and cold do when they combine?  I know heat and humidity makes it feel hotter.
