Pictures In Forums

I want to ask something else really, but it contains pictures, and I just can't see how to import pictures into the thread without them being huge!!

Have I got to put it in Photoshop and resize it, or is there a simpler way

Cheers

Gray

Thanks for the pointer sriesch, but that is way too complicated, just to add pictures to a thread, and beyond my ability.

I'll just have to try and describe my problem and hope someone will be able to help.

    But Thanks anyway.

    All you do is

    1) attach a file to upload as a attachment & make sure it is less than 5 megabytes

    2) Upload it

    3) After uploading, click the uploaded image icon to open the image

    4) right click and copy the URL in your web browser of the image

    5) back button of your browser back to the post thread

    6) Edit post

    7) Click icon of a picture image to embed a link to an image in your post/message

    8) paste the URL in the image link popup for the post you are editing

    9) Change the width of the image link to be 800 or less

    10) save embedded image link in your message inline

    11) save the edited post / message

    12) done

Thanks again, but I can just about do a copy, or cut and paste. Even Import or Insert.

And you give me TWELVE STEPS just to add a picture!!!

I've had a few goes, and I can't do it.

    I must be just thick

Maybe I can find an idiot's guide or something on YouTube to help

    Many Thanks

Try just attaching a picture and see if you can do that.

All you do for that is click attach a file below your post. Choose your image and upload. See how that goes.

It is quite complicated. I've edited my previous post to include a step by step guide using images, which should be easier to follow.

    1) Click Attach a file under the Comment Window

    4) Then Post the comment. The image will then be attached at the bottom of the comment.

    5) Right click on the image that's attached to the comment and pick "Open Link in New Tab"

    6) Go to the new tab where the image popped up in and right click and choose "Copy Image Address".

    7) Go back to the forum page and click on the little gear icon in the upper right of your comment and choose "Edit".

    8) Click on the little icon that looks like a mini picture:

    9) Paste the the URL in the spot for the URL and then click on the box under "Width" or the box under "Height" to change the size:

    10) Then Click OK.

Oh, yes. Thanks. It's the main Galley that complains when they are over 5MB

One further question - how do you leave the image in the post but remove the attachment?

  • ChoholeChohole Posts: 33,604

You don't,  you need the attachment.   However McGyver does have a thread over in the Art Studio where you can leave the attachments,  and then link to that as an inline post.
