Gen3 for Gen8 - Sale vs. Selfmade?

Hi Everyone,

there are more last-gen characters for Genesis 8 on offer now, like Olympia 7. O7 is one of my favourite DAZ characters - and that is why I did my own gen8-version using the tutorials provided by Redz and Sickleyield. Is there a noticeable difference between that and the store-bought O7 for O8? I hesitate to spend money on something I already have.

    I think it's a matter of convenience. I followed the first conversion tutorials, which were good, but I kept getting duplicate errors. I need to find time to go back through the newer conversion tutorial and convert my figures again. It is nice to just have the converted figure, but learning how is a useful skill since there are so many great ones that probably won't have conversions in the store. I know I'm not the only one wishing there was a GenX2 addon for G8.

    If you got it before he pulled it, Singular Blues excellent script to convert G3 morphs to G8 provides a lot of the same functionality.

    Same situation as previously with Legacy Shape products vs GenX2

    Some people prefer to pay, others prefer to do it by themselves.

    Genesis 3 got 31 adult human figures, you're free to convert them all if you want, now the only question is do you really want to use your time for this task ?

    $24.95 apiece is $773.45 to rebuy all those figures. At 30% off for PC it's $541.42. At 51% off it's only $378.99. And all of them so far you also need to buy their corresponding new base figure, so at $44.95 apiece that's an additional $1393.45 with no discount...you can continue doing the math from here yourself but if you already own the G7 versions, it's a little pricy just to get them to G8.

    Yes, I'm sure the price will eventually drop enough to be worth it (most things do after all).

    I’ve only bought Michael 7. I can mix his genetics with other males.  I don’t have interest in any of the other characters.

    I forget that this is a marketplace and not an actual artist community where the goal is being creative, LOL. I miss the days when your rendered image protrayed the amount of work and creativeness you put into it as opposed to how much money you put into it, LOL

    The new consumers may want to get only the figures for Genesis 8 instead of purchasing the old Genesis 3 figures.

    I think it's worth noting that the products @NoahLGP listed here are from Sloshwerks, not Daz, whereas the "Gen3 for Gen8" products are Daz Originals, (buy outs from another vendor, other than Slosh.)

    I suspect Gravity Studios submitted the products for approval and Daz liked the potential enough to buy them outright, though that is just a guess.
