Are there any morphs for the mattress? If not, does it have enough resolution to use dForms to dent it where the weight is falling?
There are morphs on the pillows for compression, but they are the only morphs. The mattress doesn't have enough resolution to compress at base rez, but it is quads and it is Sub'd capable.
Thanks.
I will post the other one when I get home from work lol.
Come on people, I want to see your renders too lol! A whole new, wide world has opened up. Also, a heads up, Sickleyield has poses and morphs presets for this on her ShareCG Account for free. So if you bought the bed, go on over and grab those as well.
Oh, cool. I was wondering when those would be released. I had no idea she was giving them away. For those who haven't purchased The Bed yet, Sy contributed some morphs for both the duvet and the pillows, (though they aren't in the same place as the morphs KA included, unless that was .changed in the released version..?)
Hey, KA, I just noticed the product page doesn't mention the morphs!
It is different in the release version, they should all be in the same place now. The morphs SY did were included to complement her pose set.
Can the blanket and pillows be used on any bed?
This is one of the medieval beds, can't think of which one at the moment since I think I have them all lol. She is laying sideways across the bed and I turned the blanket around to match her instead of the bed. Worked perfectly.
In Step #3, I have no idea what any of that means, where the root folder is so I can double click the "disable memorized pose" button. What is strange, I trtied it without double clicking that button and the thing worked, but now it won't. Other than me not being able to figure out where the root folder is, this is a great product and very easy to use (at least the first time).
The "duvet" is a separate prop, and can be used anywhere. The pillows are part of the mattress, and do not load separately. However, the mattress can be hidden via the surfaces tab, if you want to use just the pillows. It is low-poly, so it won't add much to your render times. I haven't tried it on any other beds, but I don't see why you couldn't substiture the UDB mattress for the mattress that loads with other bed products. It might not fit exactly, but you can hide that with your camera angle.
(In Morning's Light, on page one of this thread, I needed to move the figure after changing her arm pose where her hand holds onto the bedframe. But I had already simmed the duvet many times, and had it where I really liked it. I didn't want to take a chance simming again would change how it draped in her lap, so I just moved the frame. The tell-tale signs are out of frame, so it looks fine.)
I don't have the release version yet, so I'm going to make an educated guess: If you go to the Content Library, (instead of Smart Content,) you should find this in Props->KindredArts->Ultimate dForce Bed, where Props is found in your default library, probably named My Daz3d Image Library. This Ultimate dForce Bed folder would be the "root" of the product.
I have no idea where it would be under Smart Content.
When you've been simulating something and it suddenly stops simulating, that's Daz Studio, not The Bed product. And it's a total pain. Sometimes all you need to do is save your scene, close DS, reopen DS, and reload your scene to get it working again. And here's a more detailed tip that might work if rebooting DS doesn't.
Thanks, L'Adair. Is my face red! It worked the first time because I never bothered to read the PDF file and clicked on the right buttons, once I read the PDF file I got confused and thought the root file was somewhere else. Mainly because I couldn't read the darn info under the pictures, I just saw the Enable This First! and did at the first try, then I just skipped over that step for the next attempt. I've learned something new today ;-) Anyway, this product is so very easy to use and works beauitfully. Thank you, KA, for making such an amazing, and fun, product.
I decided to test The Bed with another product frame. For some reason, I choose the MICK bed, which lookes really nice, but it's a one piece prop, with multiple material zones, some of which I had to divide using the Geometry Editor Tool. But I'm persistent, (go ahead and read that "stubborn," if you like,) so I made it work. Sort of. Below is the completed bed using the Mattress and pillows from UDB, as well as the duvet. I pulled materials from the curtains for the sheet, pillows and duvet. (I'm thinking I should have also used the red on the underside of the Duvet, but this is just for a test, right?) Lighting is one of the iRadiance Light Probes, Draw Dome on, Draw Ground off.
It looks like I should have had the bottom curtains in place, as the duvet and curtains intersect. If this was more than a quick test, I'd fix that, but I didn't notice it until I had created all my images.
Attached are viewport screenshots: !) the MICK Bed and UDB Mattress loaded—90-degrees off from the MICK bed. 2) The mattress rotated, translated, and scaled to fit the platform. 3) All the parts of the bed I don't want to deal with turned off either in the Surfaces->Editor, or using the Geometry Editor to hide polys within a material zone. 4) The setup with the Duvet. 5) The Duvet after the sim.
I did scale the Duvet to be larger. The MICK bed is both shorter and wider than the UDB Mattress, and after scaled to fit, the pillows still look fine.
I probably should have chosen one of the Deco beds! Maybe next time.
You're welcome. And please don't be embarrassed. We've all had days like that! I'm just glad you got it all figured out.
:) I didn't know how to activate it or where the simulate button was, was looking for thinking it was something else then located it in the windows pane section simulation
Wow this bed is amazing to say the least KA!!!
I have it in my favs for now till my piggy bank grows up some!!!
@Wonderland i think L'Adair got to your question above, but i'll reiterate - The bed comes in three main sections, Frame, Mattress & Pillows, Duvet. The duvet can be used anywhere, but the mattress & pillows stay together. The frames can be used with other mattresses/pillows but it might take a bit of scaling to make it fit.
@spuffy Sorry i didn't get to you sooner, it was pretty late here when you posted. You should be able to just click simulate as soon as a prefab is in the scene. Disabling memorized pose just stops any characters going back to T pose.
@saphirewild Thanks saphire, i think everyone's piggy bank still needs refreshing from christmas.

For folks who have not used dForce yet, this is the product for you. As shown in the promos, it really is a click and watch the duvet gently float down and morph onto the bed with gorgeous wrinkles. REALLY.
100% agree. I love playing with this product :-)
The trouble with this product is that you made it so dang easy. I just tried to make it harder ;-)
NVIABWAD - Naked Vickey, in a bed, with a duvet.
Or... Naked Vickey, in a bed, with a frog.
Wow AngelReaper I woudl have never thought that Vicky's lover would turn to be such a Frog!!
Well, I never used DForce before. And when I dropped the blanket....Dang, it looks like a pillow for an elephant!...it completely covered my model's head. So then I reset and adjusted things from different views and I ended up with this....
I wish I had some textures for the cat, but I guess they are sold separately. I'll pick them up some time and then re-render.
that's the thing when you go home with someone after a night out drinking you never know who you'll end up waking next to
still looks good and some white cats do look like that
Well, to paraphrase Mickey Gilley... The frogs all get prettier at closing time...
Hey guys! Thank you for all your renders, i didn't think i'd be seeing quite as many frogs and cats, but i'm happy they're here. No-one appears to be stuck yet either (apart from @spuffy shenanigans
), so i can put my toolbox away for the time being, yay!
Just a side note before i go - Please remember the inflation morphs on the duvet to combat poke-through. You don't have to keep re-simming to get the result you want, just inflate.
