I don't use 3Delight much either, just did some tests a while ago and it turned out Iray was much faster on my system. Since most DAZ hair are just transmapped surfaces I wouldn't expect too much trouble converting them. I also found this quick tip it may be a good start.
If you can make universal Iray hair textures that work on almost any hair, which there are several examples of, the same should be possible with 3DL I believe.

I don't render in 3DL but maybe try applying a 3DL shader to the hair and see how that looks? :)
