Easiest way to add appendages?

I'm looking to use Hexagon to import an existing actor, such as the Genesis 2 Female.  Before import, I would use the parameters to give it an elongated torso.

What I'd like to be able to do is to add 2 extra arms (think of Sheeva from Mortal Kombat).  I know the boning and rigging would have to be done separately on them, but is there an wasy way to bascially copy the existing 2 arms and basically paste a copy below them?  Is there a video tutorial out there that can show this (I'm more of a visual learner)?

Thanks!

  • I'd make a copy of the body first, and hide the original.

Then extract the polgons of the arms, as a separate object.

Delete the rest of the body.

Un-hide the copy that was made.

Drag the extracted arms to where you want them joined to the original body.

Hard stuff: Make holes in body for arms to bridge polygons to.

There are 100 other ways to do it.

  • Thank you very much for that.  Quick question:  Do the holes need to be made for the new arms, or would weldiing the vertices without making the hole cause a lot of issues?

    Thanks again!

You'll need to make holes (delete polygons) in the body for the new arms.
