Morning. Stuck in the middle of crosstown gridlock complaint, nothing moving in any direction especially West, where I was sposed to be a half hour ago and in the centre of the worst cellphone reception in town *sigh*

That;s about as complaint-worthy as they come! :-|

You need to commute via helicopter.

Didn’t know at the time a huge truck bought down tramlines,  part of a freeway bridge and cellphone towers  a few hundred metres away, the worst part was time travelling back to the 20th century due to phone network outages :)

Wasn't sure what it was, cats were terrified,  I was sure the house had shaken, so wasn't too happy myself. checked all round in and out, couldn't see anything. Saturday afternoon, so neightbours mostly out and about and  I just never thought to chack the news until a wee while ago.  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-43097113

I found a shirt I want on Amazon but it cost about 23 dollars.  Is that normal for a TShirt these days?

Looking through ads around here, that seems about right.  I think it's outrageous!  But then, when I was a kid, we called jeans dungarees...and they were for kicking around in the dirt, rought play.  They weren't a fashion statement.  And they weren't expensive...and they lasted longer!

    Dana

I buy my t-shirts online from a place called ' 6 Dollar T Shirts', they last about 2 years.  Lots of interesting art and smarmy sayings, too!!

My jeans cost me $30 on Amazon. :-/

when i was living in San Antonio, 2 nuns came over to visit, cant remember why, anyhow, i offered them tea, they insisted on sharing 1 tea bag

One bag pretty easily makes 2 cups of tea.  I can get 3 cups of coffee out of a Keurig pod by using the 'strong' setting on the 2nd and 3rd cup, it brews slower.

Amazing how you can make stuff last.  Even my Mom re-used tea bags!  Go Mom!!!

I tried the newest Firefox and it's... ok.  Chrome still has better accessibility options, while FF will follow most of Windows high-contrast settings it doesn't properly over-ride font colors so, while Windows gives me an easily readable white-on-black, for no know reason FF gives me an unreadable purple-on-black.  Worthless P.O.S., glad it works for somebody.

Now I understand why people with vision issues bitch endlessly about software, despite the tons of support in Windows for sight assistance almost nobody uses it properly.  GO GOOGLE! AND MICROSOFT!

If I ever code again it's going to be working on adding accessibility features to software.. U should be able to use OS-supplied accessibility features in any app.  Some apps still won't render large fonts without producing a trashed output, honestly, lots of older folks use larger screen fonts and Americans are getting older.

Rant over. :-/ Gradma, get me another beer or bring me my scooter!!! :-p

TheMSspeech API is very good as well, used it a lot over the years :)

When I was working for Danger Inc. and Palm, human factors were always high priority.  Many men are colorblind in the red/black spectrum so you have to be careful about colors.  Also some icons are conssidered evil in certain ciltures, a disembodied hand is bad in some Middle Eastern countries.  So no wonder some software is a major flop in some countries, America is far from the whole world, and less every day. It's sad but it is what it is.

Screw it, I think I'll have another beer and rain nuclear death down on my foes! NUKE 'EM TILL THEY GLOW AND SHOOT 'EM IN THE DARK!!!!!

Note: I'm normally very peaceful but Total Annihilation turns me into the bloodthirsty killer serpent that hides inside, hehehehehehhehheh!!!

..the Shadowrun RPG kind of does that to me.  I have fun when Leela starts laying down suppression fire (with APDS ammo) and giggles as she does it.

She now has an LMG which has a 100 round belt and knows how to use it.

I know there's a song called 'Girls with guns'... hang on...

..there's also one titled Cows With Guns.

    Moooooooooooooo BANG BANG BANG!!!! :-o

Wheeeeee! Down to my last six beers, just ordered two large 2-topping pizzas and an order of cajun spiced fries, under $25 which leaves me enough grocery money for a week or so.  Well, once the weather cleas up...

Supposed to rain all of next week right into the weekend, at least they say that for now.  It changes every day so there's no point in trying to believe an forecast more than one day ahead. :-|

Soon as it clears it's another long, painful walk to the store and a bus ride home.  Need refried beans, corn and flour tortillas, wings, wing sauce, hot dogs, and maybe some salsa and more soup.  Ig I have money I'll get instant coffee and powdered creamer as well.

62f outside, overcast and damp.  This morning they said rain starting tomorrow, now rain won't start until Tuesday.  No wonder nobody trusts the predictions.. :-|

Will break out the beer when pizza arrives.  Woo-hoo! :-)

...40° here with water from the sky, both the of the liquid and frozen variety depending on elevation.  Down to 26° tonight 22° tomorrow night (but fortunately no precipitation...yet in the forecast).  Next weekend looks rough, could be frozen water of the very slick instead of fluffy white variety from the sky.

Went out for a bit last night, woke up with a scratchy slightly sore throat this morning. Time for a steaming bowl of chicken soup and a grilled cheezy. then Theraflu tonight before bed.

Blech, stay warm and safe!  I hope you don't get sick and/or get well ASAP.

I only paid $25 for my fancy Hawaiian print shirt.  That seems awful high for s t-shirt unless it's a super fancy one. :-/

...when I got most of mine they were only 4$ - 6$ at thrift stores (for authentic ones from the islands, not OP knock offs or made in Bangladesh). Then they became overly popular and prices even for second hand ones became ridiculous.

It can get bad.  I have a silk black shirt with flames coming up it, set me back $50 six months ago, now selling for $75. WTF? It's stupid...

Warm and damp outside, weather lies today say rain all week now.  I think I could do better by throwing runes!  No idea when I'll get to grocery shop now. :-(

Brekkie was hot tea and COLD PIZZA!!!! Sooo good, salami and red onion on a barbeque pizza sauce with crispy herbed crust, no way I could have made this for eight bucks.  My other pizza is pepperoni and roast spinach on a garlic alfredo pizza sauce with a buttery garlic crust, sooo goood.

Now if only I can find a way to the grocery store before I run out of food.  I have a lot of hot dogs, 4 cans of sardines, about 12 noodle soups and six 2-slice meals of pizza.  We'll see what happens...

Rain and temps in the low 40sF today.  Expecting 50s & 60s over the week.  I get my SS check on Wednesday so I'm thinking of taking advantage of the good weather and planning a big mini-adventure of driving to Erie, PA for an Outback Steakhouse adventure.  Mmmm, non-avian, non-fish protein!  Mmmm, red meat!  Unfortunately driving Erie's franchise row (Peach St.) during mid-week is like trying to swim in mollases.  One of the worst city planning jobs I've ever experienced.  I usually go on Sunday but weather may be back to "normal" by then.

Complaint:  I need to buy a new battery for a laptop.  The original HP battery from HP is over $100.  New remakes of the proper battery run $90-$100. frown Less expensive ones ($35-$50) come from never-heard-of companies but are handled by NewEgg or Amazon and have 1-year warrantees and 30-day moneyback guarantees. indecision And the cheap ones ($15-$25) practically have warning signs on them saying "Light fuse, run away." no I go through this angst everytime I need to buy a battery for myself.  But this one I have to buy for a customer.  I don't want to get in trouble if something goes wrong.  I'll probably get one of the momma bear ones but why isn't there a web site out there that ranks the battery manufacturers on reliability or fire record? enlightened

I've only had to buy a new laptop battery once and it was a pain!  Fortunately it was a Dell laptop and there's a factory certified Dell remanufacturing stone on the bus line, so I got away for $40 and it's done very well.

Weather is looking nice today, maybe low 70fs and some sun.  Clear and sunny right now, so grocery trip is extremely likely.  There was a rumor of a chance of a ride to the store but the source is unreliable and the person involved is flakey as a bowl of granola, so I'm planning on a walk.  This time may walk the short uphill to the bus stop and get a day pass, the short uphill may be less damaging than the longer, gentle slope long path.

Time to bolt on the prosthesis and prepare myself, get the aspirin ready and one last cup of hot tea. At least there's a nice breeze and I can wear my straw hat! :-)

Non-complaint: Warming trend here, daffodils in full bloom, spotted first robin yesterday, fingers crossed for early spring. smiley

  • High today 74F, tomorrow 76F; rest of the week highs are in the 50s-60s. Plus rain through Saturday. Weather here is chaotic evil alignment.

Yesterdays forecast: 68f and rain.  This mornings forecast: 74f and sun.  Current forecast: 76f and late thunderstorms.  Actual weather: sunny and 78f.

    Chaotic evil, for sure. :-|

Back from a very successful grocery trip, with money left over.  Cicken drumsticks were on sale for $0.99 a pound, got a 5lb value pack for less than four bucks!  BBQ sauce on sale for a buck a bottle, 50 corn tortillas for $1.48, big jar of instant coffee and a big container of powered creamer $4.00 for both.. hot dogs on sale for $0.79.. damn! Loaded up 2 large reusable bags for $21!!! Will happily feed for well over a week now. :-)

Of course, no such thing as an unmixed blessing in the material world. I wore my straw hat to keep the Sun off me, but a HUGE gust of wind hit me 1/2 way to the store in an open area between buildings and WOOOOOOSH hat blew into the nearby road and had a few rough encounters with traffic.. mourned for a bit.. moved on.  Heavy bags on the way home made walking with a cane in one hand... problematic, to say the least.

Mde it home intact and in modest muscle pain, aspirin now taking effect and fiinishing my last 3 cans of beer.  It's predicted to rain all week, but we'll see, so far the weather is batting 100% wrong on forecasts forther out than abouy 12 hours!!! :-|

I watch the Fox 25 Boston news and weather.  The chief meteorologist is Kevin LeManowicz.  He's more accurate than the Weather Channel.  He does a 7-day forecast.  He always says that 6 or 7 days out is tough, because usually the storm isn't even formed yet, so the forecast will be more accurate 3 or 4 days out.  And he's usually spot on.  It helps when the meteorologist is local.  they have the knowledge and experience of the location, which helps in their accuracy.

Diane does that.  She waters down everything she drinks!  I can't stand it.  I like robust flavors.  I don't have tea often, but when I do, I dunk the teabag a lot, then I squeeze it out against the teaspoon.
