One of my "go to" hair styles for the males is Timeless Hair by goldtassel. It's such a lovely hair prop. Even untextured it looks really natural. I'd LOVE to see this updated with new colors and fits for Genesis 3 and 8 males with proper iRAY materials too. If someone knows goldtassel, please tap them on the shoulder and maybe something great will happen! I'd buy it all over again I love it so much!

Yeah I have the M4 version, very nice. Shouldn't be too hard though to just parent it to G3/8 and scale/transform/apply smoothing modifier to make it fit?
Can do that easily enough but I want an update that will have it auto conform and the iRAY settings to be to goldtassle's liking. I make stuff all the time but I like it when artists revisit older products and give it new life. Folks that were not on board back when M4 and Genesis 01 (I have both versions) would love this hairstyle for Genesis 3 and 8! I think so anyways! lol
Agreed, nothing wrong with new shaders or upgrades:)
:-)
You can autofit either the M4 or Genesis version to Genesis 3 or 8. Tight fitting hairs like Timeless autofit very well, it is just the longer hairs where things can get screwed up. Autofit preserves all the morphs.
Then apply any Iray hair shaders you want. Shown is G3M with Timeless and the OOT2 hair shaders
Sorry but, as a dedicated 3DL user, I have to ask, does the OOT2 replace the original opacity maps and/or specular maps? It looks kind of...lifeless if you know what I mean. Maybe it's just the lightning? In the original promo the character looks rather... ahem... plastic but the hair looks good IMO;)
I did not spend any time on the lighting, it is just the default HDR, so naturally it could be made to look better. The OOT shaders change the main diffuse maps, but not the opacity ones. I will have to check regarding bump, specular etc, but they can be tweaked. Naturally I could have left the original maps on, and converted the shaders to Iray, and tweaked from there, but the majority of hair maps on older hair models have "burned in" highlighting and will make the hair "shine" in the same way regardless of how the scene is lit.
Ok thanks! Ya it's hard to cope with those burned in highlights, in 3Dl I often delete them and use the bump or opacity maps as diffusemaps and with some luck I can get pretty descent looking hair;)
