dForce... can these items be used on ANY DS character?

From my reading, I thought this kind of item could be used on multiple generations.

But when I see a dForce item offered for G8 I suspect this is not so.

Could someone please clarify?

    dForce is generation-blind. Specific models may be constructed and programmed to only fit (morphwise) G8. Fortunately the simulator, being generation blind, is not going to bark if you put the G8 dforce item on a G3 character and press Simulate.

    Remember that dForce clothing is normally conforming as well, and this will only work with the figure it is intended to (unless auto-fit to another one) when used as conforming.

    When used dynamically then it should fit most figures, but work will be needed when setting this up to make sure the fit to the different figure is still good enough to allow the drape to run as desired.
