...wondering if there will be a G8 to G3 fit clone like we had for G3 to G2. Haven't seen one yet
Pretty much all of the dForce clothing I am seeing is for G8 (save for the Ponchos and Tabards that were released tonight).

I don't know, but if they'd make one, my wishlist would just about double. I'm not using G8, but I would LOVE to use some of the clothing meant for them on G3!
Likewise! Doesn't seem like it would be too hard, but I don't know what I'm talking about. :P
...well between G3 and G2 there was a change in weight map system so I would think it would be less difficult for someone who knows how to do it. as the weight mappng used by both G3 and G8 is the same the only difference is the muscle flexing.
Check sickleyield's pages on deviantart. It's not how to make a clone but it talks about converting clothes between the two, the instructions may work the other way around, which would be better than the clone.
They work the other way around, and it is much better than a clone.

...seems simple enough will give that a try.
I used the instructions in the G3 to G8 morph thread to create a G8 clone for G3F. As normal autofit of long dresses is tricky, and high heel shoes a disaster, but on other clothing the results are not too bad. Creating a clone is not rocket science, and is relatively easy if you are reasonably confident with DS, as you need to export and import shapes. However it is not completely trivial either, particularly for a new user.
Below is G3F wearing parts of the Mega Wardrobe for G8F. The hair and shoes are also G8F and were transferred with the autofit clone.
There are some freebie pre-made clones here https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/189206/freebies-by-catherine3678a/p2
