Question regarding dForce

Is it possible to afix a point of a dForce item so that it hangs from that point?

I want to make a super cape.

  • I've done this to make curtains.

Using the Geometry Editor, you would select a groups of polygons in the object and assign them to a new surface, and set the dynamics strength of that surface to 0. These will be the anchor points from which the dynamic surface (cape) will hang.

Can those points then be parented to a location?

One of my favorite features in dForce is the ability to Create -> New dForce Modifier Weight Node, and then Add a new Influence Weights map. From a post I made when dForce first came out:

It can be useful to think of painting influence weights (including soft selections) as "pinning". The possibilities extend even further when you think about the fact that "pinning" soft selections of geometry can:

    1. keep the "pinned" verts from moving at all

    2. cause the "pinned" verts to follow an object/bone and all of its animatable transforms (when the simmed object is parented)

    3. cause the "pinned" verts to follow the position as detemined by conforming (when the simmed object is a piece of conforming clothing that is fit to a figure)

    Awesome!
